Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I have plans to spend the rest of my Sunday cosied up reading The Puppetmaster’s Apprentice. My focus has been whacky at best lately and I’ve struggled to fall into books over the last week (despite still reading a fair bit). I’ve had this one going for over 3 days now (I think) and it’s not because I’m not enjoying it, I’m just having trouble focusing. My mind has been wandering constantly! I’m hoping to tuck into it and finish it tonight though!

Pinocchio meets Frankenstein in this dark fairy tale retelling where a young girl is commissioned to build an assassin for a dark-hearted tyrant.

Impressed by the work of the puppetmaster and his apprentice, Tavia’s ruler, The Margrave, has ordered dozens of life-size marionette soldiers to be sent to Wolfspire Hall. When the orders for more soldiers come in with increasingly urgent deadlines, the puppetmaster’s health suffers and Pirouette, his daughter and protégé, is left to build in his stead. But there is something far more twisted brewing at Wolfspire—the Margrave’s son wants Pirouette to create an assassin. And he wants her to give it life.

With Tavia teetering on the brink of war and her father dying in the dungeons, Pirouette has no choice but to accept. Racing against the rise of the next blue moon—the magic that will bring her creations to life—she can’t help but wonder, is she making a masterpiece…or a monster?

What are you currently reading?

I don’t know why I’m still constantly surprised by how quickly time is going but… Here we are. We’ve come to another Sunday and next week is already mid-October! 🤔 Nothing really happened last week. I felt slightly more motivated at work and it felt good to find that drive again (even if it only lasted a short while). I think I’m more than convinced that I need to move on and work where I can feel like that again because as much as I do appreciate my current work place, the drive is gone and it’s not fair on both the organisation and myself if I stay and don’t produce the best work.

Last week was the first time in a while that I’ve felt like gaming but (of course) when I tried to turn my Switch on it didn’t work. 😅 The battery pooped out completely and I’ve been “massaging” it for days trying to get it to hold a charge and it’s finally getting there. BUT I also caved and got the SE Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch and it’s BEAUTIFUL! 😭 I’m starting a new island so I’ve been battling between wanting to game and needing to read ever since it arrived yesterday. Let me know if anyone wants to be friends and I’ll give you my code!

Reading & Blogging Recap

As I mentioned earlier my attention span has been all over the place since last week and because of that it has taken me longer to get through reads. I did finish two books yesterday but I’ve been rotating between five over the last few days. I also realise that I haven’t been as good with blog hopping this week because of my whacky moods–sorry, friends! Will try to be better 🙂 Next week is going to be super hectic with tours but it’s also going to be my last week of this many tours until the end of the year! On that note, here’s what I posted last week ICYMI:

Top 5 Saturday: Feminist Themes
Let’s Talk Bookish: What makes you DNF a book?
First Lines Friday: 08 October
Blog Tour Review: Children by Bjørn Larssen
Blog Tour Review: A Royal Christmas Quandry by Samantha Hastings

It’s been years since I’ve listened to this track but ever since it was casually mentioned in With the Fire On High (Malachi says a line from the song to Emoni and *swoon central*–that was me gone)!

    • I really enjoyed it in the end (shameless self-promo: my review for it just went up today)! 😂 Never thought I’d enjoy a Pinocchio/Frankenstein retelling as much as I enjoyed this one. I hope you liked it too 🙂

  1. I’m reading The Puppetmaster’s Apprentice right now, too! I think you’re probably ahead of me, though, if you were even close to finishing it last night. xD

I’ve had a horrible time focusing on books, too. Not sure if it’s the time of year or if there’s some big conspiracy going on or what, but I’m usually a two-book sort of gal (one physical, one ebook ongoing). Right now, I think I’ve got, like, 6 books I’m reading at a time? I’m having trouble really sinking into any of them enough to just focus on them. it’s horrible.

Ahhhh I love your new Switch! It’s gorgeous! Sorry your old one pooped out, but it looks like it worked out well in the end, either way. xD

    • Ahahaha in typical Dini fashion I definitely didn’t finish it on Sunday night. I ended up gaming for much longer than I intended… 😅 But I did finish it eventually and I just posted my review today! Did you finish it/enjoy it?
Lmao that six books at a time thing is definitely a mood, Sammie! I dunno, maybe it is a global conspiracy of some sort coz it seems like a lot of people are having the same issues with focusing. It’s been tough! I hope you have a better time of reading this week though!
Also, YES. I’m so glad my sister continued to bug me about getting this SE Switch because I have absolutely no regrets. It’s beautiful and I LOVE IT SO MUCH (it’s so hard to resist the pull of gaming again now LOL) 😂 Hope you have a good week ahead!
