#WWWWednesday: 29 December 2021

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Post divider: What did you just finish reading?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish six books. They were all romances, mostly holiday ones, and I loved almost all of them!

Homecoming King (Three Kings #1) by Penny Reid โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
I wanted more the minute this book ended! I was hooked from the very first page and I loved Rex and Abby together. The sexual tension and (mutual) pining was intense! ๐Ÿฅต I was sad Rex didn’t get a POV because that would’ve made it a solid 5-star read for me but I couldn’t be happier with their slightly cheesy but adorable HEA. RTC

Dipped in Holly by Dana Isaly โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
Isaly delivers with a very steamy and kinky age-gap romance that admittedly had me hooked from the beginning. Even though there’s very limited character development, I really liked Nick & Holly together and I wouldn’t be mad reading more about them? If you’re looking for a fun and fast little holiday romance with a whole lot of steam, I’d recommend checking this out! RTC

#TopTenTuesday: Best Books I Read in 2021

So, weโ€™re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This weekโ€™s prompt is: Best Books I Read in 2021

I’m always terrible at answering prompts that ask for my “best” anything ๐Ÿ˜‚ I know I’ve read some amazing books but it’s also been a very weird reading year? I’ve read a lot but I’ve had a hard time retaining much of what I’ve read but also, I’ve had a hard time focusing on reading, in general, this year! I’ve only had a few 5-star reads this year so it is a bit surprising that I’m having trouble picking a top 10… but in the end, I decided to not include series’ on the list and now, before I keep waffling on, let’s get to it!

Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

๐ŸŽ„ Happy Christmas to those who celebrate! I hope you all managed to have a good time with your families despite the panorama circumstances! ๐ŸŽ„

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’m still in a bit of a holiday romance mood so I’ve decided to pick up Merry Inkmas by Talia Hibbert. I’m just on Chapter 2 so it’s still early days but I always have fun with Hibberts’ romances and I have no doubt I’ll enjoy this one too! ๐Ÿ˜Œ

“There’s a beast inside of me. I keep it caged. You drive it wild.โ€

Cash Evans has come a long way since his troubled childhood, but all the wealth he’s earned as a tattoo artist can’t fix the hole in his heart. He knows that the sweet barista who haunts his dreams is off-limits… But life doesn’t always go to plan.

โ€There isnโ€™t a man on earth who could ruin me.โ€

Bailey Cooper is determined to learn from her mother’s mistakes. She’s seen how cruel love can be, and she’s not about to sacrifice her self-respect for a relationship. But when a bad boy with a heart of gold comes to her rescue, she finds herself wondering if this beast might just be her Prince Charming.

Will these two lost souls find a happy ending under the tree this Christmas?
Or is their love doomed to wither with the mistletoe?

Merry Inkmas is a steamy Christmas romance starring a brooding, bad boy hero and a Black, BBW heroine. Be warned: this love is hot enough to melt any winter frost!

Since last week I’ve managed to finish six books.

The One Night by Meghan Quinn โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
I had such a fun time with this book! I have to say Cooper’s quirky parents really stole the show with their wingmen act ๐Ÿ˜‚ I couldn’t stop laughing even though I’d probably be as mortified as he was if my parents did that to me IRL. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Cooper and Nora after that ending! RTC.

Window Shopping by Tessa Bailey โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ
This was probably one of the more festive holiday romances that I’ve read in a while! It definitely gave me the cosy and happy Love Actually vibes and I wanted to join this mixed family in their yearly holiday festivities because it sounded like so much fun! Mae was a fun heroine and Andrew was a swoonworthy hero and although things got a bit cheesy towards the end, it didn’t fail to warm my heart! My review

#TopTenTuesday: My Bookish Wish List

So, weโ€™re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This weekโ€™s prompt is: Top Ten Books on my Wish list!!

Although my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, that never stops me from dropping hints to them about the books that I *so desperately* (๐Ÿ˜‚) want to add to my overflowing bookshelves. I obviously have way more than ten on my wishlist but here are a few that I’d be thrilled to get as we ring in the new year!

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’m super excited to spend my Sunday night in bed with The Bridge Kingdom! I’m buddy reading this with Julie @ One Book More and we’re speeding through it and (thankfully) we’re both loving it. This romantasy is a very binge-able read and I’m already looking forward to starting the next book in the series asap! ๐Ÿ˜‚

A warrior princess trained in isolation, Lara is driven by two certainties. The first is that King Aren of the Bridge Kingdom is her enemy. And the second is that sheโ€™ll be the one to bring him to his knees.

The only route through a storm-ravaged world, the Bridge Kingdom enriches itself and deprives its rivals, including Lara’s homeland. So when sheโ€™s sent as a bride under the guise of peace, Lara is prepared to do whatever it takes to fracture its impenetrable defenses. And the defenses of its king.

Yet as she infiltrates her new home and gains a deeper understanding of the war to possess the bridge, Lara begins to question whether sheโ€™s the hero or the villain. And as her feelings for Aren transform from frosty hostility to fierce passion, Lara must choose which kingdom sheโ€™ll saveโ€ฆ and which kingdom sheโ€™ll destroy.

Since last week I’ve managed to finish five books. Most of them were holiday romances but I also finally read The Love Hypothesis and holy wow, I am smitten with this romance! Olive and Adam 4EVER! ๐Ÿฅบโค๏ธ

The Naughty, the Nice and the Nanny (Holiday Brothers #1) by Willa Nash โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ
This little novella was a fun and quirky holiday romance with characters that had great chemistry and a story with a good dose of touching family moments. While ultimately the romance ended up being very insta-love, it didn’t feel like it initially as our H/h built up a good foundation of trust and respect through their bond with the hero’s “angel” of a daughter, Violet. RTC.

In a Holidaze by Christina Loren โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
This was probably one of the more festive holiday romances that I’ve read in a while! #TopTenTuesday: 2021 December Possibilities…

So, weโ€™re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This weekโ€™s prompt is: Books on My Winter 2021 To-read List (or summer if youโ€™re in the southern hemisphere)

As a mood reader, the majority of my “possibility piles” throughout the year remain possibilities, but seeing as it’s already mid-December(๐Ÿ‘€!) I really hope that I can get more than a few of these books read! Some are ARCs, others are popular titles that I’ve heard so much about this year that I can’t resist wanting to pick them up, and others are holiday romances that I’ve been enjoying a fair bit lately! There might be more than 10 and this pile might be more than a little ambitious, but maybe giving myself more options will also lead to the possibility of some books being read?! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I’ve got a few reads going but I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed reading In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren. This has been on my TBR for… a while but I finally decided to pick it up last night cos this is about as “complicated” as my brain can handle right now. I’m about 60% through and I’m really enjoying it but I’m also kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop? Things are going *too* well and it’s making me nervous! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But what I can say is that it’s one of the most festive and magical holiday romances I’ve read to date!

Itโ€™s the most wonderful time of the yearโ€ฆbut not for Maelyn Jones. Sheโ€™s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.

But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the worldโ€”the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe:ย Please. Show me what will make me happy.

The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awakeโ€ฆsheโ€™s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loopโ€”and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.

Since last week I’ve managed to finish five books. As usual, it’s been a bit of a mixed bag of romances from the romcoms to the paranormal reverse-harem erotica! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Chef’s Kiss by Hank Jones & Jarrett Melendez; Illustrated by Danica Brine โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…
I’ve found a new favourite graphic novel! This was simply too cute, too relatable, and basically, everything I love! We’ve got realistic friendships, a slow burn M/M romance, an awesome restaurant setting with lots of foodie goodness and a really endearing main character. I loved this so much! ๐Ÿ˜ RTC closer to pub date!

A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ
This started off really well for meโ€”I liked the rom-com vibe and the cheeky and slightly antagonistic banter between Grace and Noah. Sadly, as the story progressed I found myself getting a little bored and I never felt fully invested in their romance. Though I did like their individual character development! RTC.
