Two months down and we can already start counting down the months left in 2021 on two hands! 🤯
Also, does anyone else love the fact that March starts on a Monday? Is it just me that finds that oddly satisfying? 😂

I know February is the shortest month of the year but wow, it really passed by in a blink! Other than work, reading and blogging I’m not even quite sure what I can tell you about what I got up to this month? Like January, half the time I didn’t even know what day it actually was! The only days I was certain of were Wednesdays because as a part-timer that’s my Friday. My parents left to Bali to sort out our house there earlier this month, so the responsibilities here have fallen to me, but other than doing all this adulting stuff it’s been a pretty quiet month!
I’ve been spending a fair chunk of time especially in the last week playing Animal Crossing and honestly, life on my in-game island is probably more exciting than IRL. 🤣 I’ve been doing a lot of terraforming and redecorating and it’s all coming together quite nicely and I was more than happy to kiss the snow good-bye, too! I’m excited to see what the updates this month bring. I saw the Mario x ACNH update has already appeared and the items are so cool! 😍 I don’t know how I’m going to incorporate them on my island but I want to try as much as I can.

Despite the short month, I think I managed to get in quite a few reads in February and I ended up reading 20 books. All save one of my reads were 3-stars and up but I did have one DNF this month and that’s also my first for the year! February was unsurprisingly heavy on romance and I ended up reading a lot of NA sports romances on a whim 🤣 I haven’t read many sports romances and although the jock vulgarity at the beginning of each book is always slightly off-putting, I think I definitely want to try more sports romances. They’re very white though, aren’t they? 🤔 I also had my first re-read(s) of the year this month and deciding to re-read with the audiobooks for The Illuminae Files and Aurora Rising was a really good decision! These audios are fantastic and I would highly recommend if you want a fun and full-cast listening/reading experience!
All my re-reads were 5-stars but my only 5-star first-time-read this month was Take A Hint, Dani Brown but I also have to mention The Death of Vivek Oji, which ended up being 4.5-stars for me but I’m in no doubt that this book will stick with me for quite a while! 🥲

Book covers are linked to Goodreads and the title text is linked to my reviews, if available!

Friends, I did a really crap job of blog hopping this month and I’m so sorry. 🙈 I know I’ve been quite MIA and I’ve tended to schedule my posts and then hop off the computer. After staring at a screen all day for work I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to spend more non-work hours staring at the screen but I do miss engaging! If you have any posts for me to check out please let a comment below and I’ll be sure to add you to my March wrap up!
- CW @ The Quiet Pond posted an interview with J.Elle, the author of Wings of Ebony (one of my highly anticipated 2021 releases) and she talks her debut, identity, and writing to give space and empower.
- Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricanes Books talks about blogging insecurities and tips for how she overcame them. A very relatable post!
- Julie @ One Book More shared her favourite quotes from The Song of Achilles and it made me want to re-read the book immediately. If you’re sleeping on this one… You need to remedy that ASAP! 🥲
- Erin @ Rin’s Reads asked and answered if there’s such a thing as ‘good’ tropes as part of the Let’s Talk Bookish discussion!
- It’s a topic that comes up regularly in the book community and Sammie @ The Bookwyrm’s Den shared her thoughts about policing the ‘ownvoices’ tag!
- Shealea@ Shutup, Shealea shared some free, legal alternatives to pirated books because reading is a privileged hobby but it really shouldn’t be.
- Jess @ Jessticulates talks in defence of the friends-to-lovers. It’s one of my favourite tropes 😍
- In another very relatable post, Mehek @ Critiques of a Fangirl talks about how we find ourselves in creative ruts and how she deals with them!
- What do you think makes a good villain origin story? Briana @ Pages Unbound Reviews shares her thoughts in a fun discussion post!
- Linked to one of the more recent hot topics about Locus reviews and that reviewer, I read this amazing blog post by Foz Meadows @ Shattresnipe: Malcontent & Rainbows. It gives more context to the Locus reviews situation and although it’s a very long post, it’s really informative and the amount of research that went into this must’ve been insane! Must appreciate 👏🏽

And that’s a wrap on February, folks! I know a lot of people had rough starts in January but I hope that February was better overall! Hoping March will be full of all the amazing things for all of us! Stay safe & happy , friends! ❤️

20 books! That’s amazing Dini. They look like they were all good reads too. I also DNF my first book of the year last month, and yes… it’s very satisfying that the month starts on Monday 😊

Thanks so much for linking to my post, Dini! It looks like you had an amazing reading month; I’m so pleased you loved Take a Hint, Dani Brown. 😀 I’ve heard so many good things about The Death of Vivek Oji! I reserved the ebook from my library last night because I haven’t seen a single negative review of it yet.

I’d definitely be curious to know what you think of Vivek Oji. That was my first book by that author and I’ve heard that their debut (Freshwater) and their YA (Pet) are also really good so I’m looking forward to checking more by them! Hope you enjoy it and happy reading 😃

You read a lot of great books this month! I had a lot of rereads, too, since I was rereading my way through ACOTAR. I really need to read Take a Hint and Him. Looking forward to both of those!

I was thinking of re-reading the ACOTAR series but I don’t know if that’ll alter my opinion of it now 😂 So I decided against it. I think I’m gonna pick up ACOSF at some point. The FOMO is real but I’m kinda worried I won’t remember anything, too! Haha! Also, YES! Take A Hint and HIM! I think you’ll really enjoy both 😍

Fortunately I still thoroughly enjoyed ACOTAR. It had just been so long for me that I didn’t think I’d remember enough. Hope you enjoy ACOSF when you get to it!

Both of these sentences made me laugh and nod in agreement. xD

WOW, you kicked butt last month!! That’s so awesome!! Soo… I keep forgetting to take a screenshot of my island! I haven’t been on in a few days but tomorrow, I hope!! OMG.. your island puts mine to SHAME! I think it’s because I don’t spend as much time on it and I don’t know how to do half the stuff. I’m not really a gamer by nature and this is my first game. My husband got it for my birthday last year because he thought I would enjoy it and he’s been dying to get me gaming. I do LOVE it. I mean.. I “beat” the actual game pretty fast. I just need to figure out all the landscaping stuff. haha. Anyways, I hope you have an amazing March!!! <3<3

Omg, please, I want to see your island! 😍 I keep forgetting if I sent you my friend code or not but I’m gonna message you on Twitter after this. I’ve spent a good 500+ hours on my island by now so… Hahaha 🙃 I’m so glad you’re playing though and the terraforming stuff definitely takes a while to figure out. My first island was a terraforming hot mess but I got into it after watching YT channels for inspo 😃 Hope you have an amazing March, too! ❤️

Oooh gosh! I didn’t even think about youtube!! Nope, I don’t have your friend code. I am going to put an alarm in my phone to play tomorrow and send you my friend code. HAHA! I don’t know if I would have the time to do it now with Oliver. He is constantly trying to take the controller away. LOL! I can’t wait to see yours. I might get some inspo!!! ❤
