Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [179]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed with A Dawn of Onyx by Kate Golden. I picked this up after reading Julie’s review and seeing it on KU. I started it yesterday and though I haven’t been reading much, I’m at 49% now. It’s a slower-paced romantasy but it’s interesting! I’m liking the characters 🙂

📖 SYNOPSIS

Captured by a king of darkness. Forced to find the light within.

Arwen Valondale never expected to be the brave one, offering her life to save her brother’s. Now she’s been taken prisoner by the most dangerous kingdom on the continent, and made to use her rare magical abilities to heal the soldiers of the vicious Onyx King.

Arwen knows better than to face the ancient, wicked woods that surround the castle on her own, which means working with a fellow prisoner might be her only path to freedom. Unfortunately, he’s as infuriating as he is cunning—and seems to take twisted pleasure in playing on Arwen’s deepest fears.

But here in Onyx Kingdom, trust is a luxury she can’t afford.

To make it out of enemy territory, she’ll have to navigate back-stabbing royals, dark magic, and dangerous beasts. But untold power lies inside Arwen, dormant and waiting for a spark. If she can harness it, she just might be able to escape with her life—and hopefully, her heart.

Another week come and gone and the days are slowly getting better. The bulk of my work-related stress has come and gone now and while there are still going to be some pretty hectic days ahead, I feel like that blanket of panic and anxiety is slowly being lifted off me and I can finally breathe. It was actually quite nice when I went to work on Friday and my supervisor gifted me with a novel journal based on Pride & Prejudice. It’s a gorgeous hot pink with blue sprayed edges and the lines in the book are made up entirely of the book—it’s really awesome! It’s such a thoughtful and perfect gift for a book lover and made me feel appreciated.

We also had a farewell for one of my colleagues and she gifted everyone with a small shopping bag from her recent trip to Japan. She left each of us a really sweet message with the gifts and it was really nice! Then on Saturday my sister randomly gifted me a purple macaron bunny candle w/ a bunny coaster and a very sweet note that made me realise just how much I’m going to miss her when she leaves for Japan for the next two years. The next two weeks together are really going to fly by!

On books: I’ve been reading! Slowly, but reading all the same! Gaming is still taking up a lot of my focus when I get home from work and by the time I actually put the game down it’s already 1am and I’m ready to konk out. But I’m hoping to dive back into books with another buddy read next week 🙂

On blogging: I have so much to catch up on the blog, especially when it comes to blog hopping and responding to comments! I’m sorry for being so MIA. If you randomly start getting a billion messages from me over the next week or so, it’s because I’m slowly going to start responding to comments again! 😂

ICYMI, here’s what I posted since the last Sunday post:

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜
