#WWWWednesday: 11 August 2021

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish four books and all but one were ARCs—yay!

Tempt Thy Neighbor (Roommate Romps #4) by Teagan Hunter ★★★★☆
This was another fun, fast and super-steamy second-chance/enemies-to-lovers romance by Teagan Hunter! It was a little hard to buy into the romance at the very beginning with how vehemently Holland hated on Sutton and with how he came across as pretty douchey, but they did grow on me in the end. Hunter really built up the sexual tension in this book and it was explosive! RTC.

(ARC) Revenge of the Sluts by Natalie Walton ★★★★½
Revenge of the Sluts was an interesting YA contemporary that had a bit of a mystery to it. It’s not a fast-paced book but it was engaging enough and the writing simple enough for me to quickly work through the pages. While I didn’t think any of the characters stood out, and neither did I like the representation of the MC, I think it’s a book that can generate discussions about privacy, cyberbullying, revenge porn, slut-shaming, toxic masculinity and society’s double standards, especially amongst the targeted young readers! Check out my full review.

(ARC) The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada ★☆☆☆☆
You might’ve seen me mention how much I didn’t like this book in any one of my most recent posts. The writing was weak, the characters were some of the worst in romance I’ve read (especially the “hero”) and all-in-all it was very far from the perfect date or perfect read, and I was pretty disappointed! RTC.

(ARC) With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4) by Chloe Liese ★★★★½
If you’ve seen any of my past three posts you’ll know just how much I loved this one. Axel and Rooney had a beautifully swoontastic romance and I also loved how the story focused on them coming to terms with how they both love, and realising that everyone deserves to be loved, no matter how differently it is you love. RTC.

I’m currently reading a very overdue ARC for Shadow Frost (Shadow Frost #1) by Coco Ma. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t pick this up sooner because it was very hyped around the time it came out… That said, I’m about 78% of the way through now and it’s taken me two days to get this far (albeit I did only read it at night before bed and I had work during the day). I will admit that it’s a bit of a slog and I was tempted to DNF it earlier but… I’m so close to the end so I’m gonna push through! Right now it’s sitting at around a 2-star rating for me.

I’m still focusing on getting my ARCs read this months and I have two that need to get read for blog tours next week: Fireborn and The Meeting Point! I’m hoping to get these done by the weekend so I can also start on She Who Became the Sun (finally)! Later this month I’ll be buddy reading Under the Whispering Door with Leslie and Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous with Julie and I’m SO excited for both! 😍

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading! 😍

    • Haha, I did see your review on Goodreads just now (you gave it a 1-star)! I’m honestly kind of conflicted cos I had a lot of issues with it but I was intrigued by the end—not sure if I was intrigued enough to continue though! 😂 I definitely feel like it’s a book teenage me would’ve devoured easily, no questions. Me now, not so much 🙈

  1. I NEED to read that Teagan Hunter series! Under the Whispering Door! YAY! I’ll be picking it up soon. 🙂
Hope you enjoy She Who Became the Sun, Dini. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on it, I’m super excited to read it too but I don’t think I’ll get to it in September.
