I first discovered this post on BookLoversBlog on NYE and decided it was the perfect way to wrap up my reading and blogging year. The survey was originally created by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner and asks us questions that reflect the last year of books, reading and blogging. I was wondering how I would do my yearly wrap up and I’m so glad I stumbled across this survey because it’s not only fun but also covers all the bookish and blogging bases. And so we’ve come to the third and final part of this comprehensive survey and it’s about Looking Ahead in 2020. If you’re curious, don’t forget to check out Part I (2019 Stats & Best in Books) and Part II (Blogging/Bookish Life)!

1. One book you didn’t get to in 2019 but will be your number 1 priority in 2020?
Well, there’s a disappointing number of books that I was adamant I’d read before 2019 ended and I didn’t end up getting around to… I think that’s perhaps the worst part about being a mood reader and if I force myself to pick it up anyway I’d probably really not enjoy it. But I digress! One book I’m really looking forward to reading is The Toll by Neal Shusterman. I’m starting my re-read of Scythe now, so I’ll hopefully get to The Toll very soon!
2. Book you are most anticipating for 2020 (non-debut)?

Well the first one that pops into my head is A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers #2) by Brigid Kemmerer. I can’t wait to continue on with the series and see what happens next. I’ve heard some mixed reviews that have me a little worried but I’m hoping that I’ll enjoy it as much as ACSDAL, especially since it’s gonna be about Grey 😍
3. 2020 debut you are most anticipating?

Loveboat, Tapiei by Abigail Hing Wen is a debut I’ve been hearing a lot about lately. I’ve pretty much heard all the positive things about it and I’m really excited to read it, especially since it’s an own voices (and it’ll also contribute to my goal of reading more by Asian authors for YARC)!
4. Series ending/a sequel you are most anticipating in 2020?

Aurora Burning (Aurora Cycle #2) by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
I’m in love with this gorgeous cover and I mean just… YAAAAS. That is all.
5. One thing you hope to accomplish or do in your reading/blogging life in 2020?
This year I hope to write more discussion posts on my blog. Discussion posts are something that still intimidate me a lottle because I don’t know that I’d really have anything to share that other people would enjoy reading? But I’m going to push myself out of my comfort zone this year and try to add more depth to my blog 🙂
6. A 2020 book you’ve already read and recommend to everyone (if applicable)?
I have a few 2020 eARCs on my list but I haven’t read any yet… I really have to get on that!

That’s a wrap on Part III of the End of Year Book Survey for 2019! I quite enjoyed doing this wrap up and I think it’s a tradition that I’m going to continue in the future. 2019 has been a crazy year for reading and blogging. I’m glad that I finally stopped procrastinating and started up this blog in March 2019 because it’s been an experience that, while at times intimidating and tiring, I’ve enjoyed immensely! I feel so lucky to have met all of you on here and I couldn’t be more pleased that I now have reading/blogging friends that I can ramble on to about books 🤣 I’m really looking forward to what 2020 has to bring in terms of both. I know I can go around in circles when I ‘talk’ but I hope that you all stick around with me for whatever comes next! Haha Happy reading (and blogging!) and I hope everyone has a wonderfully bookish 2020! 🥳

I thought Loveboat, Tapiei by Abigail Hing Wen looks very interesting as well 😀

I’m so looking forward to your discussion posts Dini. You have tonnes to say about reading and being a bibliophile in general so I’m sure they’ll be fab. And if anyone doesn’t like what you’ve got to say send them my way!! I’m always stirring up the controversial opinions so I’m used to people not exactly loving my take on things lol 😂😂😂 In all seriousness though my attitude is I write from the heart, I talk about my personal experiences and opinions, and that if I’m honest and true to myself then that’s more than enough. It’s not about making other people agree with me or see things my way, it’s about having my voice heard and feeling like I can be myself. It’s all about the right to have agency over our own life narratives :))))

EMERRR, I love you! You’re so supportive and awesome!!! 🥰😍🥰 Thank you for all the encouragement!!! You’re right. Maybe it’s not about making people agree with you and of course people will have tons of different opinions, so it’s just about expressing myself well and hopefully I will not insult anyone with my thoughts! But I’ll defo be sure to send them your way if anyone attacks me (jkjkjks but maybe) 🤣🤣🤣 hahaha

Yaaas, do it! It’s so much fun! Perhaps not as much fun as the Illuminae series coz that one had such a unique mixed media format of telling, but it’s still loads of fun found family and space action vibes! 😍
