#WWWWednesday: 15 March 2023

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish three books. I’m still not reading very much and I contribute that to my overstimulated and stressed-out brain but also to the fact that gaming seems to be what’s working for me right now!

(ARC) The Moth Keeper by K. O’Neill ★★★★☆
If you love O’Neill’s Tea Dragon Society books you’ll love this wonderful MG fantasy about community, found family and belonging. And of course, it’s beautifully illustrated! I recommend it. 😍 [Check out my review!]

(ARC) Fake Dates and Mooncakes by Sher Lee ★★☆☆☆
So sad that this didn’t end up being as great as the cover is! I BR this with Leslie and Julie and unfortunately, we all struggled to get through it… This just really wasn’t for us!

(KU) Sweet Berries (Cambric Creek #2) by C.M. Nacosta ★★★½
Monster romances are very much outside of my comfort zone and I honestly can’t recall why I ended up picking this up (esp. since I haven’t read the first book) but it was interesting! It had more depth than I expected even though it was Very Horny™️ but this couple was great together! However, it was a little too repetitive and meandering.

(ARC) I Will Find You Again by Sarah Lyu ★★★★☆
A great YA mystery that covered tough topics and took an unexpected turn but it’s what made this stand out to me. Would highly recommend reading the CW/TW before picking up because it’s a heavy read and can be triggering! [Check out my review!]

The Next New Syrian Girl by Ream Shukairy

ARC45% → I’m reading this for my spot on a blog tour this week. I’ve read a few books about the Syrian war and this is very different. It’s surprisingly a bit more pointed and political but I like that! The ego of one of the MCs is huge but she’s slowly becoming bearable. I’m curious to see where it goes!

The magic of ✨mood reading✨ means it could be any of these.

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

    • Same here, Sam. Especially since all three of us were looking forward to it. We were thinking of DNFing but then I ended up reading it through my train ride to work cos I didn’t have internet and that was the only book downloaded so the others decided to skim to the end too. Defo would’ve been a DNF otherwise!

  1. I have seen so many people respond to Mooncakes. I think I had the most comments on that review than I’ve had in a long time. I’m so sad that we didn’t enjoy it. I’m so excited for Saint and also… Thorn is on our list, I think! So we can BR that when you’re ready too! I hope you have an amazing week, Dini! ❤

    • Leslie, we need to power through some of our buddy reads. Shall we make a schedule or something for April to get through as many as possible? 😂 We haven’t really had many buddy reads this year, makes me sad. I miss it but I know it’s all me and my ridiculous work schedule! 😭 Haha I’m gonna have to check out the comments on that review of yours!

      • Yes, totally agree! I messaged you back. Let’s get some on the books! It’s been a crazy start of the year for both of us. We will get some in, no worries. ❤

    • Yeah, it was a shame about Mooncakes. All three of us were so sad about it 😭 I just picked up Saint last night but didn’t get very far until I knocked out, lol. But I’m excited to dive back into Fable’s world and learn about her parents! 😃 Happy reading to you too, Becky!

    • Yeah, I was really bummed after reading Mooncakes. So sad 😭 I feel like those that were disappointed in the story are still in the minority though so I mean, if you’re still curious and can get a library copy it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try? Lol

    • Haha, yeah, I don’t even know how I landed on the subgenre as I was browsing KU. It’s definitely a subgenre that’s very much on the edge of my comfort zone but I’m glad that I gave this one a try. It was very different but also not as outlandish as I thought it’d be? Or maybe it’s just cos y’know, I read fantasy and monster romance has that fantasy element? Haha 😂
