We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be rounding off my night with Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. I wanted to spend the day bingeing this and almost did until the afternoon when things got busy. It’s shaping up to be another 5-star read though and it might even be my fave Jenkins so far? Let’s see!
Also, I was looking up the original mass-market clinch cover for this and it’s freaking gorgeous but it is also ยฃ400+?! Weeping. ๐ญ
What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

This week felt like it lasted forever but it also went by very quickly. We had our Presidential elections and the outcome is as I predicted it would be so while it’s not necessarily surprising, it is quite disheartening. Long story short, the candidate who’s leading the polls has been accused of multiple human rights abuses. He was linked to the kidnapping and disappearances of pro-democracy activists in the late 90s and to rights abuses in Papua and East Timor. I hate politics but also fear what it means when a person like this can have such a lead, especially as the majority of voters are younger than 40 this year! ๐ฎโ๐จ
In other news, I’m leaving for Japan in a week (next Sunday) and all that’s left to do now is for me to pack! I’m really looking forward to getting out of here and also experiencing some cooler weather, lol.

Today I decided to put Homegoing on pause, not because I wasn’t enjoying it, but because I was getting frustrated that I couldn’t give it the attention I wanted to. I didn’t want to put it down but I will until I have more headspace to devote to it.
I had a productive Sunday morning and recorded a few short reels. I’m trying to do better with posting on bookstagram again and I’ve been doing ok so far. My whole thing is overthinking and spending too much time getting reels right so everything takes forever to record + edit, but since I’m not getting a whole lot of engagement I’m trying less hard and trying to have more fun. ๐
ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! ๐

I have been seeing your quite a bit on IG. Good job! How exciting! One week until Japan. I aspire to make it somewhere in Asia at some point in my life, but it is not looking good. I will have to soak up all the details you share with us. Safe travels and have a wonderful time with your sister (you are going to visit, right?)

Thanks, Sam! I’m really putting conscious effort into it but I still need to engage more with others on there, not just post and ditch ๐ It’s so easy to run out of content for IG though but I’m hoping to still keep up with things even when I’m in Japan. I hope one day that you’ll be able to visit Asia! And yes, I’m going to visit my sister and we’ve never gone anywhere together just the two of us before now so I’m looking forward to it. ๐

Engagement on IG usually comes from engagement accounts – for likes – and comment pods for comments. Just a little tip that it took me forever to figure out. I need to make sure I have you in my favorites, so I can comment on your posts. I usually go through my favorites and then on to the pods Iโm in. I can connect you with both if you ever want me too.
Have fun in Japan!

How interesting. It’s so different to when I first started on IG several years ago! It’s also so hard to get views at all if any ๐ I don’t know if I’m still posting at the wrong time but I never seem to get it right. But I’m also trying not to stress too much about it cos that’s not gonna help me at all, lol. I need to start being more active engaging with others but I never know who I’m following on my feed and who I’m not cos it seems full of people I don’t follow, lol. Maybe if I do stay active on IG I’ll come back to you about getting linked up on these pods. Thanks for the offer, Tessa! ๐

I’m sorry that the election didn’t go your way. Hopefully everything will still work out okay. Japan sounds like a fun way to take your mind off of it.

I was meant to spend today packing for Japan but have done nothing of the sort. Why am I so good at procrastinating!? ๐ I can’t wait to go though!
