Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I picked up a book for all of five minutes this Sunday but now that it’s well into the evening, I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my night in bed with The Boy, the Wolf, and the Stars! I’m reading this for the blog tour next week and I managed to read five minutes of it this morning before my day became crazy! But how good does this synopsis sound?! I’m so excited to cosy up with it tonight!

A boy and his pet fox go on a quest to find a wolf who has eaten all the stars in the sky before the Shadow Witch destroys the stars and removes good magic from the world forever.

Long ago, the land of Ulv was filled with magic. But that was before a wolf ate all the Stars in the night sky, ridding the world of magic and allowing Shadow Creatures, beasts made of shadow and evil, to flourish. Twelve-year-old Bo knows the stories but thinks the Stars and the wolf who ate them are nothing more than myths—until the day Bo’s guardian, Mads, is attacked by a giant wolf straight from the legends. With his dying breath, Mads tells Bo that Ulv is in danger and the only way to prevent the Shadow Creatures from taking over is to return the Stars to the sky.

And so Bo—accompanied by his best friend, a fox called Nix, a girl named Selene who’s magic is tied to the return of the Stars, and Tam, a bird-woman who has vowed to protect Bo at all costs—sets off on a quest to find the three magical keys that will release the Stars. But Bo isn’t the only one who wants the Stars, and the friends soon find themselves fleeing angry villagers, greedy merchants, and a vengeful wolf. And all the while, an evil witch lurks in the shadows and time is running out.

#WWWWednesday: 11 November

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday, I’ve managed to finish seven books, three of which were overdue graphic novel ARCs that I got on NetGalley. I don’t know why I put those off for so long but I’m glad that I finally read them and can tick them off my endless to-read list! 😂

Mistletoe & Mr. Right (Moose Springs #2) by Sarah Morgenthaler ★★★★☆
I loved the quirky weird charm of The Tourist Attraction, but I really connected with Lana and Rick and very quickly fell in love with their love in this book! I loved coming back to Moose Springs, although the townspeople were a little harder to love. Lana and Rick both stole my heart and I loved that they were such opposite characters but complemented each other so well. Check out my full review!

The Grémillet Sisters: Sarah’s Dream by Giovanni Di Gregorio, Alessandro Barbucci ★★★☆☆
I requested this because the artwork looked like my favourite kind and I wasn’t wrong! The art style threw me back to my good old W.I.T.C.H. comic reading days (anyone else remember that one?!) and I loved it. The dynamic between the sisters was relatable and the mystery intriguing, but I really wish we got more background… Check out my full review!

#WWWWednesday: 04 November

It’s funny how an event on the other side of the world has been able to consume my day, as if I really have any stake at all in what’s happening over there. All my friends and many colleagues have been ridiculously preoccupied by the elections, and we’re all waiting with bated breath to see what happens next. It’s been tough watching and it’s still going, but I’m with you all in spirit and really thinking of you, friends! If you need to be distracted, please reach out!

It’s still been pretty slow going on the reading front and I think it’s because I’m so distracted by all the books that I want to read and can’t decide which comes first. Since last Wednesday I’ve finished four books and I’m happy to say that all of them were really enjoyable and it was a week of solid fours!

Love Offline by Olivia Spring ★★★★☆
I read this for a blog tour and it was a really fun story full of realistic characters and relatable experiences! The romance was heartwarming and the chemistry between our characters was undeniable. Definitely recommended for those who love a contemporary romance that’s sure to make you laugh and is full of quirky charm! Read my review

The Highland Laird (Lord of the Highlands #8) by Amy Jarecki ★★★★☆
I swooped in on this after reading Julie’s review and well, I’m definitely sold on Scottish historical romances 🤣 I mean, oof. This was such a wonderful romance! The H/H were both great characters and they stole my heart. Despite being total opposites they understand each other more than anyone else, and they truly bring out the best in each other. I adored their love. Review to come!

It’s Sunday evening and I spent the afternoon reading an ARC that I already finished, and since then I’ve been undecided on what to pick up next. I think I might be going with Kingdom of the Wicked or The Crowns of Croswald. But it’s also highly probably that I’ll end up going in a completely different direction from fantasy and read some romance because my mood is a fickle beast right now, and I can only obey its whims. 😂

#WWWWednesday: 28 October

Ugh, I’ve been hitting struggle town real hard since last week but… is it just me or is this week lasting forever? I can’t believe it’s Wednesday but I really wish it was already Friday 😂

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

It’s been a slow time for reading lately and it’s not just playing my Switch that has me distracted. I’ve been in a reading mood but haven’t been able to really settle on anything lately, and since last week I’ve only managed to finish three books.

Beneath Black Sails (Beneath Black Sails #1) by Clare Sager ★★★★☆
This was an undeniably fun, fast-paced and action-packed story that was able to fully absorb my attention and that’s why I’ve rounded up and kept my review at four stars. There are things that irritated me about the characters and the world-building was lacking, but this was the most pirate filled (romance)fantasy that I’ve ever read and I was here for its pure entertainment. Review coming soon.

This Sunday I’m trying to read but I’m having such a hard time focusing because my moods are a little all over the place! I’ve started reading The Song of the Marked again and I am enjoying it. Even though I haven’t made much of a dent, I’ve laughed a surprising number of times already because the banter is great!

I also started Love Offline as I need to get it read for the tour next week. The blurb says it’s perfect for fans of The Flatshare, Lindsey Kelk and Sophie Kinsella, so I have high expectations? Let’s see how it plays out! Both book covers are linked to the Goodreads pages if you wanna know more about them!

Stuck At Home Book Tag

Hello friends! I was in the mood to do another tag today, but instead of looking to the many (so many) tags that’ve been lingering on my ‘tagged files’, I decided to do the Stuck At Home Book Tag that Sammie @ The Bookwyrm’s Den tagged me in last month. Big thanks for the tag! 🖤If you haven’t already hopped on over to check out her blog then what are you waiting for?! Sammie’s one of my favourite bloggers and her posts never fail to make me laugh because she’s a funny one and her content is always goals (seriously)!

…So now that we’ve got that covered, let’s get straight to it!

  3. What will you read next?

Since last week’s update I’ve only managed to read two books. The struggle has been super real what with work really draining my energy, and it feels like I finished reading something other than these two books but… I guess not. Perhaps I’ve just lost the plot and have started making things up? 😂

The Magic Ingredient by Lindy Miller ★★★½
The perfect autumnal romance about second chances, family and discovering what’s important. This was a super sweet and wholesome romance that’s set against the backdrop of a small community, and it has all the wonderful small-town quirkiness that I love in these types of novels! Also, this made me crave sweet desserts like never before! I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to get my hands on a whoopie pie so badly 😂 Read my review.

It’s already Sunday evening and I’ve not done much reading today… But I will be spending the rest of my night in bed reading Legends Rise, book three in the Venators series. I read a bit of it already this morning and I’ve been enjoying it so far! It’s been a while since I read the previous book (also, my memory is weak) it took a little bit of warming up to remember what happened, but it does feel good to be back in this world and with these characters. I still feel like Grey must be protected at all costs and oh my, I’m loving Beltran even more!

The path will be forged in sweat and blood.
Rune, Grey, the shape-shifter Beltran, and willful vampire, Verida, set out to rescue their friend and mentor, Tate, from the gladiator games. But first they must navigate the perils of Eon and its warring factions. Each of this band of four carries with them a secret that threatens to tear their group apart from within. Rune now bears the mark of the promise she made to save Grey’s life-a nixie bubble lodged in her arm that could call her away to do their bidding or spell her death.
Even as their loyalty to their cause and to one another faces its greatest test, Rune’s twin brother Ryker is forging an alliance with their mortal enemy, the powerful sorceress Zio, who has plans of her own for the Venators and Eon. Hearts will be bared, secrets unveiled, and relationships made and destroyed in this stunning new installment of the Venators series
