We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022 (If you didn’t read books by 10 new authors, share new-to-you authors whose books you added to your TBR in 2022. Get creative, if needed!).
I read over 200 books last year and a surprising number were by new-to-me authors, so it was quite tough to pick just ten for this list! To make it a little easier, I decided to look at books by non-debut authors and those that I think have the potential to be new favourites or auto-buy authors. That did help narrow down the list a little bit but it was still tough going when I discovered so many new authors whose books I really enjoyed reading! But here are the ten authors that made the cut for this week’s prompt:

Gabrielle Zevin – my review
Juliette Cross – my review
Axie Oh
Laekan Zea Kemp – my review
Silvia Moreno Garcia – my review

Jesse Q. Sutanto – my review
Hafsah Faizal
Megan Bannen – my review
Elizabeth O’Roark – my review
Jaqueline Snowe – my review

Did you discover a lot of new-to-you authors in 2022? Who were some of your favourites? Were any of these authors also new to you last year?

Snowe and Bannen were both new-to-me too. Bannen’s book was a highlight for me. I read XOXO by Axie Oh which was precious

Ooh, I’ve got XOXO on my TBR and I’m quite looking forward to it. It’ll be interesting to see how different or similar the writing is to her fantasy! Bannen’s book was also a highlight for me 😃

I hope you read XOXO. Such a sweet, feel good story

I haven’t read any of the books on your list yet either, but I’m impressed by the fact that you read 200 books last year. Wow!
Thanks for stopping by earlier.

Silvia Moreno-Garcia is a great author! I still need to read the books by Axie Oh and Megan Bannen that you have pictured, though. Maybe they’ll make my new-to-me authors list for next year!

Although we read different books by Jesse Q. Sutanto, I am glad to see her on your list! She made mine too. 🙂 I really enjoy Juliette Cross’s books. I have read and enjoyed books by Gabrielle Zevin and Silvia Moreno Garcia in the past–but different books than you read–and definitely can see them possibly becoming favorites. I have been wanting to read more by them. This is a great list! Thank you for sharing!

Amazing list, DIni!!! Hart and Mercy and Girl Beneath the Sea were top books for me last year. I’m so glad that you enjoyed Girl Beneath the Sea because you went and bought it after I gushed about it. Makes me nervous, haha! Also, I LOVE the background on your page, it’s so lovely and calming!

I actually don’t have Mexican Gothic on my TBR because I’m a bit of a wuss and that seemed a little too screepy for me? But I do have two other titles by her and I can’t wait to check them out this year (hopefully)! I hope you also find more new authors to love this year 😍

I also read Zevin for the first time last year, but I read The Storied Life of AJ Fikry. Unfortunately, I didn’t *love* that one. It’s kind of put me off of her other books, but everyone seems to like Tomorrow. I may have to cave. 😃 Happy reading in 2023!

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t love AJ Fikry. I’m hoping to read that one this year and I’ve heard a lot of great things about it, which is always a bit tricky cos now I have high expectations. 😂 Hopefully, I’ll enjoy it. I’m not sure how different Tomorrow is to Fikry, but I do have to caution that it’s quite a depressing, slightly upsetting and very emotional read, haha. If you do check it out, I hope you enjoy it!
