#WWWWednesday: 27 April 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish five books. It’s been a pretty great reading week with a good mix of genres and ratings. I’m so behind on my reviews (yikes!) but I’m hoping to get caught up soon.

We Free the Stars (Sands of Arawiya #2) by Hafsah Faizal ★★★★★
I buddy read this with Leslie & Julie and this had us feeling all the feels. Oof, why is the romance between Nasir and Zafira not talked about more often? Holy wow, it was so angsty, so swoony and ugh, I love them so much? 🥹 I still need to write my review but far out this was an amazing conclusion to the duology!

(ARC) Tanked (Eastside Brewery #3) by Mia Hopkins ★★★½
I’ve been keen to read Angel’s story and it didn’t disappoint. It was sweet, swoony and steamy and I loved how the stories are brought together for a great conclusion to the series. Check out my review!

(ARC) Burning Up (The Prescotts #6) by Tara Wyatt ★★★★☆
Burning Up is a fun, fast, pretty hot and slightly angsty story that is perfect if you’re looking for a romance with characters that have explosive chemistry! I loved Noah and Felicity’s story. Check out my review!

(ARC) My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth ★★★★☆
I buddy read this with Leslie & Julie and it was a bit of a rough start. We had a great discussion about some of the themes such as girls/women supporting each other, what girls/women in STEM experience, and about the unrealistic expectations placed on teens regarding their future. The things that irritated me really irritated me but I think this is a story that will stick with me. Plus, the first-love romance? So cute and super sweet! 😍

Beauty and the Baller by Ilsa Madden-Mills ★★★★½
Ah, this was swoony, sweet, banter-filled and exactly what I was looking for. I really enjoyed this fake-dating semi-second-chances romance set in a football-obsessed small-town in Texas. All the characters were wonderful and the different relationships that developed were so great!

I’m buddy reading Gallant with Leslie right now and I’m @ 80%. I can understand those who’ve said they didn’t like it because it is a very slow-moving plot. BUT there’s something about Schwab’s writing that I really love plus the creepiness and the mystery has engaged me throughout. Let’s see how I feel about this by the end!

26%: No further progress was made with Fake It Till You Bake It cos of the blog tours and buddy read but I’ll be picking this back up when I finish Gallant tonight!

Some possibilities that I’m really looking forward to including another buddy read with Leslie!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. Glad to see you have been enjoying your current reads! I’m also happy that you are enjoying Gallant. Even though it wasn’t for me Schwab does have a unique writing style in it.

      • It was not! I have read her middle grade series ( really enjoyed) and the first book in the duet series? not sure of the title, lol. I didn’t like that one.

        • OH yeah, that’s right! The Monsters of Verity series 🤣 I did enjoy that one but it was so long ago I hardly remember anything about it. I haven’t read her MG series cos I’m such a chicken (yes, even though it’s MG Lol) but after reading Gallant and handling that, I wonder if I should give that one a try 👀

          • I think the first one in the MG series is a tad bit creepy but I would say that it is the creepiest out of all three.
