Hello Mondays, welcome back to #5OnMyTBR, a meme created by the wonderful E @ The Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. This bookish meme gets us to dig even further into our TBRs by simply posting about five books on our TBR! You can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. You can find the full list of prompts (past and future) at the end of this post!

This week’s prompt is: Humour/Funny Books!
I feel like I might’ve done a post like this before but I can’t be sure (read as: I couldn’t find the post lol). I love a book that has a plot and characters that will make me laugh; who doesn’t? But I don’t actually have a lot of books that fall in the “humour” category in my TBR and I guess it shows that I don’t read the genre a lot. That said, there are a few titles in particular that I’m looking forward to (and that I know already exist in my Kindle/Audible/Physical shelves.

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on Furiously Happy for ages. I’ve heard really good things about it and my sister managed to snag me a copy at the BBW sale last month and I can’t wait to read it!

Good Omens is a book that I feel I have to be in the right mood for because I think the writing is going to be full of quirks a la Gaiman. I’m looking forward to it though (so I can finally watch the show lol)!

I’m kinda on the fence with Tiffany Haddish but I’ve heard good things about The Last Black Unicorn. Plus I have the audiobook which is read by Haddish and I really like her voice 😃

I’ve heard a lot of good things about This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay. A lot of reviewers have said it’s really funny (and also a little sad?) but I’m really keen to check it out!

I haven’t actually watched anything with Mindy Kaling but I’ve read an interview with her and she sounds cool? Down to earth and funny. So I’m looking forward to reading Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns)?! And this title also really speaks to me because I’ve had this thought plenty of times 😂

March:
23/03/2020 — RomComs- 30/03/2020 — Humour
April:
- 06/04/2020 — Holiday Events // Easter free day
- 13/04/2020 — Heartwarming
- 20/04/2020 — Hype from the past
- 27/04/2020 — Poetry
Do you like funny/humorous books? Any of these also on your TBR?

Hmm, I don’t know if I could come up with 5 for this one. I’ll have to give it some thought. Great list!!

I didn’t think I could either but then I realised that well, with a TBR that’s over 1k books I’m bound to find five that exist on my actual TBR 😂 Haha

Furiously Happy was a lot of fun. I listened to it on audio and getting to experience the essays from Jenny herself was priceless. 🙂

Yay! Glad to hear that about the book. I’ve heard it from some other people as well, and that the cover is very fitting with the content 😂 I might have to check out the audiobook too then if it was so good!

Aaah, I feel like I’ll feel the same way about Kaling and that’s why even though I’ve watched nothing with her in it, I’m still really keen to read her book(s) 😂

Good Omens was awesome!! It was my first time reading either Gaiman or Pratchett and I loved it! They both have great humor 😀 I hope you like it! (and the show too!)

I’ve heard so many people say that but I really do feel like I’ll need to be in the right mood to “get” it? 😅 I’ve read Gaiman a bit but haven’t read anything by Pratchett before. Glad to hear that you loved it though 😀 I’m excited for all the British humour! Lol

Good Omens is one of my favorites! I reread it last year for one of my book clubs and it’s still amazing. There are like…..a couple of instances of cringe in it for me now (times have changed!) but overall it’s still a fabulous read. Hope you enjoy it!
