Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be wrapping up my Sunday in bed reading The Witch, The Sword and the Cursed Knights by Alexandria Rogers. I didn’t make as much progress on this as I’d hoped and it took me a little while to get into it but I’m really enjoying the magical school vibes and an exciting twist on Arthurian legend!

What are you currently reading?

I feel like this week was so busy but also, not that much happened? Lol. Aside from a busy work schedule, I ended up doing a lot of baking and painting this week! I did no baking in Bali and I missed it a lot. Since we had lots of extra fruits I ended up making two apple pies and chocolate+walnut+banana bread! Sadly, I didn’t get any foodie shots cos mum has a tendency to cut and box up everything the minute it’s cooled? All I can give you is this photo of a slice of pie with ice cream and a partial of the loaf next to powder doughnuts! 😂

I also helped my sister try out their new paint-by-numbers Valentine set and it’d been a while since I painted anything so that was fun. I managed to finish almost three audiobooks while painting and it was amazing 😍

I’ve been in a restless reading mood since the start of the month but this week saw me reading a lot of novellas and audiobooks that really helped pull me into a good reading headspace! I’ve still kept pretty updated with my reviews, I just need to find space to post them on my blog! 😂 Do you prioritise non-ARC reviews on your blog or do you prefer posting weekly memes?

ICYMI, here’s what went up on my blog this week:

Book Review: How To Walk Away by Katherine Center
First Lines Friday: 04 February 2022
Blog Tour Spotlight: The Counterclockwise Heart by Brian Farrey
Pondathon Update ft. A Blossoming Garden & Gen’s Side Quest
#WWWWednesday: 02 February 2022
#TopTenTuesday: Books with Character Names in the Title
January 2022 Monthly Wrap Up

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead! Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends

  1. I love banana bread! It is such an easy thing to make and so delicious. I use a recipe from a childhood neighbor who passed away a couple of years ago. It’s always very sentimental. Glad you had a good week!

  2. Yum! Baked goods look delish. I miss my daughter baking for me. –sigh– As far as non-review books, I don’t even write full reviews for all of them. If I liked it a lot and want to feature it I would. Otherwise, I look at it as a book I can just enjoy with no follow up work. I love the memes I do, so I make sure I do them, but I also have a regular posting schedule.

    • Hmm, okay, I’ve seen a lot of the same comments on here regarding the books. I’ve been really off with posting reviews that aren’t review copies/tours in the past year, so I’m trying to figure out what I want to post. I do like my weekly memes too so I think I’m gonna stick with the schedule I’ve got now. Thanks, Sam! Hope you’re having a great week 😃

  3. Yummmm!!!!! I’m so terrible at baking bc I hate following recipes! It’s why I prefer cooking! My husband is a great baker though. Perfect! Haha. Those look so good though!! I’m doing a thing where I’m not reviewing every book I read! A lot of them… I don’t have much to say, so why suffer trying to write a review?! There’s only a small handful but I’m okay with that!! If I can, I bunch up a few into a mini-review post.

    • Haha, I’m the opposite. I’m pretty decent at baking (if I do say so myself LOL) but I’m just avg with cooking. 😂 OK, I’m seeing a lot of the same responses regarding the book reviews. In the past year I’ve been mostly posting tour and review copy reviews but have been a slacker on other books. I think maybe I’ll stick with my meme schedule and then post non-review/tour copies when I have ‘free’ days. I should do more mini-reviews! LOL

      • I think you’re a great baker!! Just seeing pics of them! I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who likes to do both?! Yeah, I try to do some non- tour & arc reviews here and there but def. Not a priority. I think you do way more arcs and tours than I do too. Mini-reviews are great!!! Lol

    • I totally get what you mean when it comes to audiobooks. A lot of the time I have trouble focusing, so I’m pretty surprised it worked for me while I was painting. It also definitely depends on the narrator for me though—as long as they’re engaging I find that I tend to have no problem even without following along with the book!

  4. Mmmm, your baking looks delicious. Apple pie is my favorite! Honestly, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t really review non-ARC books on my blog unless it’s one that I really have a lot to say about. I just post a few remarks on Goodreads and maybe do an occasional wrap up of my non-ARC reads. I read a lot and it just got too overwhelming to try to write full reviews for them all.

    • Thank you! Apple Pie is definitely one of my regular bakes and I love it so much, especially a la mode! 😍 I’m seeing a lot of comments say the same thing about non-ARC books and I never really considered it. I think perhaps I might end up doing the same, with a few regular reads dotted around if I have free days. I’m surprised I’ve been so diligent with writing reviews when I usually struggle and I think this is where my question comes from 😂

    • Banana bread is awesome! Yes, the book was pretty unique—I don’t read a lot of Arthurian lore retellings (or like, ever if I think about it lol) so that was fun. It wasn’t my favourite as it got a bit “hectic” with too much going on at once but it was a decent start to a new MG series!
