Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [178]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed with Caged in Winter by Brighton Walsh. I’ve been meaning to check out her Reluctant Hearts series ever since devouring her Havenbrook series, and since I felt like maybe a bit of easy romance could help kickstart my reading again, I finally picked it up. I’m almost done with it but it’s been just okay and I’d probably give it a 3-star at this point. Let’s see if I change my mind by the end!

📖 SYNOPSIS

Winter Jacobson has fought hard to escape the life she was born in to. She’s only seventy-six days away from college graduation–and the future she’s dreamed of for so long. She just has to stick to her rules: Don’t lose focus. Trust no one. Hookups only–she doesn’t want or need a man ruining her plans.

But then Cade Maxwell, aspiring chef and Prince Charming in-training, comes swooping in to her life. All brash exterior and marshmallow center, Cade strips away her walls as easily as he strips away her clothes. One of the best in his class, he’s on the fast-track to his dream job–as long as he keeps his eye on the prize.

This close to graduation, neither of them can afford a distraction. Despite their explosive chemistry, nothing serious can develop between them. Thankfully, Winter’s rules are keeping them safe.

Except Cade’s not playing by her rules anymore.

How is it already the end of February? Part of me is more than a little relieved because next week is meant to be the final week of the report before final submission in the first week of March and I swear on my life, I never ever ever want to look at this report ever again for the rest of my life, so help me. 😂 But I’m sad that it’s already the end of the month because February was such a horribly depressing and stressful month and I didn’t achieve 90% of the things I wanted to. I didn’t expect work to affect me this much but I guess it is what it is. Here’s hoping that March will be a million times better.

On a more positive note, my brother turned 36 today and we had a nice hot pot lunch as a family. Although my brother and I have kinda been on the outs since Christmas and haven’t spoken since then, we were civil today and it felt like a little mend in the giant rip of our relationship. Family gotta be so complicated, eh?!

On books: I finished a book! It took me over a week but… I guess it’s better than not reading at all? I’ve been in a weird mood, as we all know, lol.

On blogging: I’m writing February off as a whacky month. I have been blogging again but let me tell you, it’s been a struggle to convince myself to get back on my laptop once I reach home at the end of the week. I’m sorry for the lack of engagement but I appreciate everyone who’s still stopping by and engaging with me. 💜 I really hope things pick up positively in March!

ICYMI, here’s what I posted since the last Sunday post:

I’ve been listening to the All Out 2000s playlist on Spotify and it’s revived some wicked tunes that I haven’t listened to in ages and completely forgot about. I love it!

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

  1. Dini, take care of you. Like we always say. We will be here when you are feeling more up to things. That’s quite an amazing spread you had for your brother’s birthday. I am glad you were able to mend the bridge a bit. Life’s too short.

  3. Hopefully March is a much less stressful month for you! ❤ I can imagine your relief when you're done with *the report.*

I'm currently reading HOW THE KING OF ELFHAME LEARNED TO HATE STORIES by Holly Black. But honestly I've been taking a mini break from reading these past couple of days. I think I just read too much this month and my brain needs a break haha.

  4. You can tell that your book friends truly care about you, and I love that about this community for you. I hope that March is so much better for you, and I hope that everything for the report goes well. You still managed to post a lot even though February was a whacky month, and that’s a huge accomplishment ❤ Proud of you, Dini. I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

  5. I’m glad your report is almost over with and hopefully March will be stress free! Your food looks amazing. 😍 I understand family relationships that are complicated. I don’t talk to my brother and his wife for reasons and it can be awkward when having to get together with family lol. Glad that it wasn’t so awkward for you!

  6. Aw! Your family is so cute! Family dynamics are a weird thing. We have to love them, but we don’t have to like them all the time. I’m glad things feel like they are headed in a better direction for you and your brother. I hope March brings some better, less stressful times. And I hope you loved the Walsh book.
