#WWWWednesday: 13 April 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Wow, since last week I’ve managed to read one book. I know I’ve spent more time with friends and gaming since I came to Bali, but I also didn’t realise I was barely reading! 🙈 Maybe I also didn’t realise it because I was reading something I was just doing it uncharacteristically (for me) slowly!

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia ★★★★½

I buddy read GoJaS with Leslie and I’m glad that I can finally knock it off my TBR. It was a bit of a rocky start (for both of us) but we ended up really enjoying it! The world-building was lush, the mythology was fantastic, the characters were compelling, and THE ROMANCE. OML talk about angsty but absolutely EPIC—it truly had me in a chokehold! It was swoontastic, heartbreaking and so forking good. 😮‍💨 I’ll be posting a gushing semi-coherent review soonish, lol!

Post divider: What're you currently reading?

I’m currently 80% through my ARC of An Arrow to the Moon by Emily X.R. Pan. It’s beautifully written and I love the mythology and retelling elements but it’s not hitting as hard as I expected. My review and journal spread will be up tomorrow! 😊

I also started Fake it Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley but it had a bit of a slow start so I only got through 26% before I had my buddy read and ARCs to finish. I’ll pick it up again once I finish my next ARC in the coming week.

Post divider: what will you read next?

Almost all of these are ARCs so they’re gonna get read at some point in the next week(ish)!

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  1. I had heard that Fake It book was slow start. That’s why I didn’t download it after reading a couple of reviews. I’m still going to wait and see what you say, though.
You’re going to love Liese’s book. It was so good!

    • I actually haven’t heard anything about the Fake It book but that’s good to know. I still haven’t gone back to it yet cos I’m prioritising a different read and my brain has no capacity for multiple books right now but I’m hoping that it picks up more when I pick it up again! And aah, I have no doubt I’m gonna love Liese’s book. I love this series so much 😍

  2. Not reading because you’re busy living your life and seeing friends sounds pretty good to me. 🙂 I’m on the fence about Everything for You. I said I was moving on from Liese (after four books I just don’t think she’s for me) but I am curious about Oliver’s story.

    • Haha, I do agree it’s a great reason to not be reading! I remember you not being the biggest fan of Liese’s series but maybe Oliver’s story will be the one for you? 😂 I’m super excited for it!

  3. Hey!! It was one book but a heck of a good one!! haha. I think having a fun time is a good reason to not be reading. I see two upcoming buddy reads. I can’t wait! I hope you have the loveliest week, my friend. ❤

  4. Being social sometimes is a good thing, and at least the book you finished was a hit. I am not surprised to hear Pan’s book is beautifully written. I remember how lovely the prose was in The Astonishing Color of After.

    • Being social is definitely a good thing especially cos it happens so rarely with me (social bug, I am not lol)! Yes, the prose in Pan’s debut was stunning and it was much the same here but this story just didn’t hit as hard for me.

    • I’m excited for MMR too! I’m hoping it’ll be a soothing balm to the angst that is WFTS 😂 Ooh, I haven’t heard of this book you’re reading but I’m always keen for more H&P retellings. Did you enjoy it?!

  5. I have Gods of Jade and Shadow on my shelf so I am very happy to hear you ended up loving it! And even more excited to hear there is a good romance. It truly can improve any read! Hope you love all your next reads… the covers look stunning and I really loved We Free The Stars!! 😍😍

    • Yes! I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did because it does start off fairly slowly. The romance was so swoontastic though *happy heart sigh* 💜 I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up! Currently reading WFTS and I’m already loving it even though it’s serving peak angst energy and I have a feeling it’s gonna wreck my emo little heart?! Haha
