Since last week I’ve managed to finish three books. I actually DNF’d one book this week and I also wished that I had DNF’d another one of the books that I read but other than that, it was a great reading week!
The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh ★★★★★
This is one of my favourite fantasies this year. It had absolutely gorgeous writing, fantastical folklore, vivid world-building with strong Spirited Away vibes, a swoontastic romance, and wonderful characters. I highly recommend it! 💜
(ARC) Not Betting on Forever (Single Ladies of Lakeside #1) by Natasha Moore ★★☆☆☆
Sadly, this wasn’t my jam. I felt zero chemistry between our MCs nor did I care about any of the other characters. For characters who were supposedly more mature (40+), these two acted like horny teenagers and the forbidden trope that I thought I’d be okay with simply didn’t work for me. Check out my review!
(ARC) Royally Not Ready by Meghan Quinn ★★★★☆
This was a fun and sexy read that I sped through in one sitting. Lilly and Keller had a slightly forbidden frenemies-to-lovers romance that was full of banter, heartfelt talks and STEAM. Let me tell ya friends, their dynamic hotted up my Kindle real good! 🔥 If you’re not a fan of too much steam, this won’t be your jam, lol. My review is out tomorrow!
I’ve got two reads on at the minute. I started You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi earlier this week and I read 30% in one sitting cos it’s so readable but something I didn’t expect was introduced so I stopped. I’m not a fan of this trope so I was kinda ‘eh’ about continuing despite loving Emezi’s writing. I actually had plans to finish it today but alas, it didn’t happen…
I’m also buddy reading The Dragon’s Promise by Elizabeth Lim, with Leslie. I’m at 41% and I’m enjoying it and I can’t wait to see where it goes!

I’m reading The Dragon’s Promise right now too. I’ve seen a lot of pretty negative reviews about it, and I don’t understand why so far. I’m enjoying the book and read over half of it in one day.

I am excited to read your review for Quinn’s book. Mine is out tomorrow as well. I agree that newer Quinn Montlake readers need to know this is steamier because they have only read her trad books.

I love The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea ❤️. Okay the US version book cover of This Vicious Grace is so different from yours, I had to look twice! I still need to read it.

YAY!! I am sooo excited that you loved Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea!! I was so nervous when you went out and bought it after my recommendation. haha. It’s always nerve wrecking when people buy books based on your recs! It’s moneeeyyyy. lol I can’t wait to see where Dragon’s Promise goes!! ❤

So happy you loved The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea! I loved that book so much. I have The Drowned Woods on my TBR for this month too, and excited to see what you think of One Damned Thing After Another, that’s been on my TBR for *cough* Awhile *Cough* 😀
