We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I spent a good chunk of my Sunday reading and eventually finishing The Holly Dates by Brittainy Cherry. It was a fun and cute holiday romance although it does cover some fairly serious topics so it wasn’t exactly the rom-com I expected. But I do think it’s a romance that’ll put you in a happy holiday mood!
📖 SYNOPSIS
All she wanted for Christmas was a boyfriend for the holidays…
All he wanted was for her to take her crappy first dates elsewhere…
Quirky Holly Jackson was unlucky in love, yet her romantic heart refused to give up her search for companionship—even after her fiancé left her at the altar on Christmas Eve.
Grumpy restaurant owner Kai Kane wanted nothing to do with love after his last relationship crashed and burned. Romance was the last thing on his mind. Unfortunately for him, when an eccentric Holly kept entering his restaurant nightly with a different first date, his annoyance grew.
When Kai volunteered to help Holly find a suitor it was for one reason only: to get her out of his restaurant and on to a second date with someone at a different location.
Once Kai became Holly’s dating coach, her confidence grew.
It was all going great until Kai became increasingly jealous of the connection Holly developed with another man. The more Holly fell for Kai’s pick for her, the more overprotective he became.
Kai quickly realized that all wasn’t fair when it came to love and the holidays.
He was going to have to step up his game if he wanted a shot at the ultimate prize—being Holly’s favorite date.
*The Holly Dates is a steamy, full-length romantic comedy that will put you right in the holiday spirit.*
⚠️ CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNINGS
Childhood abandonment and abusive parents (recounted), infidelity (on-page and recounted), manipulative gaslighting partner, body shaming (one incident on-page), cancer (former partner of one of the main characters)

The first half of the week saw me unable to focus on anything but the nerves I felt in prep for The Interview™️ on Wednesday. It was a freaking brutal interview but I’m glad that it’s over. The results will be out next week so I guess it won’t be much longer until I find out whether I get it or not! After the adrenaline left my body post-interview, I’ve been in the mood to do some retail therapy, which hasn’t happened in a while… so I ended up going shopping the other day and ngl, it felt good!
Also, I can’t believe it’s December?! Like, WHAT. 🥴

After counting the book I just finished today, I’m one book away from reading 200 books this year! Last year I read 199 books (welp) and I don’t think I’ve ever exceeded 200 books so this is an exciting first?! I honestly find it a little hard to believe that I’ve read so much! 😂

Fingers crossed for the results of the interview!! ❤❤ It’s always a shame when you want a cute rom-com and it gets serious. 😂

Thanks, Joanna! 🤞🏽 And yuh, this cover and synopsis were really misleading cos I was expecting so much more fun/festive romance but it got pretty emotionally intense, lol. Still glad I read it though!

I am hoping the interview news will be good. Did you buy anything good? I am only really buying Christmas gifts right now, but I don’t really shop for myself. I am so cheap.

I think I bought some good stuff! I got a really pretty flowy sleeveless lilac dress that I can dress up and down for work and other occasions. I also finally got a new blazer (it’s oversized and SO comfy while still looking stylish and formal) that fits well! And I bought a couple of other cutesy work outfits and a couple of cosy oversized checked shirts 😂 If you can’t tell, I’m all about the oversized and comfy stuff, haha! Most of what I buy for myself is books really but I felt it was time to splurge a little. I’ve been doing well with not spending so much lately.

I hope the news from the interview is good! I’m not too far away from 200 books, as well. It would be a first for me too, and I really want to get there. We’ll see…

Have you read Cherry before? I was surprised this one was supposed to be a rom-com with how her other books are. Sounds like she squeezed a little of that into this one. I can’t wait to read it. Happy Sunday!

This was my first Cherry book! I remembered seeing a thing or two about how her books are always very emotional but I got distracted by how cheery this cover looks! Not just because of the illustrations but the colours! 😂 I hope you enjoy this one, Deanna. Hope you have a great week ahead!

I just added The Holly Dates to the TBR. I just realized I was only a couple away from hitting 250 books for the year. It’s definitely the most I’ve ever read in a year. Congrats on getting to the 200 mark. That is a big accomplishment!
I can relate to the anxiety from the interview. That would totally leave me a wreck. Best of luck with the job stuff!!

250 is so amazing! Hitting 200 for the first time will already be quite the feat for me. Go you! 😍 I hope you continue to read amazing books for the rest of the year, Ali. Have a great week ahead!

Wow 200 books! Such an amazing feat, Dini. The highest I’ve ever attained was just over 100. I hope your interview results go the way you want ♥️ Rest (and a bit of retail therapy 😉) sounds nice

Thanks, Andge! I got so close last year and really let myself down so I’m excited to maybe even go above 200 this year—if I don’t get in my own way, lol. 😂 I never used to read this much until I started blogging (but I also am very unsocial IRL, so… There’s that, lol)! I hope you have a great week ahead 🙂

Fingers crossed that you get positive news about your interview! I understand the panic of December arriving all of a sudden. I mean, wasn’t it just September a week ago? Hoping your week is a good one.
