#WWWWednesday: 07 December 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish six books. It was a mix of hits and misses, and still more hits than misses, but what made me super sad was that one of the romances I was most looking forward to this year really didn’t work for me. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ Isn’t it so disappointing when that happens?

Resting Witch Face (Stay a Spell #5) by Juliette Cross โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…
RUBEN AND JULES 4EVA. This couple! Their chemistry, their growth, their romance!! It was so incredibly swoony and I loved them so much!!! They more than deserve their HEA after everything and they’re so perfect together I can’t even.

Walking in a Witchy Wonderland (Stay a Spell #3.5) by Juliette Cross โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
A wintery and wonderfully cosy little collection of short stories from our first three sisters/couples, plus we finally get JJ + Charlie’s story! They’re adorkably awkward and I loved their friends-to-lovers romance so much but I’m sad there wasn’t more cos I’m greedy like that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just One Tent by Jaqueline Snowe โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
A perfectly steamy friends-to-lovers romance novella that sets out what it said it would do. Maddie and Matt were adorable and I loved Matt’s lumbersexual vibes. Together they were so cute and their banter was top-notch! [CHECK OUT MY REVIEW!]

Witcha Gonna Do? by Avery Flynn โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜†โ˜†
The biggest disappointment this week. The world-building, the romance, the narrative style it was all a miss. I’m glad that I read it but I’m supes sad this didn’t work for me in the end!

The Holly Dates by Brittainy Cherry โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ
This was a sweet and ultimately feel-good holiday romance. It wasn’t exactly the rom-com I expected because it does delve into some heavier topics but it was a satisfying read with a cute couple. I was a big fan of Kai and his growth throughout the story! And the way he takes care of Holly? I’m melting!

Skin Deep (The Prescotts #8) by Tara Wyatt โ˜…โ˜…ยพ
I’m really sorry to say this was another letdown. I’d been looking forward to reading Hudson & Violet’s romance but this was supremely underwhelming! The chemistry was missing, the story was plagued by repetitive dialogue and scenes, and the ending was so rushed it almost felt like the author didn’t know how to wrap everything up so she did it quickly.

  • The Christmas Clash by Suzanne Park โ†’ 32% โ†’ Zero progress has been made… ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
  • The Vermilion Emporium by Jamie Pacton โ†’ 8% โ†’I had tried reading this before but could never get into it for some reason. I’m now slowly getting into it. The pace is a bit slow but I’m intrigued. I’m just prioritising my buddy read first!
  • Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin โ†’ 24% โ†’ Started reading on my commute Tuesday morning and had trouble putting it down. I’m getting really sad vibes from this but I just want to keep reading!

Either one of these or probably not cos that’s the magic of โœจmood readingโœจ lol…

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! ๐Ÿ˜

  1. I’m sorry a few of your latest reads were disappointing! It’s a shame when that happens especially when you are looking forward to them. The Christmas Clash was definitely a struggle for me, haha. It just didn’t have enough Christmas and everything else was a bit lackluster.

    • I’m starting to feel that maybe Park might not be the author for me. I’ve read two of her books and one was a total miss but I enjoyed the other enough to want to read more of her stuff. This one is feeling more like a miss to me ๐Ÿซฃ It’s too bad the Christmas stuff was lacking!

      • Yeah I understand that! I’m giving her one last go with her latest adult book (have it from netgalley) and calling it quits if it ends up being a dud. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  2. Such a mix of ratings there and I’m so sorry that one of your anticipated reads was such a disappointment! I hate when that happens. I hope it means you have some amazing reads coming your way. I have a good feeling about Tomorrow but I think it might hurt us, a lot! haha. I’m hoping to pick it back up today after I get some blog hopping done. I seem to only be able to blog hop once a week. LOL

    • Ugh, it’s the worst when an anticipated read ends up being disappointing. I was so looking forward to this one ๐Ÿ˜ญ Aah, you know how I feel about Tomorrow cos I can’t shut up about it for long but I hope you continue to enjoy it, Leslie! I’m so glad we read it together (but I’m sorry I couldn’t control myself from speeding forward cos FEELINGS)!!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Tomorrowx3 is now one of my favourite reads this year. I wasn’t expecting it and it honestly had so many elements that I would’ve otherwise hated but somehow, this author made me not mind it. It was a 5-star for me but I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it. I wrote an essay for my review (as usual, lol) and I’ll post it soon! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. Pacton is another one who has these books that sound great, but end up falling flat for me. I read her contemporaries, so maybe the case is different in other genres. I thought the Zevin book was great, super interesting, but sad. I felt sad when I was done.

  4. The covers for the Stay a Spell series are SO cute, I think I might just add them to my TBR for the matching covers alone! Eager to hear what you think of T&T&T, I totally didn’t expect to like it as much as I did and am glad to see it getting all the hype!! Happy reading! โ™ฅ

    • They are adorable and what caught my eye in the first place! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m glad to say that the stories inside are just as great as the covers! I just finished Tx3 last night and I was a sobbing mess, Erin! Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved it even though it was full of things I normally strongly dislike, lol. I think I’m calling it a fave this year!

    • I absolutely loved it, Tessa! It’s full of complex and messy emotions and relationships and things that I normally wouldn’t enjoy reading but it was so good and made me so incredibly emotional. If you enjoy sad books I would definitely recommend it, lol!

  5. I just saw Holly Dates on Deanna’s post and it looks sweet. I will have to see if I can fit it in. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is on my TBR, but not sure when I will get to it. I am not in the mood for sad right now. Enjoy whatever you pick up next, Dini.
