Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [181]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed with Saint by Adrienne Young. This is a buddy read with Leslie and Julie and we’re all enjoying it although we’re scared that it’s gonna be a sad ending because we know what’s up from the Fable duology.

📖 SYNOPSIS

As a boy, Elias learned the hard way what happens when you don’t heed the old tales.

Nine years after his lack of superstition got his father killed, he’s grown into a young man of piety, with a deep reverence for the hallowed sea and her fickle favor. As stories of the fisherman’s son who has managed to escape the most deadly of storms spreads from port to port, his devotion to the myths and creeds has given him the reputation of the luckiest bastard to sail the Narrows.

Now, he’s mere days away from getting everything his father ever dreamed for him: a ship of his own, a crew, and a license that names him as one of the first Narrows-born traders. But when a young dredger from the Unnamed Sea with more than one secret crosses his path, Elias’ faith will be tested like never before. The greater the pull he feels toward her, the farther he drifts from the things he’s spent the last three years working for.

He is dangerously close to repeating his mistakes and he’s seen first hand how vicious the jealous sea can be. If he’s going to survive her retribution, he will have to decide which he wants more, the love of the girl who could change their shifting world, or the sacred beliefs that earned him the name that he’s known for―Saint.

Author Adrienne Young returns to the world of The Narrows with Saint, a prequel to Fable and Namesake.

What are you currently reading?

I can’t believe it’s already Sunday! It’s been a fairly quiet week at work for me with a lot of my tasks revolving around copy editing and writing for upcoming publications. My work was flexible enough to allow me to WFH on Thursday & Friday because my sister is leaving for school in Japan tomorrow and she’s been wanting to spend more time together. I also booked two leave days on Monday & Tuesday so I’m technically getting a 4-day weekend, which is nice. 😊 It’s bittersweet knowing my sister is leaving cos I’m happy for her but she has been my only real friend in Jakarta since I moved here so it’s going to be lonely without her around. I’ll be taking them to the airport and since their flight is at 6AM it’s a super early wake-up call!

We had a delicious hot-plate lunch on Friday and today we went out to pick up her new glasses and then ended up shopping? 😂 I ended up getting new glasses too, but they came with clip-on sunnies and I’ve been looking for something like this FOR AGES. I’m so glad that I finally found a pair that look decent on me! Pls excuse my very weird hair, lol…

On books: I’ve been on a bit of an erotic romance binge lately? 😂 I don’t usually mark these on Goodreads cos I tend to skim them just to feel like I’m reading something continuously (it’s silly, I know haha)! But I think I want to go back and properly read a couple by new-to-me author Ainsley Booth (aka Zoe York). A few romance readers I follow on romance book Twitter have been talking about her books a lot over the last week and I got curious!

On blogging: I’ve been catching up slowly on blog hopping and responding to comments on my blog which made me feel happy and productive! I’m hoping to catch up with as many posts as I can. It’s great reading everyone’s posts again 🙂

ICYMI, here’s what I posted since the last Sunday post:

people (check on me) – libianca

check in on your people.
what they may be dealing with internally could be much more than meets the eye.

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

    • Thanks, Carla! I’m really excited for her and her new adventure but I’ll definitely miss her here. I guess it will force me to put myself out of my introverted comfort zone and try to make friends (somehow)! 😂 I hope you have a great week ahead, Carla!

    • Thanks, Julie! I’m chuffed with them although I do think they’re a tiny bit small for my face. But I’m so glad to finally find glasses that come with clip-on sunnies cos I’m never able to use sunglasses otherwise 😂 I hope you have a great week ahead!

    • I’m sad to see her go but I’m also really proud that she’s off on a new adventure and has the chance to do something she’s been wanting to do for years 🙂 It also gives me an excuse to visit Japan sooner rather than later! Hehe

    • Yeah, it’s defo great for my sister and I’m happy for her. Will have to just visit Japan soon! 😍 I’m so glad that we finally read Saint and that we all loved it more than our last BR (though tbh it wasn’t that hard to beat, haha)!

      • Yeah, I bet going to Japan to visit her will be such a blast though!! Yes!! Haha, I’m so glad but we didn’t have to read an amazing book to beat those expectations. LOL

  3. I still need to read Saint. I’m sorry your sister is leaving. That’s so hard! Thank goodness we have the technology we do, right? My oldest daughter is currently in Brazil again. I’m so thankful for Facetime right now. 😊 Love your glasses! Super cute on you, too! Happy reading this week, Dini!
