Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [339]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’ll be spending my Sunday night in bed with The Second Death of Locke by V. L. Bovalino (39%). This is my current buddy read with Chris although its been massively disrupted by everything that has happened this week. (So sorry, Chris!)

So far, I’m liking this a lot. There is so much yearning and I love that I can feel the intensity of our FMC’s emotions. It’s so angsty in a good way! 😂 The world-building and magic system has also been really interesting. I feel like this is definitely a slow burn in terms of plot, but I’m enjoying the journey!

What book do you have in bed with you this Sunday?

SO much has happened this week that I find it hard to believe its only been a week that has passed. On Tuesday morning, my uncle passed away. He was mum’s older sister’s husband and out of all her siblings (of which there are ten), we’ve always been closest to them. They were definitely like second parents to my mum and growing up, we always stayed with them when we visited Indonesia for the summer. I also lived with them when I first moved to Indonesia as an adult and they really helped me find my feet. My uncle’s decline was shockingly fast, and so his passing felt quite sudden, but I think the most heartbreaking part was seeing my aunt say goodbye to her life partner of over 50 years. Still makes me weepy thinking about it, but I’m glad he’s no longer in pain now, and even though it’s gonna be tough for her, my aunt has so many people surrounding her who love her. ❤️‍🩹

As Balinese Hindu, there’s been a lot to prepare ceremonially, and mum has been super busy with her siblings sorting that out, so I’ve been helping take dad to his various doctor appointments throughout the week. Then on Friday evening, I got mad food poisoning, but had to accompany him to the hospital at the crack of dawn on Saturday for his steroid shot to manage his chronic back pain. The only thing is, insurance only covers in full if he stays overnight(??) so I had to stay with him until Sunday morning. It was a long day, but I told myself that at least I was in the hospital if my stomach situation didn’t get any better. Bright side, right? 🙃 Dad is now feeling as spry as ever since the shot has dulled his pain, and I happily crashed out the minute we got home! Thankfully, after not consuming anything but water yesterday, my stomach is doing heaps better today. Yay! Still in disbelief it’s only Sunday and feel mildly disappointed at the same time cos I have to go to the office tomorrow. 🤡

ICYMI, here’s what I posted this week:

I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜
