Top 5 Saturday: My Favourite Cover Buys

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post 🙂 This week’s topic is actually: cover buys.

Listen, we all claim to not judge books by their covers but let’s be real–we totally do and we’re not alone in doing so! And sometimes, when we get a little book crazy, we do buy books based on their covers. Well, I guess I should just speak for myself on that one 😅

I think this week’s topic is pretty self-explanatory. While all of these titles were eye-catching because of their gorgeous covers, I did eventually read the synopsis to make sure that I wasn’t just throwing my money away like it grows on trees 😂 These are probably the most beautiful books on my shelf and although I still need to read them (heh…😬), I have zero regrets about indulging in a little splurge for them! We all deserve to treat ourselves now and again, right? So without further ado…

(book covers are linked to the Goodreads pages!)

The binding by bridget collins

Book cover: The Binding

Literally everything about this book is just gorgeous. I was expecting the sleeve to be beautiful but then I saw the naked cover and spine and… Well, game over! This is a solid win for beauty!

The book of m by peng shepherd

Book cover: The Book of M

There are two covers for this book and while I was initially attracted to the other version than the one shown, I ended up getting this cover in the mail and I’m not mad about it. The sleeve has a gorgeous glossy / matte mixed finish and the colour combo is a favourite. Plus, the naked spine is gorg!

THE FAMILIARS BY STACEY HALLS

Book cover: The Familiars

I mean, do I really need to say anything about how beautiful this is? Look at the details! Every time I look at it I feel like I see something new. I admit that I bought this before reading the synopsis coz it was just screaming at me but thankfully, this sounds right up my alley plus I’ve heard really good things!

ENCHANTÉE BY GITA TRELEASE

Book cover: Enchantée

It was the bright and bold colours on this cover that caught my eye and begged for me to add this book to my collection. I did read the synopsis before purchasing it and it sounded so good that I immediately scooped it up. I do still need to read it and I’ve heard some pretty mixed reviews… But I hope to like it!

OPIUM AND ABSINTHE BY LYDIA KANG

Book cover: Opium and Absinthe

I realise I have a thing for covers that have lots of flowers and foliage on it. There’s just something so beautiful about these kinds of covers and I have to admit, that’s what caught my eye about this cover in the first place (I mean, aside from the title and the throwback to my absinthe drinking days LOL)!

November/december Schedule:

  • 14 November 2020 – Dress on the Cover
  • 21 November 2020 – Books with 2 Authors
  • 28 November 2020 – Cover Buys
  • 05 December 2020 – Apocalyptic Books
  • 12 December 2020 – Water on the Cover
  • 19 December 2020 – Famous Authors
  • 26 December 2020 – 2021 Releases

Have you ever bought books based on their covers? If yes, which books did you buy? How often do you do it? Would any of these be cover buys for you too?
