#WWWWednesday: 22 April

Holy wow, can someone tell me where April went to because it has seriously zoomed by! I can’t believe we’re just a few days from the last week of the month. I’m not ready for April to be over because I literally still have all the things to do and all the books to read!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Well, we’re back to my reading taking a hit thanks to Animal Crossing (yes, still)! Although we’re quite late into the month of April and my reading game has been thrown completely off this month (because what are books even), I feel like I’m slowly coming off the AC high. I’m not trying to jinx myself but I can feel it. That said, I only managed to finish one book since last Wednesday and it was another blog tour read.

The Silence of Bones by June Hur ★★★★½
This book was so different and so much more than I thought it’d be in all the best ways. I’ve never read a YA historical fiction, murder mystery/thriller before and it was incredible. It’s a bit slow to start but once you get sucked in you can’t put this book down. I’d also never read about this Korean dynastic empire before but despite being clueless to it, Hur’s writing was so immersive and I could still picture it clearly. Loved the characters and the exploration of sociopolitical themes of the era. Did I mention that it’s also highly quotable? Loved it and would definitely recommend it! Check out my full review.

Oh, Ruthless Gods… How much longer will you be here? I really hope that after tomorrow you’ll be done! I know I’ve made considerable progress with this book, but despite that it also feels like I haven’t made any progress at all? It’s weird and it feels like its gone on forever! I’m also “still reading” Two Can Keep A Secret. It’s one of the books for my O.W.L.s but considering how I’ve made ZERO progress with that readathon/challenge, I’m also tempted to just… Give up while I’m ahead? I don’t know 😔 I still want to finish this book though and I have a feeling it’ll be a quick read. Will also be picking up Incendiary for the blog tour next week and I’m very excited for it 😍

Moar blog tour reads that are top priority but also ALL THE ARCs!!!

How is your reading week going and what are you currently reading?

  1. Ugh, I hear you. March took FOREVER, and then April zoomed past. Talk about discrepancies. I can see how it’d be easy to fall into a slog with Ruthless Gods. Parts definitely can get repetitive. I look forward to hearing what you think of it, though! I’m interested in what you think of The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea, too! I’ve seen good things about it. I thought about requesting it, but … well, my schedule is more than overflowing. It’s avalanching. That’s a thing, right? So I’ll just have to live vicariously through you on that one. xD

    • I’m still shook we’re two days away from the end of April! Forking weird. I feel like a lot of it was repetitive in the end. I know I definitely loved it less than you did 😂 I just wanted more of the gods/not gods/monsters aspect coz that was so interesting! I really want to know how the series ends but I’m worried Nadya is gonna be insufferable 🤣😭 My schedule is totally avalanching with yours, Sammie… When will I ever learn?! Lol

    • I know, right?! The cover is definitely what pulled me in and when I got offered to read it I was like OMG NO WAY YES 🤣 I hope it’s amazing and I hope you enjoy it when you get to it ❤

  2. Don’t give up on your OWLs!!! Maybe just change your focus?
The last book I finished was All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace, and WOW! I’m currently reading Disenchanted by Brianna Sugalski and I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to read next. It’s weird, my motivation isn’t affected, but picking a book is the hard part lately.

    • Haha I’m really trying not to Leah but … the end of April is two days away and I don’t think I can read four books for it 😂 I honestly can’t even remember what books I listed in my possibility pile! There were only four 🙃 Welp… April has just been a month… Glad to hear you enjoyed All the Stars and Teeth–I’m hoping to read that next month! I hope you found a good read to pick up next!

  3. I am doing horrible with my O.W.L.s. But, I haven’t completely given up just in case I get a wild hair to do some serious binge reading here in these last days of April. I hope you enjoy Incendiary. I’m looking forward to it.

    • Omg Ali… I wish I could say I’m not giving up but seeing as it’s already 2 days until the end of April, I really don’t think I can do it 😭 None of the books I’ve read also fit any of the prompts either so… Welp. I hope you complete it though 😀 You can doo iiit!
