The Reader’s Problems Book Tag

This is another one that I wasn’t tagged to do but I saw it ages ago on Hâf’s page and decided that I felt like doing an easy Wednesday tag (I’m realizing that a weekly trend might be developing now)! So let’s get going:

You have 20,000 books on your TBR, how do you decide what to read next?

I’m a mood reader so it would depend entirely on what mood I’m in? Honestly, I’ve been thinking of making a TBR jar where I write down all the books I own on a slip of paper, put them in the jar and randomly pick one every time I finish a read. But again, mood reader!

You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?

I don’t DNF. As much as I really want to sometimes, I can never bring myself to actually do it! 🙈 I just feel guilty (even though I know I shouldn’t)! But when it comes to this point I usually just end up skimming a lot of the book but I don’t put it down until it’s finished (otherwise I’ll never finish it lol).

The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge. Do you try to catch up? And if so, how?

I know it’s about quality over quantity but think I would try to catch up! I’d probably read all the graphic novels that I could get my hands on in between reading regular length novels.

The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?

NO! JUST NO! Seriously, why? Why is this done to us?! (Lol yeah I’m drama) This was actually something that I noticed about my Nevernight Chronicle books and the difference is so obvious on the spine it annoys me to no end but… I already spend so much on books, I’m telling myself to just suck it up… 😫

Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?

I don’t know a lot of readers outside of the book community so it’d be whoever sees my review of it and commiserates with me lol I’d be really nervous about posting my review but I know there’s bound to be someone in the book community who gets my feels!

You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?

Omg this actually happens to me SO OFTEN. I’m such a crier! I usually go to the bathroom or I look down while reading (even if my tears might drop onto the page LOL) and I sneakily wipe my tears away with a tissue. Or I close the book, look up, breathe and wait for the tears to pass before trying again 😂

The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?

The answer is always yes, but does that mean I actually ever get around to doing it? No 🤣 Which means the book ends up sitting unread on my shelf for a long time until I get around to re-reading the previous book(s). Either that or sometimes I’ll try to find the recap of the books on one of those sites that has all the spoilers/recaps (which is easier to find when it’s a popular YA fantasy)!

You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?

This is so difficult because I find it so hard to say no to people and let them down! But if I had to say no, I’d probably either say someone else has borrowed that book right now and that I’ll give it to them when I get it back? Or I’d say it’s a special edition and I don’t lend those out? Haha 😅 Even writing this makes me feel guilty!

You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?

I’d put down all the books and either pick something up that’s completely outside my usual genres or I’ll stop reading for a while and start watching shows until I get sick of not reading and try again!

There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read. How many do you end up buying?

ALL THE DAMN BOOKS!!! No wonder my bank balance hates me so much 😂

After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read, how long do they sit on your shelf before you read them?

Days. Weeks. Months. Years. FOREVER?! Jokes… Maybe.

I TAG:

Emer | Nen & Jen | Joanna | Mani | Kitty

And YOU if you want to do this too!

  1. I don’t usually cry when I’m out in public but it’s happened with me a few times in the last few months, and it’s so bad! I always close the book and think about something happy. 😂

I loved this tag and your answers so much, btw😍! I would love to answer it sometime.

  2. Dini if you need to bond with anyone over hating a book I’m your girl!! I love a good bookish rant even if I’ve never read the book or even if I like it 😂😂😂😂

    • I like the idea of the TBR jar too but I’ve had an empty mason jar sitting on my shelf for the last few months and I STILL haven’t got around to making one yet 🤣 but too true, would we even stick to what we pick out?! Mood reading can be so annoying sometimes! LOL

  3. Haha! Entertaining as always! I tend to have this mental block that makes me just not cry in public (or in front of anyone really) so usually I just push through but stopping to take some breaths and think happy thoughts sure helps! 😀 If I’m alone I’M WAILING though lol
