#WWWWednesday: 10 May 2023

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish reading three books and it was a solid week of 4-star reads!

Hunted (Kink Camp #1) by A. Anders ★★★★☆
With a title like Kink Camp, it’s obvious that this was a very steamy read but it was also surprisingly heartfelt and dealt with topics like grief and loss, but also about embracing your desires and being proud of who you are. I didn’t expect it but really enjoyed it!

Whiteout (Survival Instincts #1) by Adriana Anders ★★★★☆
This was a pretty intense romantic suspense set in the brutal frozen landscape of Antarctica and it was a well-balanced story with the sinister plot, action and romance all getting equal page time. I loved the slow-burn grumpy/sunshine romance that had the chance to grow thanks to the forced proximity—there was just one sleeping bag! 😉

Don’t Go Baking My Heart (Island Bites #2) by N. G. Peltier ★★★★☆
I was admittedly worried about how this would go because the MMC was the biggest stick in the mud and had the biggest stick shoved up his bum but the FMC was amazing, fantastic, wonderful! Her fun-shine attitude combined with her sass was everything. They are the epitome of opposites attract and I loved their grumpy/sunshine vibes.

I’ve got three reads on at the minute…

  • Sunbolt35% → I’m reading this for a blog tour and I’m really enjoying it!
  • Castles in their Bones35% → I’m reading this with Leslie and I’m *loving* it! I feel like things are about to pop off. I haven’t had the chance to keep reading this week cos work is wrecking me but I can’t wait to pick it back up again!
  • Runaway Love37% → I picked this up on a whim and I’m enjoying it. I love the FMC and the MMC’s kids are awesome 😍 I also really like Harlow’s writing!

The magic of ✨mood reading✨ means it could be any of these.

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. I’ve never read anything by Anders but I’ve had a copy of Whiteout sitting on my shelf for at least a year now. I really need to pick that one up but I keep feeling like I need to read it during cold weather – and that’s hard to come by here in Florida. LOL

    • I feel like I’ve had my copy of Whiteout for ages but I’m glad that I picked it up on a whim! I don’t read romantic suspense often but I quite enjoyed the combo 😃 I also 100% relate to the cold weather issue as I live in the tropics, lol. I hope you enjoy it whenever you pick it up though!

    • This is my second! I ended up feeling much the same way you did about it although I think I ended up enjoying it a bit more. I’m realising she does a lot of instalove and… I just finished another one of hers where the FMC/MMC dynamic was similar to this and where the MMC was also a bit of a rude idiot too. I hope that’s not a trend in her books! 😂

  2. So many books here that I’m looking forward to picking up. I’ve only read (and enjoyed) Whiteout. Hope you enjoy The Burning God. I’m going to be reading The Dragon Republic sometime this month.

  3. I read Whiteout in January for the Lost in Romance book club that I cohost with a friend. Romantic suspense isn’t a genre I read a lot of but I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I just finished reading Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas last night and Does it Hurt? by H.D. Carlton this morning both of which I enjoyed m. I haven’t started anything else yet.

    • I’m glad that I finally read Whiteout! I don’t read a lot of romantic suspense either but I agree it was fun 😃 I see you’ve been making steady progress with the Throne of Glass series! That’s one that I’m hoping to re-read this year so I can finally finish the last book, lol. I hope you enjoy whichever book you decide to read next!

      • Yes I can’t believe I read the entire series in 5 months. I wasn’t ready for it to be over with. I was buddy reading it with a friend. She had read all but the last book as well. I ended up starting 3 more books. The First to Die at the End by Adam Silvera, The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo which is actually a reread for me.
