We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is actually Characters I’d Like to go on Vacation With (Pretend you’re going on vacation and can bring 10 of your closest friends with you. Pick your vacation spot and tell us who you’d like to bring! Bonus point if you tell us why. Or maybe you like the idea of traveling in small groups, so plan 10 trips or 5 trips!) but I’m going rogue!
I’m feeling rather tired and uninspired today so I’m going rogue although I think I’ll stick to the travel theme and look instead at books with fictional places I’d love to visit. Even if there’s a high chance that I won’t last 5 minutes in some of these locations. Lol. This isn’t a new topic though I can’t remember when I last did it, but I also can’t be bothered to go check (I’m really having one of those days). 😂 On that note, here are 10 fictional (bar one) places that I’d love to see!
- Kekon from The Green Bone Saga: I don’t even know if I have to say anything. This series is so dear to me and I would give anything to visit this place. 😭
- Hearthaven from Falling for Fables: I would love to visit this island where all sorts of magical beings come to live in (relative) peace and harmony. I’d especially love to visit the Yule Festival and the Traveling Tavern!
- The Starless Sea from The Starless Sea: Even with everything that happens and how rather terrified I was visiting some places deeper in the Starless Sea, I’d still love to visit this place made for bibliophiles. 💜
- Hrafnsvik from Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries: Listen, I know this frozen icy tundra doesn’t seem like the ideal place to visit but I’d love to meet the townsfolk, especially Lilja, and POE! 😍
- Nevermoor from Nevermoor: Aah, I want to visit this magical city so badly! I’ll definitely be staying at the Hotel Deucalion with Fenestra and Frank and all the delightful other things that make this place magical and feel like home every time I visit! 😍
- Tanria Wasteland from The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy: I know that with it being a wasteland once ruled by exiled Gods, with dangerous people and even more dangerous drudges this doesn’t seem like an ideal place to visit. But I’d love to visit Hart & Mercy and their home and to see them in action… So I guess it’s more about the people than the place, lol 😂
- The City of Thune from Legends & Lattes: Well, I’d want to visit their coffee shop specifically and finally get a taste of Thimble’s delightful baked goods! 🥹
- The city under the sea from The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea: This place gave me such Ghibli vibes and ugh, I just loved how vibrant and *alive* it all felt!
- Panga from A Psalm for the Wild-Built: It might be lonely or scary visiting Panga but no doubt also amazing. I’d particularly want to traverse Panga alongside Mosscap and Sibling Dex and experience all they do!
- Norwich from The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches: It’s the only real place on this list and it’s also one I formerly called home. I loved my time in Norwich and I miss living there. In this case, although I do specifically mean that I’d love to visit this ‘home of irregular witches’, I’d take simply visiting the city and the broads too! 😉
So, would anyone want to travel with me to any of these places? It’d be a lot more fun with company, I’m sure! 😉 What are some fictional (or real) places that you’d love to visit from books you’ve read?
Panga would be an incredible place to visit!

I would want to visit Hart & Mercy’s home but avoid the wasteland. These all sound like fun and interesting places to visit.

I’ve seen lots of people put Megan’s book on their list and it does look like a fun read. 🙂

“Even if there’s a high chance that I won’t last 5 minutes in some of these locations.” I really felt this lol even the more mundane fantasy worlds – I need my creature comforts.

This is so perfect, I love it!! I love The Green Bone Saga, and Emily Wilde’s world, and definitely Viv’s cafe! I’ve yet to read the other books, but they all sound wonderful!

Yes, I agree! I would love to see the safer parts of The Starless Sea! And having coffee at Viv’s (plus Thimble’s pastries, of course) sounds amazing.

I’m sure there was something about doughnuts in The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy – I’d definitely be up for a visit there!

I couldn’t come up with anything on topic either, but this is always a fun one. I don’t know how I feel about the Hart & Mercy wasteland. Seems sort of scary

Such good picks! I’d love to visit Tanria, minus the danger. Bannen build such a vivid world with that one.

Nice idea for a twist. You could take the characters along with you, you’d already have a guide.
Thank you for visiting my TTT about Characters I’d like to go on vacation with.

It looks like many of us would like to visit Thune or at least try Thimble’s baked goods.

I think I will do my traveling to these places from my armchair, Dini. You have tweaked my interest in a few of these though.

I read a fair amount of cozy mysteries that are set in these beautiful, quaint, friendly fictional towns where I would totally want to visit except that an awful lot of murder happens there! LOL
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Hrafnsvik from Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries is an interesting choice. I would have said the fairy realm but the icy village is a great choice! (And a lot safer)

I’d love to visit the city of Thune too and ESPECIALLY (mostly) the coffee shop to try those baked goods. The city under the sea also sounded so nice, would love to be able to visit it too 🙂
