Where has December gone? Is it really already the end of 2022? What have I done with all my time? These questions plague me. 😂 Honestly, all I can remember from the first half of December is that work was incredibly busy and took over most of my brain. One great thing that happened was that I GOT THE JOB for That Interview™️ I was panicking over at the start of the month and I signed my new contract yesterday!
Other than that, I feel like it’s been a weird-ish month. My mood has been shifting as wildly as the weather (the stormy winds and rain have been wonderfully cooling though!) which has in turn affected my reading. I’m in Bali for the holidays and I’m still WFH even though the office has been pretty quiet lately, which is making me want to go on hols! Also, I also can’t believe it’s time to wrap up the year? HELP.

December has ended up being a slower reading month than I expected. I managed to read 16 BOOKS, with a few uncounted erotic romances as I won’t be rating them, so overall, it’s been a pretty decent reading month! There’s a lot of romance on the list, especially holiday romances, which I’ve mostly been enjoying. Sadly, I didn’t find too many new favourites and only had two 5-star reads this month. My favourite of the two is one that’s shot high up my list of favourite reads of 2022 though and it’s Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. I wrote an “essay” of my thoughts (linked below) and I’m still unsure why it worked so much for me when there’s so much I disliked, but the story and characters are still with me and my love for the book has only grown since.

And that’s it for December, friends! I’ll be posting more about my year of reading over the new few days, so keep an eye out for that. Hope you’ve all had a good month! What was your favourite read this month?

Congrats on the job! I’m glad everything went well with it. ❤ You had a good month of reading too. I think I had one or two 5 star reads.

Thanks, Joanna! I’m so relieved about the job, lol. 💜 And yay for a couple 5-star reads! It’s been a weird year for 5-stars… Maybe I’m just becoming more critical and a tougher rater but I’ve not had as many this year, for sure! 😂 I hope you’re having a good December though.

I’ve felt that way too. Maybe I am just stricter with my 5 stars. 😅

Congrats on the job!!! You had a big year. Go read your other monthly wrap ups to remind you. 🙂 Also I somehow 100% missed the news on the HC Union Strike. And this was the month I posted only reviews! AUGH! Now I’m like, frick, how many reviews from their imprints did I post… sigh. I read a lot by Inkyard. Thanks for making me aware. I’m certainly hoping it’s over by now but if you’re including it here I fear it isn’t yet 😑

A lot about the strike was posted on Twitter, or at least that’s where I first heard about it and that’s where I still see people talk about it cos I’m always on there, lol. I’m not sure about the other social media platforms like Instagram but I can imagine if you’re not on socials, you might not have heard about it! The strike is still ongoing because (last I understand) no word has been heard from HC. 😔 If you have the time or energy, you can always go back and private those posts but also, it’s okay, at least you know moving forward?
And thanks, Jennifer! I know it’s always easy for me to forget just how much has happened in my year. I should get better at acknowledging that! 😃 Hope you’re having a great December.

Yeah I don’t use Twitter or really any socials much so that explains it. I’ll probably sort through the previous ones.

December was another good month. 16 books especially. I didn’t read anywhere near where I normally do because of Christmas and a Disney trip.
