Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

This Sunday has seen me spend most of the day reading The Existence of Amy. I was very lucky to have the author send me a copy of the book earlier this year and I’m embarrassed to admit that I only got around to it now. I had a feeling I’d have to prepare myself to read this and I was not wrong–this was pretty emotional and I ended up tearing up a time or two (oh, who am I kidding? As an emotional reader this made the waterworks flow!). I sat down with it at 1pm and finished around 8:30pm because I didn’t want to put it down! This was a raw and intimate portrayal of what it’s like to live with mental illness and while it was an emotional read for me, I wouldn’t exactly say it was super heavy. It’s very accessible and eye-opening, plus Amy was very realistic and relatable. Would definitely recommend it! My review will come soon 😊

Amy has a normal life. That is, if you were to go by a definition of ‘no immediate obvious indicators of peculiarity’, and you didn’t know her very well. She has good friends, a good job, a nice enough home. This normality, however, is precariously plastered on top of a different life. A life that is Amy’s real life. The only one her brain will let her lead.

What are you currently reading?

Christmas has come and gone… how?! Lol. As I may have already said, my family and I don’t celebrate Christmas so it was just another “normal” day except that, of course, I didn’t have to work–huzzah! It was wonderful and actually, this whole long weekend has been awesome. I do have to work for another three days next week until NYE and then I’m off until mid-January when I start working part-time. I’m so looking forward to getting a longer than one long-weekend break!

I really hope everyone has managed to find some joy this holiday season, whether you are able to be with family or not, and I also hope you’ve all been staying safe and healthy! 🥰

I had a bit of a break from Animal Crossing this weekend and haven’t been playing it as much but I did show up for Toy Day to play merrymaker and give my villagers their gifts from Santa! I’ve seen a lot of people complain about how simple the event was (especially compared to Turkey Day) but I still enjoyed it 😊 I’m gonna be sad when the snow goes away on my island but I’m also looking forward to seeing what it’ll look like when it’s all vibrant and green!

I also started to make my outdoor library café and I’m pretty pleased with it! I want to add book stacks but I still can’t make them yet, though once I can, I think this area will be finished! It’s pretty basic but I think I’m okay with that now 😍

I’ve actually been reading a fair bit since Thursday night and have finished four books this long weekend! It’s insane, friends! Reading this much in such a short time is not only bringing me so much joy, but it’s giving me that excited energy towards reading that I haven’t felt since the start of the pandemic. I’m really trying not to jinx myself but I’m really hoping this feeling lasts through 2021 because it’s what I’ve been missing all year! I’m definitely in a mood reading head space and I’m enjoying dipping my toes in various books until I find the one that sticks without added pressure. I know I still have plenty of ARCs to read 🙈 but I’m working my way through (slowly)! And now I actually need to sit down and write my reviews (welp, but that’s another story)! 😂

That said, I’ve been steering clear of tech most of the weekend as I’ve had my nose in one book after another, so I haven’t been very active on the blog or Twitter. Hopefully, I can catch up during the weekday while I procrastinate! 🙃
