Welcome back to Goodreads Monday! This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.
This week’s featured book is Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston. I think this is the third book in a series but when I saw the cover/title and synopsis, I knew I needed to get my hands on this book. It sounds so cute. This YA contemporary retelling will be released in June 2020!

In the third book in Ashley Poston’s Once Upon a Con series, Beauty and the Beast is retold in the beloved Starfield universe.
Rosie Thorne is feeling stuck—on her college application essays, in her small town, and on that mysterious General Sond cosplayer she met at ExcelsiCon. Most of all, she’s stuck in her grief over her mother’s death. Her only solace was her late mother’s library of rare Starfield novels, but even that disappeared when they sold it to pay off hospital bills.
On the other hand, Vance Reigns has been Hollywood royalty for as long as he can remember—with all the privilege and scrutiny that entails. When a tabloid scandal catches up to him, he’s forced to hide out somewhere the paparazzi would never expect to find him: Small Town USA. At least there’s a library in the house. Too bad he doesn’t read.
When Rosie and Vance’s paths collide and a rare book is accidentally destroyed, Rosie finds herself working to repay the debt. And while most Starfield superfans would jump at the chance to work in close proximity to the Vance Reigns, Rosie has discovered something about Vance: he’s a jerk, and she can’t stand him. The feeling is mutual.
But as Vance and Rosie begrudgingly get to know each other, their careful masks come off—and they may just find that there’s more risk in shutting each other out than in opening their hearts.
Why do I want to read it?
I’ve never been to a con of any kind although I have quite a few that I’m looking forward to ticking off my bucket list! I don’t normally read books (fiction and non-fiction) about celebrities and I also haven’t read the first two books in this series. Usually that bothers me, even if I can read these books as standalones (which I think I can?), but like I said above, I really want to get my hands on this book. It sounds like it’ll be a sweet read, the cover is super cute and I’m a sucker for Beauty & the Beast anything and everything 😂 Oh, not to mention that it’s a book about books and who doesn’t love that (although the fact that a rare book gets damaged sounds quite painful!)? Oh, and also grumpy boi and quiet girl romance? I think these are reason enough for wanting to read this as soon as I can! 😍 Lol
Have you read Bookish and the Beast or is it on your TBR?

I’ve heard so much of it but still haven’t read it!

I’ve been seeing this book popping up a lot lately and I really had my eye on it. But I still haven’t read Geekerella yet so I should probably do that first.

Ah! You had me at ‘grumpy boi and quiet girl romance’… I mean that was at the end of your review but still! That alone reminds me of Zapata books and we all know how much I love that trope! I haven’t heard of this book before but it’s on my TBR now. Fab review Dini 🙂

I haven’t read the first two books but I love their covers! Very effective at catching the attention of cover lovers such as myself 😂 Ooh, I’m still pending on NG! I have a feeling I’ll be rejected as well but… Oh well hahaha I guess I should read the first two books 😂

Ooh yay! I haven’t read the first or second book but I think I might have at least one of them on my Kindle 😂 Glad that book two was so much fun! I guess then it can be read as a standalone?

Yep! It definitely spoils the outcome of the first book but it can be read on its own.
