Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [46]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I spent a part of my Sunday morning finishing my tour read for The Deep. It wasn’t as spooky as I expected, which is always a pleasant surprise for an Ultimate Chicken™️ such as myself because that means I can read it without fear of my feet being grabbed by things once I step outside the safety zone that is my bed 🤣

Someone, or something, is haunting the Titanic.

This is the only way to explain the series of misfortunes that have plagued the passengers of the ship from the moment they set sail: mysterious disappearances, sudden deaths. Now suspended in an eerie, unsettling twilight zone during the four days of the liner’s illustrious maiden voyage, a number of the passengers – including millionaires Madeleine Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim, the maid Annie Hebbley and Mark Fletcher – are convinced that something sinister is going on . . . And then, as the world knows, disaster strikes.

Years later and the world is at war. And a survivor of that fateful night, Annie, is working as a nurse on the sixth voyage of the Titanic’s sister ship, the Britannic, now refitted as a hospital ship. Plagued by the demons of her doomed first and near fatal journey across the Atlantic, Annie comes across an unconscious soldier she recognises while doing her rounds. It is the young man Mark. And she is convinced that he did not – could not – have survived the sinking of the Titanic . . .

What are you currently reading?

I really can’t believe it’s already Sunday evening because I feel like my weekend has just started. Can I have it back please? If I’m honest I’ve done very little this weekend. I finished two books, one I started reading partly last week, I got caught up on all my Webtoons, and oh, I chopped off ten inches of hair! 😭 I finally took the plunge this weekend and cut my hair. It took me three years to grow it out and it was so long it almost reached my bum! 😂 But my hair is hella thin and the weight was not doing it any favours so… *snip snip* My head feels super light now but I’m also in mourning for my hair?

I wanted to balayage my hair a cute pastel colour (either pastel purple, pink or turquoise) but because I box dyed my hair black two months ago, I have to wait a couple more before I can do it as apparently black box dye is the worst? I will keep hanging on to the idea of colouring my hair to cheer me up!

Reading & Blogging Recap

I feel like its been a bit slow on the reading front lately… I just realised looking at my posts this week that I haven’t made any reviews which kind of makes me feel like I haven’t been reading, but I know I’ve been finishing blog tour books so I’m writing those reviews and scheduling them in advance. This should make me feel accomplished and like I’m doing something right, right? But I honestly think that reading the things I need to read in advance is making me lazy and complacent 😬 I hope this isn’t the start of a slump!

Things have been business as usual on the blogging front. Here’s what I wrote this week ICMYI:

Top 5 Saturday: Trilogies
Down the TBR Hole – 15
First Lines Friday: 06 March
February Reading Challenge Update
February Monthly Wrap Up!
#WWWWednesday: 04 March
#TopTenTuesday: One Word Titles
Havenfall Blog Tour: Review & Favourite Quotes
Goodreads Monday: All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

How has your week been? Did you get a lot of reading done?
Hope you had a great weekend!

    • Did you get your hair done too?! I mean, yeah, it is definitely freeing and I enjoy not sitting or lying on my hair and not having it pull whenever I move, but I do miss the length and tying it up. The frizz is making the current length I have awkward AF 😂

  1. OOOH ten inches! NOT ENOUGH DINI 😂😂😂 my hair is almost down to my shoulders (just before washing when the curl has straightened out) and I can’t cope. Much too long for me. I need to get it chopped up super short again. I feel you with those box dyes though. I’ve given up dying my hair. It was just really weakening it and causing all sorts of problems. So ash blonde (*cough grey blonde cough cough*) it is!

    • OMG NOT ENOUGH!? I almost cried watching him snip it 🤣🤣🤣 And then he asked me if I dared to go shorter, almost like a boy’s cut but then he said I would have to properly style it every day to make it look good and I was like nah, I’m much too lazy for that haha how short do you usually get yours done? And *SIGH* y’know the only reason I box dyed my hair black was to get rid of the lovely white streaks I had going on near my temples 🙈 Damnit! Haha

      • I like to wear mine in a sort of angled bob that sits just at or above the hairline. Can’t be dealing with long hair Dini. I always envisaged it getting super tangled 😂😂😂😂

  2. I know the pain. I have long hair, mine crosses my bum…. And I have always had this long hair, so I am really attached to it. The only time I cut my hair is when I get split ends and then also only the edges but sometimes the stylist cuts my hair a little too much and I spend atleast a week in mourning and after that also each time I braid or tie my hair and see the length I plunge into a mini mourning.

    • It takes ages to grow hair that long! I think it’s perfectly natural to get attached to it after ‘nurturing’ its growth for years lol I just felt my thin hair couldn’t handle the length anymore but now I wish I took it in baby steps to cut it as short as I did 😂 Haha I know it’ll grow back… But still! I’m glad you get me 😛

      • I understand one of friends also had it cut really short because she was having a lot of hairfall. but I guess whatever the reason might be you’re bound to feel sad even if it was for the better.

    • It was a lot 😭 Especially since it took me ages to grow it out! But… it does feel lighter and that’s nice. I can’t wait to colour it though 😀 give my hair a bit of a kick coz right now it’s super basic (which is OK too) haha I like the idea of balayage pastel because it’s not a full head of colour at least! It’s been ages since I did anything with my hair lol

    • Agh, I’m so obsessed with Webtoons but I’m also hella picky haha I have a solid list of faves though ❤
The Deep was interesting but very different to what I expected. It's less paranormal horror than it is a creeping mystery that gets under your skin!

  3. Aww, I’m sure your new cut is gorgeous! And hair will always grow back anyway. 🙂
I was thinking about balayage as well (the main selling point for me is that I don’t need to retouch it often, and only if I want to), but… still thinking 😀

February and now March have been soooo busy. I haven’t finished a single book this month yet D: and I feel very disconnected from the bookish community. Oh well…

    • Thanks Alex! I know hair grows back it just took so long to grow it out and I just kinda miss it 😂 That was one of the same selling points for balayage for me! And it’s not like a whole head of colour so if I don’t like it after a while I can just snip snippety the ends and it’ll be OK 😅

Oh no! Sounds like incredibly hectic months for you! Hope you find some time to relax and read a book soon ❤ The book community is gonna be here waiting for you when you get back 😉

  4. Aw, I bet your hair is so cute! But I totally get the anxiety of cutting it. I’m the same way. 🙂 I’m very intrigued by The Deep. I haven’t decided if I’ll pick it up yet or not. 😉

    • Hahaha my hair cut is actually pretty basic? 😅 I was planning to get it coloured so I let the haircut itself be just a slightly asymmetrical cut but it’s so basic all my colleagues haven’t even noticed I got my hair cut even though it’s short AF now? It’s kinda funny 🤣 I really miss my long hair though… But I’m trying to remind myself it grows back! Haha my review for The Deep is coming out tomorrow! It was an interesting read but definitely not as paranormal scary as I expected!

    • The blog tours really kept me going but now that I’ve read all of those books I feel a little stranded offshore or something. Haha do I continue on the fantasy kick or do I branch out to something else? My feels can’t decide 😂
