#TopTenTuesday: 10 Backlist Books That I WILL Read in 2023!

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Bookish Goals for 2023.

But I’m going rogue today because I’ve already written a couple of posts with my bookish and blogging goals, so if you want to check those out, here are my “Let’s Talk Bookish: 2023 Reading & Blogging Goals” post & check out the tail end of my “2021 End of Year Survey Part II & III” post. I’m not straying too far from the prompt this week though because this year I’m participating in the Project Backlist Reading Challenge hosted by Kal @Reader Voracious and I’m hoping to tackle as many backlist books on my shelf as possible.

So, for today’s post, I’m highlighting 10 backlist books that have been languishing (specifically) on my (physical) shelf for ages and that I’m hoping to finally, (please) finally read in 2023. Let’s get to it!

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow
The Familiars by Stacey Halls
The Book Of M by Peng Shepherd
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wrecker
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

Have you read any of these books or are any of them on your TBR too?

  3. Good luck reading all these backlisted books. I spy books I have been meaning to read for a while too– Peng Shepherd has been an author I wanted to check out. The Book of M sounds really unique so it immediately got my attention. I am definitely curious to hear what you think to it!
I am currently reading The Dragon Republic and I’ve got to the point where I want to do nothing else but read it! Hopefully, you will experience the same sensation!
    Happy reading! 💜

  4. The Familiars, The Golem and the Jinni, The Starless Sea and A Monster Calls were all 5 star reads for me, so you have a great selection to get through. I really want to read The Book of M…I started the audiobook a few years ago but the narrator irritated me and I’ve just never got round to getting a copy to read.

  5. I’ve read The Ten Thousand Doors of January and The Dragon Republic. The first was alright but I just didn’t mesh with it.

  6. The Ten Thousand Doors was slow to start for me, but I really enjoyed it in the end. I have no doubt you’ll love Ove. I also want to read The Starless Sea this year.

  7. Yay for having the same idea this week, but surprisingly we don’t have any of the same books on our backlist lists. 😉 A Man Called Ove is on my tbr for this year, though. I’m really hoping to read it before I watch the adaptation. Good luck with these, Dini!

  8. I’m loving the capital WILL in the title lol. I’m going to be buddy reading The Golem and the Jinni next month because thats been on my TBR for years now, and I can’t wait to see what you think of the Ten Thousand Doors of January. Harrow is one of my favourite authors and that’s the book that started my obsession with her. Great post, Dini 😀

  9. A Man Called Ove is one of my favorite reads. The character growth is fantastic. The Swedish adaptation is a wonderful movie, and I’m curious about the new adaptation that stars Tom Hanks.
