So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week is a FREEBIE! I chose to look at Books From My Past Seasonal TBR Posts I STILL Haven’t Read (Submitted by Dedra @ A Book Wanderer)
As a mood reader, I don’t really do TBRs but a couple of years ago I started doing possibility piles, which I think gives me a little more freedom and a little less pressure when it comes to books I want to read. Surprisingly (or maybe not) it’s actually been a while since I last did a TTT specific possibility pile—the earliest one I found was for Spring 2022 and the ones before that were for Winter 2021 and Fall 2021. I apparently smashed through my spring list, which is something I don’t normally do, and I read all but one of the books on my list so I took a look at older lists to round off this week’s list! Here’s what I found…

A Botanist’s Guide to Parties and Poison
Open Water
She Who Became the Sun
The Heart Principle
Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry

Act Your Age, Eve Brown
Ace of Spades
Concrete Rose
Seven Days in June
A Pho Love Story

Do you love TBR lists or are you more of a mood reader and go the way of the ‘possibility pile’ too? Do you still have many books from previous lists that you haven’t read yet or… is it just me? 😂

I haven’t read She Who Became the Sun yet either!

I haven’t read any of these, so I don’t have a book to recommend. It will be interesting to see what you choose from this list.

I read The Heart Principle and enjoyed it. I liked the whole series, Dini. I have Concrete Rose on my TBR as well, and will get to it, eventually…….

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it, Carla! I’ve really been looking forward to Quan’s story since the second book in the series but I was a little hesitant to pick the book up immediately cos of the mixed reviews I read. Hehe, we’ll both get to Concrete Rose eventually… I suppose 😉 I hope you enjoy it whenever you do pick it up!

I haven’t lately been setting a tbr list besides to see when arcs are due and go through that while adding others in. 😂

Haha, yeah, the blog tour reads are basically the only TBRs that I can ever successfully follow 😂 Mood reading for the win!

Haha ain’t that the truth! 😂🙌

Yep, I could have added The Heart Principle, too. At this point I’m on the fence about it. All the reviews I’ve read have me thinking it’s not the story I’ve been hoping for.

I’m so sad because it’s QUAN’s story and I’ve been looking forward to Quan’s story for what feels like FOREVER at this point. But I’m also a little leery after hearing all the mixed reviews and I feel like I defo need to be in the right headspace for it in order to properly enjoy it? I’ll not be going in with the same expectation as before, that’s for sure!

I loved Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry! I read it around the same time as Ace of Spades and they weirdly had very similar content while being the complete opposite in tone. I don’t know what was going on in spring because I managed to read all my spring TBR too, and that’s usually unheard of!

What was in the air this spring?! Whatever it was, I defo need more of it please! 😍 I’m so looking forward to reading both the books you mentioned. I hope you that you enjoyed them?

I really need to get to the Brown Sisters series! I’ve heard such good things!!

Yes! It’s so good! I haven’t read the last book but Dani Brown (the second one) is my abso fave! I hope you love the books if you pick them up 😍

I’ll read pretty much anything by Talia Hibbert and Angie Thomas, both of those were great. She Who Became The Sun was a fascinating historical read. For some reason I have trouble with Helen Hoang’s books, I know most people love them but they don’t work for me.

Yep, I feel the same! I’m a huge Hibbert fan and although I’ve only read one book by Angie Thomas I have a feeling I’ll enjoy everything she writes especially with how much I loved THUG! Ah, I’m sorry to hear Hoang’s books don’t work for you but I guess all the books can’t work for everyone, right? At least you gave them a try 🙂

I know, I remember you saying that and the others who’ve mentioned the same thing have me hesitating big time! So sad cos I love Quan and was so excited for his story 🥺

Ngl, I’m kinda intimidated by all the hype around it. I’m worried I won’t feel the same way about it as everyone else? But I guess I’ll only figure that out once I actually pick it up at some point 😂

Botanist’s Guide looks fabulous. Such an amazing cover.
I like the idea of “possibility piles”. 🙂

I only read three of these – all good though. I keep thinking about reading Hoang’s book, and then I change my mind. I heard it is super emotional and heavy.

I heard the same thing about Hoang’s book and it’s defo what keeps me hesitating to pick it up. Which honestly makes me sad cos I’ve been looking forward to Quan’s story for so long! But I defo have to be in the right headspace for it whenever I pick it up! I hope you enjoy it whenever (if ever) you pick it up, Sam!

We need to get to Seven Days soon!! I am reading when you are, haha. I also just bought A Pho Love Story! I have Concrete Rose and haven’t read it yet… so maybe some potential BR’s there. 🙂

I’m so glad we’re FINALLY reading Seven Days now 😂 I’d love to read Pho and Rose with you but I have physical copies of both and they’re back home in Jakarta. So… If you’re up for waiting a little bit, maybe we can read it post September? I’m sure we’ll discuss it at some point! 💜

I know!! IT was SO good!! Yes, we totally can do that. I have no plans of picking them up right now because my August is slam full. We can definitely do September or after. 🙂

I haven’t read any of the books on your list, but I have heard great things about Open Water. And as an added incentive, it’s a short book. Most of the books I put on my TBR are ARCs with a few owned books sprinkled in, and it’s more about keeping track of the ARCs I have to read than anything.

Yeah, that’s defo one of the reasons why I gravitated toward Open Water! I mean, it sounds incredible and I’ve heard lots of great things but it’s defo a bonus that it’s short (cos I’m loving shorties right now)! 😂 I think the only TBRs that I actually complete are the ones that have a majority of ARCs on them so I defo get how it keeps you on track with them! Happy reading 🙂

I have read She Who Became the Sun and loved it: The girl who was given “nothingness” as her fate, will not be denied. It was great.

Let’s be honest, my TBRs are really just possibility piles. 😂😂 I usually only get to half of what I plan. But I do love to “plan”. I haven’t read any of these either, but several are on my tbr. I’m nervous about The Heart Principle since I’ve seen so many mixed feelings on that one. But I already own it, so I will read it someday. 😉 Hopefully we both get to some of these soonish!

Haha, possibility piles for the win! 😂 I feel like you always do pretty well with your lists though (or at least it seems like it whenever I read your recaps and all)! I’m also pretty nervous about THP cos of the mixed reviews and it makes me so sad cos I’ve been so excited for Quan’s story! I hope we both enjoy it whenever we pick it up (one day 😉)!

nshjsdhsgh ALL THE COVERS LOOK STUNNING!! also omg i hope you enjoy all of these whenever you end up reading them!! i’ve only read ace of spades from your list AND THAT ONE KIND OF VERY MUCH DID NOT LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?? the middle + beginning was actually pretty perfect BUT THEN THE ENDING JUST SEEMED HUGELY ANTICLIMACTIC and all the character development went down the drain 😫 HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER LUCK WITH IT THOUGH!!

Thanks, Anoushka! Oh no, I’m sad to hear that it didn’t live up to the hype for you 🥺 You’re the second person whose commented about the ending being so bleh. That’s SO disappointing! I hate when endings fall flat. I’ll definitely go in with lower expectations now so thanks for the heads up 😂
