We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed with The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson. This is book two in the Truly Devious series, and the first book was my last read in 2022. Was it a perfect book? No, but I was sucked in by the mysteries and simply couldn’t put it down. It’s safe to say that I really enjoyed it and I’m glad that I’m finally tackling this series that’s been on my TBR for ages!
๐ SYNOPSIS
In New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnsonโs second novel in the Truly Devious series, there are more twists and turns than Stevie Bell can imagine. No answer is given freely, and someone will pay for the truth with their life.
The Truly Devious caseโan unsolved kidnapping and triple murder that rocked Ellingham Academy in 1936โhas consumed Stevie for years. Itโs the very reason she came to the academy. But then her classmate was murdered, and her parents quickly pull her out of school. For her safety, they say. She must move past this obsession with crime.
Stevieโs willing to do anything to get back to Ellingham, be back with her friends, and solve the Truly Devious case. Even if it means making a deal with the despicable Senator Edward King. And when Stevie finally returns, she also returns to David: the guy she kissed, and the guy who lied about his identityโEdward Kingโs son.
But larger issues are at play. Where did the murderer hide? Whatโs the meaning of the riddle Albert Ellingham left behind? And what, exactly, is at stake in the Truly Devious affair? The Ellingham case isnโt just a piece of historyโitโs a live wire into the present.
