#WWWWednesday: 24 August 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish two books and I’ve completed my Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2022! 🎉

(ARC) The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones ★★★★★
This is a beautifully written and atmospheric dark fairytale highlighting Welsh folklore. If you enjoy plots with high-stake heists, fantastic main characters who are compelling and easy to root for and the bestest goodest animal companion corgi who is guaranteed to melt your heart! Check out my review.

(ARC) A Venom Dark and Sweet (The Book of Tea Duology #2) by Judy I. Lin ★★★★☆
AVDaS was a great ending to The Book of Tea duology! The focus shifts from court politics to discovering the plans of a former deity and it was fast-paced, action-packed and had stronger character development. Plus, more unique tea magic! My tour review goes up tomorrow!

Since I just finished my last read early this morning, I haven’t started my next read yet but I will be picking up Belladonna by Adalyn Grace. I have a feeling the paranormal aspect of this will be a small step out of my comfort zone but I’ve heard stellar things about it so I’m excited to dive in!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

    • Thanks, Tanya! Kinda surprised that I reached it already as my reading slowed down considerably in the last few months, lol. I just finished Signal Moon the other day, also my first book by Quinn, and it was really good! Can’t wait to read a full-length by her soon.

  1. I didn’t know Kate Quinn had another book out 😮 will have to check it out. I’m glad you read some amazing reads this last week! I’ve been in such a reading slump lately. I want to read Judy I. Lin’s books though, especially now that the duology is fully out

    • Yes! I think it was an Amazon First Reads book? I’m not sure if it was this month or last month but it’s quite recent! It was my first by Quinn and now I’m really looking forward to reading a full-length novel by her cos I really enjoyed it. Also, I really enjoyed The Book of Tea duology and I’m so impressed Lin didn’t make readers wait too long for the second book to come out! 😂 I hope you manage to find something to shake you out of the slump, Andge! 💜

  2. Congratulations you overachiever. Finishing your challenge four months early. *high five* I hate to sound basis, but that Belladonna cover is really pretty. I have also seen good reviews. Hope it’s a hit for you.

    • Haha, I’m honestly shocked that I’ve finished my goal this early but I’m taking it cos I don’t know when it’ll ever happen again 😂 Also, YES, I couldn’t agree more with your comment about the Belladonna cover. It’s gorgeous and thankfully, the story was just as great (imho). I loved it 😍

    • I really enjoyed it! It’s super short (just over 50 pages) so I read it in one quick sitting but you can tell how much research went into it and how passionate the author is about this period of history. I’m keen to read one of her full-length novels soon!

  3. I like Kate Quinn, but have not heard of Signal Moon. I will have to check it out. I am hoping to get to Drowned Wood this weekend. Congrats on completing your Goodreads Challenge Dini.

    • YES! SAMMIE!! DROWNED WOODS!! Okay, curbing my enthu, but did you read The Bone Houses? I think I remember speaking to you about it before and how we both loved it (I hope it wasn’t someone else lol) but this one was just as good. Loved the lore, the corgi and the characters 😍

      • Noooo I didn’t read The Bone Houses. D: It’s sitting on my shelf judging me, and you and several others have told me that I absolutely need to read it. So now you’re all probably sitting there judging me. 😛 *sigh* I need about two more hours each day for reading, please. But I’m gonna just go ahead and bump both of those books up my TBR pile now. xD
