Hello book lovers, I’m excited to be back with another tag today! Leslie @Books Are the New Black recently tagged me to do The Never Have I Ever Book Tag and I swear that I’d done it before but apparently, I was wrong. So YAY because that means I didn’t have to spend ages deciding what tag to do today at the last minute (as always)! 😂 But I digress…
Thanks for the tag, Leslie! If you haven’t checked her out yet, she’s one of my favourite book lovers and has an awesome blog, so please stop by if you haven’t already. On that note, let’s get to the tag!

NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a later book in a series before the first
Oops, I actually have done this and I’m kinda surprised that I have and actually, more than once! 😆 To be fair though, both times it was for a romance series and those don’t usually require books to be read in order. Don’t think I could ever do that with a fantasy or anything!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Burned a book
Omg NEVER! What?! I don’t think I ever could. That’s wild! 😂
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Gone into a shop to buy one book and come out with many more…
Haha, well, what can I say? I have little shelf control! I know many of yous out there can relate too!!!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Loved a book when I was younger and hated it when I was older
This actually hasn’t happened to me because I haven’t re-read a book that I loved when I was younger as an adult. But I do have a few like The House on Mango Street and Like Water for Chocolate that I’m hoping to re-read again at some point but I hope I’ll still love them!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a book I knew I’d hate
I was going to say that I’ve never done this before but that would be a lie because I just picked up this book that I’ve seen circulating on romance Twitter and... It’s not that I think I’ll hate it but… Maybe? And it’s not because of the author or her writing but more because of the taboo angst and potential for cheating but I’m also super freaking curious about it. So… Yeah. Maybe it’ll surprise me? 🤷🏻♀️
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Wrote a fanfiction about my favorite book
Nope, I’ve never written anything!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Dressed up as my favorite literary characters
I’ve also sadly never done this! But I’d definitely love to if I ever get the chance (I think, lol)! 😂
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Hated a book by an author I love
Y’know, I don’t think I have! I’m trying to think if I ever have but I don’t think it’s happened! Maybe I’m wrong but nothing’s popping up in my brain at the moment!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Skim read a book
Nup, yeah, sadly, I’ve done this plenty of times. I just did it with my most recent read, too! 🥺
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Pretended to read a book when I haven’t
I’ve never done this and I’d never risk doing it either because with my memory as bad as it is, I reckon I’d get caught out in the lie very quickly, hahaha 😂
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a book without a dust cover
Oh, I do this all the time! I don’t know how people read with the dust cover because it constantly moves around when I’m reading with it on and I always end up focusing more on whether I’m damaging the dust cover than on the book itself.
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Had a book boyfriend/girlfriend
Uh, no, I don’t think I’ve ever really seriously had a “book boyfriend/girlfriend”. I mean, I find people attractive when reading but once the book is over it’s over? I mean, I still love the characters but I don’t call them my book anything, lol! 🤷🏻♀️
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Picked up a book based on the cover alone
I can’t say I’ve never done that because I definitely have… Heh… 🐼
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read the end of a book before the beginning
NO! NEVER! NO! WHY? Pls… 😭
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Read a history or anthropology book for fun
Does this mean non-fiction or like a textbook? Because if it’s non-fiction I’ve definitely read a couple for fun! But if it’s a textbook then no, I haven’t.
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Participated in a readathon
I have! They’re so much fun but I’m also quite terrible at them most of the time so I limit my participation to one or two a year, depending on the readathon. The one I’ve participated in more than once is The Magical Readathon!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Bought multiple books in a series before starting it
Uhm, yeah, guilty! I think the last time I bought several books in a series it was for The Chronicles of St. Mary’s series by Jodi Taylor. Towards the end of last year, there was a sale and the first five ebooks were going for 99p each, and I don’t know what compelled me but I scooped them up just in case I ended up really loving the series. Still haven’t read them!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Filled up an entire bookshelf and had to have stacks of books balanced precariously throughout various rooms
This is my current state at the moment but it’s not so bad as filling various rooms… Just my current room… And there are just a few shortish stacks… Only a couple! 👀
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Hurt a book (e.g. accidentally spilled ice cream or coffee on it, dog-eared a book, etc.)
Can’t say that I’ve never done this although I haven’t spilt a lot on my books I used to often dog-ear pages when I was younger!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Loved the movie/tv series more than the book??
I have, I have! I don’t read/watch a lot of adaptations but my number one for this is The Hobbit. I’m sorry for those who love the book—I really tried but I was bored to tears and was so disappointed by the book! The movie is one of my all-time comfort movies though!
NEVER HAVE I EVER: Re-read a book I didn’t enjoy hoping that the “second time’s a charm”
I actually haven’t done this although I have *plans* to but they just never materialise 😂

I am forever reading companions out of order. A lot of that was related to availability at the library. I have hated a book by an author I love. I just couldn’t take this change with them. I think I have only reread the Little House books (need those middle states), and I gained a new kind of appreciation for these stories reading them as an adult.

Fun tag! Gosh, I have way too many complete series that I haven’t read. 🤦♀️ My thoughts were always that I’d read them once I got the whole set. BUT then they just end up sitting on my shelves. I’ve gotten better about not doing it recently. I think, anyway. Ha!

Yay, I’m glad you did this one! It’s long but I had a lot of fun with it and reading the answers! So, I totally agree about The Hobbit, actually! The movies were so much better than the book. haha. Also- are you doing April’s Magical Readathon?! I need to make my post soon!!

A lot of my answers would be similar to yours Dini. I am always reading series out of order, which is why I have so many to catch up on or finish. I will be honest and say that I have read the ending of a book before I finished it, but not before I started. However, I haven’t done that in a very long time. Great answers.
