We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed still reading Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken. This is a buddy read and it was honestly a bit of a slow start. The world-building is kind of clunky and awkward but I’m at 18% now and it’s slowly starting to pick up! I’m excited to keep reading.
📖 SYNOPSIS
#1 New York Times bestselling author Alexandra Bracken cements her status as one of the top fantasy authors writing today in this stunning series opener inspired by Arthurian legend and fueled by love, revenge, and pure adrenaline!
Tamsin Lark didn’t ask to be a Hollower. As a mortal with no magical talent, she was never meant to break into ancient crypts, or compete with sorceresses and Cunningfolk for the treasures inside. But after her thieving foster father disappeared without so much as a goodbye, it was the only way to keep herself—and her brother, Cabell—alive.
Ten years later, rumors are swirling that her guardian vanished with a powerful ring from Arthurian legend. A run-in with her rival Emrys ignites Tamsin’s hope that the ring could free Cabell from a curse that threatens both of them. But they aren’t the only ones who covet the ring.
As word spreads, greedy Hollowers start circling, and many would kill to have it for themselves. While Emrys is the last person Tamsin would choose to partner with, she needs all the help she can get to edge out her competitors in the race for the ring. Together, they dive headfirst into a vipers’ nest of dark magic, exposing a deadly secret with the power to awaken ghosts of the past and shatter her last hope of saving her brother….

I’m slowly coming to realise that at least until March, my work week is going to continue to be stressful so I’m not going to keep repeating myself with every weekly update. 🥲 On a more positive note, two exciting things happened this week: I treated myself to a pretty big tech splurge and it was my sister’s birthday. She turned 27 this year and with our eight-year age gap, it does make me feel a little old (this sentence also reads a bit like deja vu cos I feel like I said this last year too? 😂) but it’s the last birthday we’ll be spending together for at least the next two years as she heads to Japan for her Master degree in a couple of months. We had a nice KBBQ lunch and then a casual dinner at home with my aunt who also joined us!

On books: I managed to clear my “currently reading” list this week and now I just need to properly catch up on reviews! No new additions to my library this week (thankfully, lol).
On blogging: I’m trying to be a little bit more organised this week and get my posts sorted for the coming week. Or at least, as much of my posts as possible! I love to procrastinate too much but I’m going to at least prep four posts! Also, I was wondering, has anyone who shares their blog posts via Twitter noticed decreased engagement on their tweets lately or is it just me?

I hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

That cake is amazing! I couldn’t imagine being separated from my immediate family for that long. I have never lived outside of my home country either, so I give anyone who moves to a new place a lot of credit.

I know, the cake was so adorable that it hurt to cut into it when it came time to blow out the candle and have a bite! 😂 It’s definitely going to be weird to be separated again after living together for a couple of years, I’ll definitely miss having her around. But it does give me a good excuse to go to Japan for a visit! 😃

Thanks, Michaela! It was a pretty fun day and I think she’s going to have a blast in Japan—she’s been planning to study there for ages now. It’s always nice when a plan comes to fruition! 😍

It’s tough to know that work stress is here to stay for a while. I hope there is at least a light at the end of the tunnel! What a fun cake for your sister. How hard to be separated for a while.

It *is* tough knowing that work is going to be stressful for a while, especially the next couple of weeks. And I have to admit it’s a bit demotivating when I think about it (at times). But yeah, I’m looking forward to when things calm down a lot! 😂 It’ll defo be hard to be separated for a while but I’m keen to visit Japan asap and now I have a great reason to!

I’m sorry that it’s also been down for you but I’m glad to know I’m not alone. It’s really frustrating cos I haven’t done anything different at all! And thanks, Lydia! She did have a great day and the cake was as tasty as it was adorable! 😍

I love your sister’s cake and all the family photos – good luck to her in Japan. I haven’t been on my twitter for months now so I’m definitely not engaging there. If I am in there, all I’m doing is reading headlines to see what’s going on!

Hehe, thanks, Yolanda! 💜 Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with Twitter but I used to get a decent amount of engagement on there and now it’s literally nada. My posts aren’t being engaged with at all! 😮💨 Makes me wonder if I should stop being on there too sometimes!

I noticed decreased engagement with my shares to Twitter from around Christmas through the first week or two of January. I thought it might’ve been because of the holidays, but I sent out a tweet generally asking if others were experiencing something similar…I think anecdotally engagement is down and the algorithm is out of wack. But the past couple of weeks have been better for me in terms of engagement, similar to the before takeover times.

I just want to update and say that engagement is still hit or miss for me. So posts I share to my Twitter do ok, and others fall a little flat. It’s honestly really frustrating & I don’t know how some book bloggers are still able to get 20+ RTs!!

I mean, I’ve never had super high engagement numbers on Twitter but I always used to get at least like 4-5 engagements per tweet, especially from my blog. Now I get zero for all of my posts and I’m wondering why—did I do something weird that has me blocked or what and if I’ve somehow done something, how do I even check and change that. I’m also baffled at how people can get 20+ RTs and all. Is it because they engage a lot? I mostly just like and RT stuff and I wonder if that makes a difference? I guess I should Google it, I just have zero time and energy lately And I find it frustrating that it’s not working how it used to and that this is now something else I have to add to my list of shit to figure out! 😂😭

Thanks, Julie! She is super excited to go to Japan and I’m also super excited that I now have an even greater reason to visit! 😂 Oh, it’s been so long since I’ve been on IG constantly so my engagement is non-existent there but that’s to be expected. I wonder what’s going on with all the socials, haha!

Happy belated birthday to your sister! Her cake was so cute. As for Twitter, I abandoned it for a while and removed the app from my phone. I added it back for our buddy read, and I’m just starting to dip back into engaging there. So, my time-line is sort of a mess until the algorithm figures me out again. 🤷♂️

Thanks, Chris! It took me a little while to realise it but I did notice that you’d abandoned the Twitter ship. 😂 Thanks for adding it back for the buddy read and being so active on there for it, haha! 😃 I don’t even know why my timeline and algorithm is messed up but I guess that’s just Twitter for you now! (Well, Twitter for me now, lol?)

I have Silver in the Bone too, so I’m curious about your thoughts once you finish. Happy Birthday to your sister and good luck to her too with her upcoming move to Japan for her Master’s degree. Have a great week!

I’m about 40% now and I’m enjoying it so far! I haven’t read an Arthurian retelling in a while so that makes for a nice “new” topic. And thank you, Tessa! My sister is super excited about Japan 🙂 I hope you have a great week ahead too!
