It’s hard to believe that we’re already over a quarter of the way through 2022—the year feels like it has just begun and I can’t even process how quickly time goes! 😂 But I digress… I’ve seen a couple of bloggers do this tag and I’m a little late as it’s already mid-April (somehow?!) but it looked like fun so I thought I’d do it anyway!

How many books have you read so far?
According to Goodreads, I’ve read 84/150 books this year putting me 42 books ahead of schedule! 🥳 I’ve never had such a fab start to the reading year before and I’m hoping I can keep up this momentum for the rest of 2022!
Have you already found a book you think might be a 2022 favourite?
If not, what was your favourite book you read that wasn’t quite five stars?
I have a surprising number of 5-star reads already this year but I can definitely already pick out two that will for sure be in my top five(!): Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee and Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree!

Any 1-star books / least favourite book of the year?
I have one 1-star book this year: Now and Then by Brenda Rothert. I apparently purchased this NA Romance back in 2016 although I have no recollection of doing so and I found it on my Kindle when I was cataloguing my ebooks at the start of this year. I read it for a reading challenge prompt and it’s safe to say that it really didn’t work for me!
Most read genre so far?
It’ll surprise absolutely no one that my most read genre so far is contemporary romance. This has been the case since mid-2021 and these romances have really kept my reading momentum going. Give me all the romances, please! 😍
A book that surprised you?
This series was making rounds on romance booktwt and after seeing these covers I had zero expectations going into it. So I was more than a little surprised by how much I loved The Mindf*ck Series by S.T. Abby! Like holy granola, these covers are literally the worst (sorry not sorry) BUT the story? So forking good!
A book that’s come out in 2022 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?
Oh, there are so many to choose from! Here are five (mostly romance) titles I’m really keen to read: Electric Idol by Katee Robert, Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake, I’m So Not Over You by Kosoko Jackson, Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood and Gallant by V.E. Schwab!
One goal you made that you’re succeeding at
One of my goals this year is to cut down on my backlist and according to my tracker, almost 60% of the books I’ve read this year are from my backlist so… WOO! 🥳 I’m really happy that I’m reading more of the books that I’ve already owned pre-2021/22. Let’s hope I can keep that up! 🤣
One goal you made that you need to focus on
Every year I make the goal to read more non-fiction… This year my goal is to read at least four non-fiction books and so far I’ve read none. Ha! I know it’s still early days but I hope I can at least get one read before mid-year? 🙃

Haha, thanks, Sam! I don’t think I’ve ever been this ahead of schedule before but I have all the novellas and romances to thank for that. 🤣

That’s awesome progress too 😃 To be fair I’ve read a lot of novellas at the start of this year and I’m devouring romances at an indecent rate but they’re so easy to read and they bring me so much joy, so YAY! 🤣 I hope you continue to have an awesome year of reading!

42 books ahead of schedule?! You’re amazing! Oh, I’m too scared of Jade Legacy. I will probably pick it up this summer, but I am frightened! Great job with your backlist book goal. I always tell myself I need to stick to older stuff, but why are new releases always so shiny? Thank you so much for the shout out. I’ve really enjoyed your blog as well and chatting with you ❤

With how attached I was to the GBS characters, it’s safe to say that Jade Legacy absolutely wrecked me. I couldn’t fathom that it was really over by the time I reached the end. I love that series so freaking much! 🥲 This is to say that I totally understand your fear but you HAVE to read it—it’s AMAZEBALLS! I’m kinda shook that I’ve tackled so many from the backlog too and I really hope I can keep it up cos like you said, the shine of the new releases is so hard to resist! 😂 I hope you have an amazing year of reading ahead, Alicia!

jade legacy was such an amazing ending to the greenbone saga. i really hope we’ll get more books in that universe because i’m still thinking about these books and it’s been a while since i finished the series 😭

To be fair my January was full of novellas and I’ve been reading a lot more romances in the past year which are like candy to me—I can get through them so quickly! 🤣 Ugh, the Green Bone Saga will forever be AMAZING—it’s definitely one of my all-time favourites and probably my favourite fantasy series ever. Truly, stunning! I want to re-read these books but I know they’ll just send me into a spiral of wrecked emotions again. I almost went into a slump after finishing Jade Legacy because I was so heartbroken and in disbelief that it was over 🥲 Agh, such a great series! I hope you have an amazing year too, Andi!

Sooo many romance recs! I guess it depends what you enjoy or what you’re in the mood for? Some authors that I love are Chloe Liese, Talia Hibbert, Helen Hoang, Kate Canterbary, Meghan Quinn (her Port Snow series is my fave but her ongoing Vancouver Agitator series is a close second), Teagan Hunter, Olivia Dade, Anita Kelly… So many 😂 If you wanna read more romances I’d also rec checking out these blogs: Nick @ Infinite Limits of Love and Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse for lots of romances!

Jade legacy is such a great book and Im glad to know you rated it 5 stars! It’s also great to see Legends and Lattes up there with it since I hope to read it soon! All the best with reading more non-fiction, I’ve bene trying to read more non-fiction too and usually memoirs work best for me so maybe you can try that out as well?

Awwww, thank you for the shout out, Dini! I really need to read Jade War and Jade Legacy. I absolutely ADORED Jade City when I read it late last year, so I need to get back on that train. I also loved reading your answers on this tag. It’s such a fun tag to read, but I’ve read so little, my answers would be too repetitive to actually do it. 😅
