#WWWWednesday: 11 May 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish eight books. I’m back on that romance kick and I’m loving it! My fave was Everything for You by Chloe Liese though—a sweet, emotional, heartwarming MM romance ft. some soccer. 💜

(ARC) Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley ★★★★½
This had a bit of a slow start but once I got into it I flew through in one sitting! The banter was fantastic and the chemistry was f-i-r-e! Jada and Donovan were well-developed characters and had such a fun/playful connection. The cupcakes also had me salivating! 🧁

A Psalm for the Wild-Built (Monk & Robot #1) by Becky Chambers ★★★★★
I did it—I finally read my first Becky Chambers book and wow, I loved it so much?! Dex and Mosscap so quickly won my heart. Their friendship was incredibly heartwarming and sweet and they had me laughing and even tearing up by the end. Fantastic. I want more!

(ARC) Reckless (Adventures in Love #3) by Aurora Rose Reynolds ★★½
This was my first book by ARR and it was a little “meh”. Wasn’t feeling much of anything from the story and even though it’s just been a few days since I read it, I can’t remember what happened anymore!

Galatea by Madeline Miller ★★★★☆
A super small/short book that I bought simply cos Miller wrote it and surprisingly, it did not disappoint! Galatea was such a fantastic character and I love how Miller brought her to life.

(ARC) Everything for You (Bergman Brothers #5) by Chloe Liese ★★★★★
I had no doubt I was gonna love this. I’m a sucker for the Bergmans and I loved Oliver and Gavin’s story. Liese writes her characters with so much heart and her stories always leave me feeling warm and hopeful 💜 Check out my review!

(KU) Want Me (Extracurricular Activities) by Neve Wilder ★★★½
Woo, this one was just filthy smutty goodness. 😮‍💨 I loved the combination of a bi-curious jock and the openly bisexual semi-mysterious housemate. Nate and Eric were great together and not only did they bring the steaminess and a bit of kink they also had some really sweet heartwarming moments too!

(ARC) Taproot by Keezy Young ★★★½
This was a cute graphic novel about a gardener and a ghost. Although certain things happen quickly and I was confused at times, I thought this was a fun and unique story! I loved the sweet queer romance and the art captured the floral/garden/forest vibes so well! 😍

(KU) The Bribe (Calamity Montana #1) by Willa Nash ★★★☆☆
This was my first Willa Nash book and it was fun but didn’t “wow” me. It was an enjoyable low-angst, low(ish)-drama romance featuring a Grammy award-winning country musician and a slightly grumpy, slightly alpha small-town sheriff. I liked it enough to check out the next book in the series!

I’ve been reading The Ivory Key for a few days now and it’s a little slow. I’m finding it hard to really care about these siblings. The hunt is intriguing and the sibling drama is relatable(ish) but I’m a bit… bored? I’m just over 50% now and I could probably finish it tonight but the problem is I don’t really feel like picking it back up again? 🙈

I think I’m still in a romance mood but also maybe not? Let’s see!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. Oh, wow! Fake It Till You Bake It made a comeback after being slow to start. That’s great.
ARR’s Until series is my favorite of hers, but you have to be down with instant love. I liked the one you read, but I had also read the other 2 books, so it was fun for me.
Totally agree with everything on Everything For You. I need more Bergman books now!
I get what you’re saying about Willa Nash’s book. I like her other series better than this one.
I’m excited for you to read Starry-Eyed Love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Have a great reading week!

    • Yes! I’m so glad FITYBI picked up for me—it was worth sticking around for. I’m such a sucker for playful banter and they ended up having it in spades and I was giggling like a fool 😍 I didn’t think ARR’s writing was bad but maybe this just wasn’t the book for me. I’ll keep the Until series in mind if I feel like reading something else by her again. Which Willa Nash series would you rec? It wasn’t bad just not anything very memorable for me… But I’d be keen to check out something else by her. I do have a different Devney Perry series on my TBR already though! Hope you’re having a great reading week too, Deanna!

  2. That sucks that you’re not really enjoying The Ivory Key. I thought it was okay. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. The hunt took way too long to actually get started, but I thought the world and the portrayal of magic as a natural resource was interesting. I hope you like your next read better!

    • Hehe, it was definitely a fantastic reading week! Been a while since I’ve had one so good as this past week has been. 😍 Fake It started out a bit rough for me but I’m glad I stuck it out cos they had such great playful chemistry. I hope you enjoy it too, Sam! Happy reading!
