Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

This Sunday I spent half the day in bed with The Silence of Bones. I’m reading this for a blog tour and tomorrow is my tour date! Have I made much progress? No, and I’m actually concerned about finishing it on time. Yikes! That said, I’m finding it interesting and I’m really enjoying it. There’s so much going on with the sociopolitical dynamics in the plot. It’s such an interesting exploration of a dynastic empire and era that I know basically nothing about. I don’t know why but there’s something about this cover that always makes my brain jump into “fantasy mode” so that already had me shook from the start when I realised this was a historical fiction (I swear I read the blurb before requesting it but my brain just keeps playing tricks on me lol). Hard to believe this is a debut and I gotta say this cover is amazing! I’m looking forward to tucking into this one tonight until well into the morning 😂

I have a mouth, but I mustn’t speak;
Ears, but I mustn’t hear;
Eyes, but I mustn’t see.

1800, Joseon (Korea). Homesick and orphaned sixteen-year-old Seol is living out the ancient curse: “May you live in interesting times.” Indentured to the police bureau, she’s been tasked with assisting a well-respected young inspector with the investigation into the politically charged murder of a noblewoman. As they delve deeper into the dead woman’s secrets, Seol forms an unlikely bond of friendship with the inspector. But her loyalty is tested when he becomes the prime suspect, and Seol may be the only one capable of discovering what truly happened on the night of the murder. But in a land where silence and obedience are valued above all else, curiosity can be deadly.

What are you currently reading?

Is it just me or are the weeks passing by faster now that we’re all just staying at home? I find it hard to believe that we’ve already passed mid-April when it still feels like the end of March. Next thing you know it’s going to be May! I’m still doing okay in terms of dealing with staying at home all the time, but I think I’m starting to feel a restlessness that stems from inactivity. I literally get up, sit at my desk, eat, lie in bed reading/gaming, eat, and the cycle repeats. I’ve always been awful with exercise but I think the lack of movement is really starting to get to me now. I hate that I’m always shy to do exercise in public spaces for fear of ridicule (even now) and that I’m just SO LAZY. Lame… 😂

But on another note, how is everyone doing? I hope you’re all doing okay and have found ways to cope with the stress of being at home 24/7 and not being able to do the things you normally do. If you ever need to talk, I’m just one message away either here, on Twitter or on Instagram, so hit me up!

Reading & Blogging Recap

I’ve read very little this week… And when I say little I mean I haven’t picked up a book since I finished my last blog tour read on Tuesday. I mean, I read bits of Ruthless Gods and I’m now reading, but I did spend the majority of my week playing Animal Crossing (surprise, surprise). Just as I was starting to slowly spend less time on it, I got to a new level of being able to do things in the game and… Well, there we go! Woops 🤣 I’ve also been spending less time blog hopping and I’m sorry if I haven’t come around your blog lately. I will try to make up for it this week! ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

Top 5 Saturday: Sibling Relationships
Review: Donut Disturb (Donut Disturb #1) by Melissa Williams
First Lines Friday: 17 April
Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits Blog Tour Review
#WWWWednesday: 15 April
#TopTenTuesday: Books I Heart but Rarely Talk About!
#5OnMyTBR: Heartwarming Graphic Novels
Goodreads Monday: Good Omens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman

TRACK HIGHLIGHT

Honestly wasn’t loving this track when it first came out but for some reason it kept coming up every day last week at least once on my random Spotify playlist mixes and it grew on me. Big time! I’m loving the 80s vibe in the track. A total turn from last week’s mellow tune!

How has your week been? Did you get a lot of reading done?
Hope you had a great weekend and have a great week ahead! 😊

  1. I’ve been blog hopping a lot less this week, too, but it’s been because I had a wild hair to reorganize my whole home. LOL! But, it’s also meant that I’ve gotten a lot of audiobook time in. Enjoy your Animal Crossing but definitely try to get some exercise in. It’ll help you feel better! I’m speaking to myself here, too….

    • How did the reorganising go, Ali!? Are you happy with the reorganisation? Lol I do find reorganising things tiring but also the idea of it is exciting because new layouts–woo! 🤣 Hope you had a good weekend ❤

  2. I think the whole current…. whatever the heck this is… anyway I think it’s leading to us all blog hopping a little less. I find that some days I just don’t have the motivation to read blog posts even though it’s something I love… strange times Dini. Strange times indeed! 💖🧡💜

  3. I honestly have no idea how you manage to do so many blog tours + work + read other books + play animal crossing + post almost daily! Do you days have more hours than mine????? 😀
    You’re doing amazing, hun ❤ And blog hopping [and answering comments…oops] can be very daunting sometimes, definitely don't force it if you don't feel like doing it. We are all here in the same boat and know and understand what it's like.

    • HAHAHA well, considering how I’m only responding your comment from 6 days ago now… I don’t think I’m doing that great on the blogging front this week 🤣I’ve really been flagging this week coz work went crazy and … well, Animal Crossing 🤷🏻‍♀️ Finally managed to finish ONE book today *woohoo* but have three blog tours next week so… That’s gonna be fun Hahaha I hope you had a good week/end, Alex ❤

  4. I’m the same way about exercising! I can’t stand to do it in front of people. I have been locking myself in my room and I do yoga and cardio dance along with YouTube. Just about 25 mins worth, so nothing too hard, but it definitely helps to get me motivated for the rest of the day. Hang in there!

    • This is something that I’d like to do but since I moved back into my nan’s house, my room is tiny and I just feel weird doing it outside in case someone sees? Haha but maybe I can do the movements with minimal stretching, maybe I can do more jumping 😂 But I should definitely try to find a work around! Hope you’re doing well, Dedra ❤
