Yes, I know I’m late to update. Life has been happening and in typical panda fashion, I also started to slack off a little with recording my reads on my challenge spreadsheet! Oops? Thankfully there’s the Goodreads Reading Challenge which has helped me to recall what books I’ve read over the last month and what challenges they’d fit under! So let’s take a look at how I’ve been doing for the *many* challenges that I decided to participate in this year…
I’ve been using many of the same books I’ve read to fulfil the prompts in different challenges and I think that’s OK although sometimes it feels like “I’m cheating” although I know that’s just the nay-sayers I’ve encountered whose voices are ringing in my ears 😂
I managed to read four ARCs in January and while that’s not a whole lot (at least compared to others) it’s more than I thought I’d read last month, so I’m happy there’s some progress, no matter how small!
- A book published in 2020: How to Build A Heart
- A book with a great first line: The Nickel Boys
- A book with a map + A book by a WOC: Spin the Dawn
- A book with a pun in the title: Let’s Get Textual
- A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins: Scythe
- A book with a bird on the cover: Paper and Fire

- A book in the middle of a series: Ash and Quill
- A book from the last decade (2010-2019): Scythe
- A young adult novel: Paper and Fire
- A dystopian novel: Ink and Bone
- A book written in a format other than third person: Bitter Falls
- A book about family/friendship: How to Build A Heart
- A fantasy/science fiction: Spin the Dawn
- A book longer than 500 pages (2 spaces!): The Toll
- A book you meant to read last year: The Nickel Boys
Two spaces!
Sadly this is the challenge I’ve made the least progress in as I’ve only managed to read one book by an Asian author (although it was a favourite)! I know the year is still young and there’s still plenty of time but I do hope to at least read two or three books by Asian authors in February!

That’s a wrap for the monthly reading challenge updates! I think I’ve made some pretty decent progress in all of the challenges (okay, except for YARC 2020…) but considering we’ve only just passed January, I think I’m doing pretty alright 🙂 I think as long as I continue to make steady progress with my reads through the rest of the year I’ll be able to come out right on top and I can even “increase the challenge” for myself by reading a different book for each prompt!
Are you participating in any challenges in 2020? How do you feel about the progress you made for your challenges in January?

Great job getting your challenges done!

It’s such a pretty cover isn’t it? I still enjoyed the story but I think it might be the last one for me 🙂

4 ARCs is great! I can never focus only on ARCs, and need to throw in there some other books I’m excited to read.
You made great progress in all of your challenges! Good job!

Thanks Alex! I’m pretty happy with having read 4 ARCs in one month — I’m honestly usually so bad at it lol but I’m hoping that I can keep this up for . .. well, as long as I can! 😂
