Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [193] ft. a mini-hiatus

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending my Sunday in bed reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I first read this in 2017(?) and haven’t re-read it since and when Becky said she was also planning to re-read it I immediately jumped on! I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as the first time but so far, so good. I love Schwab’s writing! 😍 I’m not the best buddy-reader at the moment with work and Zelda keeping me occupied—sorry, Becky!—but this book makes me want to disappear into reading!

What are you currently reading?

I know I’ve mentioned it a few times already now but work has become very hectic this month due to the big two-day event we’re hosting. There are now 1.5 weeks to go and everything still feels so up in the air? It’s making me incredibly nervous, especially since we’re working with an event organiser who doesn’t seem to know what they’re doing. I’ve also been delegated as a moderator during one of the seminars and I’m nervous as hell. I hate being centre-stage and that I have to moderate a discussion with high-level experts has my anxiety skyrocketing cos I’m terrified, LOL! 😭

Basically, all the teams in the office are exhausted. Some days my body and mind are so exhausted it’s a miracle I can even get myself to work and back again, which is why the most I’ve been doing is gaming—I can’t even handle reading! 😭 I can’t wait until June is over and I’m going to be taking as many leave days as possible after.

I probably should’ve done this at the start of the month considering how I’ve read little, blogged less, and reviewed nothing since mid-May but I’m going to take a mini-hiatus until June is over. I’m really looking forward to catching up or at least interacting with all of you again!

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

  1. Good luck with the event! I hope it all goes smoothly. I’d be terrified of being a moderator too. I hate being in the spotlight, and get super anxious and uncomfortable. I’ve had to do it lots for work and school, but it’s never become something I’m comfortable doing. I’ll be sending positive vibes your way!

    • I was not my best self leading up to the moderating business, especially since it was for the first seminar on the first day of the event and it was terrifying 😂 I survived it though and I’m so glad it’s over but I never ever ever want to do it again, LOL!

  2. I know anxiety is real, but focus on what you will learn from that wonderful experience, Dini. I’m sure you can’t wait until this event is behind you, I was the same when I was working. I read very little while I worked, so I totally get it. Sending positive thoughts your way that all goes well and things get smoothed out.

I was reading Where the Grass Grows Blue by Hope Gibb this morning in bed, but now that I am out, I am reading blog posts. Have a great week!

    • Thanks, Carla! It was really hard to focus on the positives in the moment because I was SO anxious and a nervous wreck but I am glad for the experience. I don’t want to do it again though, that’s for sure 😂 I’m definitely happier away from the spotlight and I’m extremely glad that the event is behind me now! Thanks for your positivity! 💜

    • Thanks, Nicole! Two weeks have come and gone since the event but it feels like it was just yesterday judging how poorly my body still feels. It’s incredible how much stress can really wreck your body 😂 I’m going to be taking off to the beach this weekend and I’ll be taking a week off work—I can’t wait!

      • Isn’t it!? I will forever be floored by how much our bodies respond to stress (ugh). But YAY for beach vacation and work breaks! You absolutely deserve it and I hope you have the best of time!

  3. Good luck with your event and I hope it goes well. I feel you on not keeping up with reading or blogging, especially this month. I’m going to be taking a few months off here soon. I’m thinking maybe next week. We will have to keep updated on our chat! I hope the rest of the month goes a little easier for you, Dini! ❤

  4. Fingers crossed the event goes well for you, and that you can get through it without too much anxiety. I hope Zelda is helping!! I read ADSOM forever ago, but I still have yet to pick up the second book in that series. I need to!!
