Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [258]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’m spending Sunday night in bed continuing my re-read of Stardust in their Veins by Laura Sebastian. It’s the second book in the series and it’s definitely giving “moving all the chess pieces into place” but I’m still enjoying it a lot! Daphne is truly trying my nerves though, lol.

What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

I’m going to keep this here for a while in case more people decide to migrate over but Bluesky seems to really be kicking off over the past week. If you want to find me there I’m dinipandareads.bsky.social! 💜

This past week was so busy and I’m looking forward to less busy weeks as the year continues wrapping up. Incoming emotional outpouring in 3… 2… 1.

I guess I have been feeling a bit more emotional than usual lately but I experienced a tough moment mid-week that really shattered my ability to care about my work. I tend to have a fairly “tough” attitude when it comes to work—I’m generally good at taking feedback or constructive criticism (or even non-constructive criticism!) in stride. However, what I got told mid-week was so shocking that it made me completely question everything that I have been doing.

This is a .gif of a popular meme of Jennifer Lawrence from the "Hot Ones" show. Lawrence is tearing up and saying "What do you mean?" twice as she laugh-cries because the chicken wings are too spicy.

It honestly made me want to get up and just quit and even though I’m trying not to get heated thinking about it, I’m getting heated because it essentially shows that the big boss doesn’t know what I do, despite regularly communicating about it. 😂 And it’s not about getting credit but it’s more astonishment on my part because what do you mean it’s a good “new” idea to implement something that I’ve already been doing for the past year+? WHAT DO YOU MEAN???

Anyway, I’m lowkey surprised that I’m still feeling this upset about it but I think it just makes me question why I’m even there to begin with. I’m just sad and tired. Mostly sad. 🥲

I had plans to blog-hop this week but then Wednesday happened and I basically lost all motivation to do anything. 🫣 I then spent the weekend gaming when I probably could’ve been reading more but the mindless out-of-world gaming escape was necessary.

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

I haven’t watched the Wicked movie yet (ngl I’m kinda nervous about it since I just saw it on Broadway in September and it was amazing) BUT I’ve been listening to the soundtrack all weekend! There were a few changes that I initially wasn’t feeling but they’ve grown on me now! Are you a Wicked fan?

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

  1. I have been working full time for 30+ years, so I am not surprised to hear about what happened to you, but I understand how it can make you feel. ((HUGS)) I hope you are able to still feel good about your accomplishments even if they go unnoticed. Or maybe some show tunes can pick you up a bit.

    • It’s such a bummer to hear that it’s not surprising (and it’s not but that makes it very sad). Thanks, Sam! 🫂 I think it just really shook me up because I thought I was doing good and then to be told something like that I had to yank myself out of there so fast before I let myself look too shaken up and emotional, lol. Ah well, the show tunes are definitely helping with the cathartic process! Getting out all the emotions listening to Cynthia Erivo belt her heart out! 😍

  2. No wonder you feel so pissed, I would be too, it’d be weird if you didn’t! The nerve of your boss, but for some reason, why is that not surprising? I know you will not forget about it anytime soon but hopefully you can get some distractions from it. Wishing you the best!

    • Thanks Anna. It was a shock for sure, lol. But also, like you said, why is that not surprising? Very sad! I’ve been doing good with the distractions but it did prevent me from blog hopping like usual. I need to get back to it this week! I hope you have a good one ahead 🙂

  3. I’m not sure what is wrong with bosses these days. I totally understand why you are upset. You’ve had a lot of responsibility over the last year and for him not to know what you do would be frustrating. I love Wicked, and hope to see the movie, but not for a bit now. I will let the hype die down a bit. I hope this upcoming week is better for you, Dini.

    • Thanks Carla, I don’t know or understand it either. It’s exactly as you said—I worked so hard and feel like I’m constantly breaking my back to get things right and then this? Sigh… 🤦🏻‍♀️ I wanted to wait and let the Wicked hype die down before seeing it but I also don’t know how popular it is here in Indonesia and I’m worried that they’ll yank it out of the cinema faster than I anticipate. I didn’t end up seeing it today but I’m doing so tomorrow! 😃 I hope you have a great week ahead!

  4. Oh wow. That situation with your boss really sucks. It sounds like you have every right to be mad and disappointed. It’s never a great feeling to have your work overlooked or taken for granted. I hope things get better for you there.

I really want to go see Wicked. I saw it on Broadway over a decade ago and absolutely loved it. I’m also a sucker for anything with Jonathan Bailey in it. 😊

    • Thanks, it just really shocked me because of how often we talk about communication and getting inputs from him. Inputs that feed into exactly what he thought would be a “great new idea” to implement. 🤯 Just kind of has me feeling deflated, lol. I am so glad that I went to see Wicked on Broadway! It was my first time seeing it too and now it’s one of my favourites 😍 I can’t wait to watch it although I’m kinda surprised that it’s only HALF the story. I swear I did not know this when I first heard they were doing a movie adaptation, lol.

  5. So sorry about your job situation Dini! I hope things get better. I saw Wicked when the production came to Hawaii years ago (almost 10 years ago) and I loved it but honestly have forgotten what happens of course Defying Gravity was the stand out moment for me. I’m so excited to see the movie because I love Ariana, Cynthia and Jonathan Bailey. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack all weekend also!

    • Thanks, Yolanda. It defo felt like a gut punch but I am working my past it now 🙂 Haha

I watched the movie last night and it was INCREDIBLE! I loved everyone in it—they did so good and the music… I wanted to watch it again immediately after it ended. I’m still obsessed with the soundtrack. It’s so dang good! 😍 I hope you love it whenever you get to watch it!

      • So I’ve been playing the soundtrack and my kids have been subjected to it (my son says he does not like musicals except like The Greatest Showman lol…) but last night he said, mom, can I come watch Wicked with you? 🤯. And my daughter was like me too! I had asked them if they would go with me last week and they were like ehhh…but after hearing the soundtrack on repeat haha, they are now curious! Hopefully we can watch it this weekend.
