#WWWWednesday: 23 March 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve read four books. This past week has been hellacious and all I’ve wanted to do is take my sleep-deprived and anxious self and retreat into a cave and never come out. When I’m not playing my new Breath of the Wild save (what’s more de-stressing than slaying Lynels?) romances have been my go-to and even then my anxious mood has made it hard to fully get into the stories…

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater ★★★½
I buddy read this with Leslie and I’m glad that I finally read it. It’s very hyped and I can see why but it took a bit of time to warm up to it. It was also very different to what I expected which was both awesome but very much threw me off 😂 We’ll read the next book in May and I can’t wait!

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score ★★★★☆
This was my first book by Lucy Score and I loved it! This had so many tropes including hate-to-love, grumpy/sunshine, single parent with a dash of fake-dating and forced proximity, and all set in an awesome small town. I want more stories set in Knockemout, please!

Deal With the Devil by Elizabeth O’Roark ★★★½
Nick mentioned reading this on Twitter so obvi I went and picked it up! This was a single pov and intense slow-burn hate-to-friends-to-lovers romance. The banter was truly ✨exquisite✨ and their chemistry was hot! 🥵 This had a good mix of steamy, sweet and vulnerable moments.

The Last Eligible Billionaire by Pippa Grant ★★★½
I saw Deanna’s review and it sounded great so I immediately picked it up (it’s on KU)! This was my first Pippa Grant book and it was fun—I laughed out loud quite a lot with Begonia’s lack of filter and her banter with Hayes and Marshmallow was THE BEST GOOD BOY EVER. Too adorable! 😍

I’m about 75% done with One-Timer by Teagan Hunter. This book is out tomorrow and so will my review cos I’ll be costing up in bed with this right after I post! 😂 I am enjoying it and though nothing will top Ryan x Rhodes, their banter is proper cute! Leaning towards ★★★¾ (rounded up) right now.

Hunter’s books are always satisfying and give me a good laugh which is exactly what I need right now!

All of these are ARCs so they’re gonna get read at some point in the next week(ish)!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. Was Things We Never Got Over sad? I’ve read Score before, but I wasn’t sure if that one would be too sad for me right now. I’m glad you liked that Pippa Grant book. I can always count on her to make me laugh. I would recommend her other books too. I can’t wait to read One-Timer! I hope it finishes strong for you.

    • It actually wasn’t too bad. I’m a pretty emotional reader so the emo stuff always gets to me quickly but this didn’t bring me down. It was a little angsty but I think well balanced with the community vibes and happier moments, which I loved it! I’m keen to try more Grant! Any recs?

      • Good to know!
For Grant I would recommend Stud in the Stacks, Beauty and the Beefcake, and the Copper Valley Fireballs. I’ve enjoyed pretty much all of her books, but those are favorites.

    • I can’t wait to read it! I keep putting it off cos I’m kinda scared I’ll be disappointed but I’m also super excited for it. I hope you enjoy Heartbreak Symphony and Magic Steeped in Poison 😍

    • I’m definitely curious to try more Pippa Grant cos I had fun and laughed out loud quite often while reading this! What’s your favourite by her? I’m glad I finally tried Lucy Score’s books cos they’re all on KU and I can’t wait to make my way through as many as I can 😂 I hope you enjoy your books whenever you try!

    • Everyone seems to love it so much off the bat and I felt like I was missing something 😂 BUT I’m excited to continue because I think I’m gonna like it more the further we get. It was just soo unexpected! Lol

    • Yeah, it’s been popping up on my KU as well and that cover had me intrigued. It’s cute/sweet and I’m glad that I picked this up as my first book by Score 😃 I hope you enjoy it if you decide to pick it up!

  2. I’m sorry this week has been so crappy, I really hope that the next week will be better. It’s been crazy busy on my end and I’m so ready for the weekend to be here and get some normalcy back. lol. I do hope that we like the next book in the Raven Cycle better than the first one. I hope that you get some sleep and some anxiety goes away. ❤

    • 💜💜💜 You’re the best! The source of my stress/anxiety is now over and I’m so looking forward to unwinding starting today. I feel absolutely drained 😂 I hope you’re enjoying your time with your in-laws and hopefully more nice weather so you can hang outside with Ollie! I hope we like the second book in the series more too—I’m ready to love this series (pls)! Haha

      • I am so glad that it’s over and you can finally unwind!! I have missed you girlie. It’s been so stressful because I’m potty training Oliver. He was doing so good until they got here and they were not very helpful. He’s backtracked so much that I’ll be starting over with him. Ugh. One more day!!! lol. I hope you had a wonderful day and got to unwind!! <3<3

    • Tbh, all I knew about the Raven Boys was that it was super popular. I didn’t have any expectations but it was also not the story I expected and so it threw me off. BUT I have a feeling these characters will worm their way into my heart once I continue reading! The potential for it is already there—especially with Ronan and Adam! 😍

    • Books have been the only silver lining in this hellacious week 🥲 But as of now, the cause of the stress/anxiety is over and I’m hoping to slowly unwind! I’m just reading A Magic Steeped in POison now and really enjoying it—it’s out next week 😃

    • I have a feeling it will! This first book felt like a nice little warm-up and as we get to know the characters and their motivations more, I have no doubt that they’ll worm their way into my heart. 😂 I can’t wait!
