#WWWWednesday: 25 May 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish two books. It’s been a slow reading week but I’ve enjoyed my reads this week! One took a little while to grow on me but I ended up really enjoying it and now I can’t wait to continue with the series!

The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy #1) by S.A. Chakraborty ★★★½
As my rating shows, I have mixed feelings about this. I didn’t particularly like the characters and I thought there wasn’t much of a plot? However, the last 15% of this book revived my excitement for the story and really upped my rating! Now I can’t wait to continue on to the next book ASAP!

(KU) Falling for the Enemy (Malibu Millionaires #2) by Katie Golding ★★★★☆
I enjoyed the first book in this series even with all the insta-love elements but I loved this one. The chemistry, the rivals to lovers situation-ship and ugh, how I swooned over how hard Jasper was a simp for Blake. Also, this was delightfully steamy! 🥵

I’m currently reading Malice with Leslie (@70% now)! This is my first John Gwynne book and it’s a heckuva chunkster so I’m glad that I’m buddy reading this otherwise I might have ended up being too intimidated to pick it up for a long time! It was a bit slow at first and there are many POVs (more than I expected) but I’m really enjoying it now!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. I loved Gwynne’s Bloodsworn saga, so I should probably pick up his first books, too! He’s known for his chunksters, I think. I hope you’re enjoying it as you keep going!

  2. I’m so bummed that you struggled so much with City of Brass. I did think they got better and better and I hope that’s the case for you! Yay, for Malice… it’s been so good!!

    • Okay but now that I’ve spent more time thinking about the City of Brass, I think that I enjoyed it more than I realised cos I was always eager to keep reading. But the characters and lack of plot(?) were definitely frustrating in the moment of reading! LOL. I can’t wait to continue the series though—can you believe that I ended up sympathising with Ali the most in the end!? 😂

      • Hahaha… yeah, it’s so funny how we ALL read books so differently! I think you will like the next book better! I can’t wait for you to read it. 🙂
