Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [217]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending my Sunday in bed trying to figure out what to read next! I finished a 5-star read in the early hours of Sunday morning (3am to be exact) and as I’m still reeling from how it utterly emotionally wrecked me, I’m not quite sure what to read next. Here are the books I’ll read a couple of chapters from to figure it out:

Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR? What are you currently reading?

It’s been a rather slow and quiet week as I took sick leave from work for the first half of it! What a start to 2024 but I’ve recovered! It’s truly COVID season with so many people who are ill, although thankfully, I didn’t have COVID just your regular fever/flu. I’m attributing it to the erratic change in weather cos it has been oppressively humid but it also started raining, which made it a bit nippy, and I think my body is just thoroughly confused by what’s happening. 😂 Being sick in bed meant more reading time though!

I’m not trying to jinx myself but it’s been an awesome start to the new year of reading. I happily had my first DNF and yes, I do say happily because I’m trying to be more ruthless with my reading this year. There are so many books on my TBR and not enough time in the day for me to put myself through reading something I’m not enjoying! I hope this attitude lasts as the year goes on, lol. 😂

I also love the feeling of a new year of reading/blogging because it’s when I’m most organised! I’m enjoying filling out my new spreadsheet by Kal (highly recommended!), I scheduled more posts, and I even posted on Instagram for the first time in 50 years! Who am I even? I love it. 🥰

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

still one of my faves after all these years…
She – dodie

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

  1. Ooo, what was the 5 star read??! So, I’ve read Lenni and Margot and that was a super emotional read! Very good but emotional so keep that in mind! What is this spreadsheet you are speaking of?? I know, it’s something about the new year! I’ve changed up some logos on my site and have tried some scheduling. I hope I can keep it up! It’s been so good reconnecting with all of you though!

    • The 5-star for me was Sea of Tranquility! I didn’t expect to love it that much but it was so good and exactly what I love in sci-fi, lol. It was like cosy sci-fi and I enjoyed the author’s writing too. I heard Lenni & Margot was super emotional but I usually adore those reads cos they become cathartic for me 😂 I saw that you’d changed up your blog a bit—love the look! And I hope that you stick around cos I’ve missed interacting with you too 💜 Hope you’re having a great week so far, Leslie!

      • Those are the best reads because it’s so unexpected!! I’m so glad you’ve found a 5 star read already!! Yes, it’s very emotional but sometimes you need them to get a good cry out and feel good. haha. Thank you! It’s not much but somehow took a whole day to do. HAHA! I know, I’ve missed interacting with you and everyone, really. It’s been so nice being back the last week or so, consistently. I think I have published more posts in the last two weeks than the last 6 months. haha Finn is starting to play a little so I can get a good 20-30 mins to blog hop.

  2. It seems there is “something” going around worldwide. Sorry to hear you were unwell. If the last book you wrecked you emotionally, you may want to hold off on Lenni & Margot though it was a beautiful story of friendship.

    • Yep, definitely something going around worldwide, lol. I feel like sometimes when I read something that’s completely wrecking, I need to read something else that continues to wreck me—it’s just the mood, if that makes sense (tho probs not and I’m just weird)! 😂 I’ve got this book on a couple of my reading challenge options so there’s a good chance it’ll get read this year!

  3. Oh no! I’m sorry you’ve been sick. Glad it wasn’t covid, though. I was just talking to someone who had it the last couple weeks of December. She finally tested negative and then 3 days later rebounded and tested positive again. It sounds like this strain is miserable. I hope one of those 4 books fits what you need to read.

  4. Did you just say you published 7 posts this week? That’s crazy, good job! I’m struggling to post once a week haha, but I’ll hopefully get better at that this year. I’ve also just DNF’ed my first book this year, “The Wall”. It was dystopian, and the pacing was so slow I got impatient. My favorite part of the new year is probably a new reading spreadsheet.

    • Hehe, thank you. When I first started I used to sometimes even post twice a day on some days but once per day now is my usual when work stress doesn’t get in the way! It differs for everyone but I hope that you achieve whatever goal you set yourself for your blog (if you have one)! 😊 I also *love* starting new reading spreadsheets—I couldn’t wait to start filling in the one for 2024! I hope you’ve found better/more exciting reads now!

  5. I’m sorry you were sick, Dini! I’m glad it wasn’t COVID. A lot of people I know got it at the end of last year, things are a little crazy when it comes to COVID again. So glad you feel better! Happy reading!
