#TopTenTuesday: December’s Likely Possibility Pile

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Books On My Winter 2020-2021 TBR (or summer if you live in the southern hemisphere)!

I’m generally terrible with TBRs and tend to half-stick to possibility piles but 2020 has seen my moods become even wilder and whackier than normal, which has resulted in me straying from all the books that I think I possibly want to read over a given period. As much as I have been reading, its still been a tough year for the books 😂 I can’t believe the year is already coming to an end and well, a lot of my bookish reading plans this year kind of got thrown to the wayside! While this prompt does include 2021, I’m focusing on December specifically as I have a few titles that I think I want to read before the year ends… But (again) it’ll depend on my mood when it comes time to pick them up! So here are some possible possibilities for the pile and yes, I’m probably being more than a little ambitious! 😜

#TopTenTuesday: Christmas Romances for the Holidays!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Holiday/Seasonal Freebie (holiday books/covers/titles, wintry reads, snow on cover, cool color covers, takes place in cold settings, cozy scenes on cover, etc.), so I’ve gone for Christmas Romances that I hope to be reading!

Since it’s a holiday/seasonal freebie today, I was debating whether to do a post on the books I want to read before the end of 2020, but I thought it’d end up being not very festive, so I decided to share ten Christmas romances that I’d like to read at some point this month (but also maybe even in January). I’m quite new to seasonal romances but I went a bit wild last year looking at all the gorgeous Christmas covers, and ended up snagging a fair few for 99p on Kindle! I can’t remember what many of these are about but just looking at them gives me those cosy and comforting feels. As with many holiday themed things, I find that sometimes holiday romances can get a little cheesy, but y’know what? We’re here for the cheesy feel-good vibes, especially when so much has been a hot mess this year!

#TopTenTuesday: Books I Want to Read Again

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Books I want to read again.

Well, I thought that this was a pretty fitting topic as just last Friday, I shared my thoughts on rereading and I said that while I’m not much of a rereader, I would like to do it more–if only it weren’t for all the books sitting on my ever growing TBR! I didn’t mention in my post what books I’d like to reread again so what a perfect time do it with this TTT!

Almost all of these are part of a series and they’ve made it onto this list because my memory is the worst thing to exist™️ and I need to refresh it before I move onto the final book in the series. The standalones are because I remember loving them so much when I did read them (some as far back as middle school!) but I don’t recall (m)any details now so it might even be like reading a brand new book again, which is always super exciting! Yay for having terrible memory! 😂

#TopTenTuesday: Books I’m Thankful for in 2020!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Thanksgiving/I’m Thankful for… Freebie!

When I saw the prompt for this week I wasn’t really sure that I was feeling it, plus, we also don’t celebrate Turkey Day but I let the prompt simmer for a while and then decided I’d just share ten books I’m thankful for (sorry for the unoriginal idea lol)!

We all know what a hellacious year 2020 has been, more so for some than others, and all the ways that has impacted various aspects of our lives including reading. So I thought it’d be fun to take a look at the ten books that I am especially thankful to have read this year! Whether it’s because they brought me joy and gave me all the heartwarming feels, or it took me out of the nightmarish reality that we’re all living in, or it just really helped me process emotions and was a cathartic read (intended or otherwise)! Basically, these books helped me to keep going this year and I’m very thankful for them! Picking only ten from the 100+ books I’ve read is going to be tough AF but let’s see what I come up with! Maybe I’ll include some honorary mentions 😂

#TopTenTuesday: Characters I’d Name a Pet After

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Characters I’d Name a Pet After!

When I first saw this prompt I came up against a solid wall and couldn’t think of a single character I’d like to name a pet after. In all my life, I think the only pet I’ve named after a character was my first cat when I was a kid and I very originally (cough) named her Totoro.

I was so sure that I was going to give this week a pass, but then I decided to challenge myself by having a look at my shelf to see if any names came to mind from the books staring back at me. Surprisingly, there were a few! I have two doggos in my life right now and it’s been years since I’ve had a cat, so it’s kinda funny that when I thought of these names, I actually pictured them all as names for cats? All of the characters I mention are some of my all-time favourites. Maybe one takes an animal form. Some are full of mischief. Others are very sweet and nerdy. Almost all of them have dry senses of humour and are as sarcastic as I can be IRL. Basically, they’re characters who have wormed their way into my heart and who made my reading experience that much better!

#TopTenTuesday: Books Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles (submitted by Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse)

I don’t know about you but I’m so glad that this week’s prompt was so fun and easy to do because it’s only Tuesday but Monday already felt like a whole ass week! But I digress…

I ended up listing titles for books that are mostly still on my TBR and when I started thinking about what books would make great titles, I immediately thought back to my “emo” days when songs had titles like “Being from Jersey Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry”, “The Curse of Curves”, “When I Get Home You’re So Dead”, “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows”, “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut From The Team)”, and so on… 😂 So I ended up going down this route for the song titles this week and I think I’d definitely stop to listen to these tracks if I came across these titles? 🤣 My curiosity would be piqued at the very least!

#TopTenTuesday: It’s not always about books…

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: my non-bookish hobbies!

This week’s prompt shifts away from all-things-bookish-all-the-time and has us sharing more personal bits about ourselves so we can get to know each other better ☺️ While I definitely had to gear my brain up for the change in topic, I thought this was a fun prompt to do because it made me actually stop and think about the things that I enjoy doing aside from reading–although I’m not lying when I say that reading/books take up the vast majority of my time outside of work. 😂

#TopTenTuesday: Spooky Thrills for Chickens Like Me!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Halloween Freebie!

I’ve never been a big proponent of Halloween mostly because I don’t really read “traditionally scary” books or watch scary movies. I am the Ultimate Chicken™️ after all. I was a bit stumped on what to focus on for this week’s Halloween freebie but I wanted to keep it short and simple, so I’m sharing ten books that were a little spooky or creepy, but were just the right amount for those like me who don’t really handle scary things well. Some of these lean more towards thriller creepy but it definitely still counts, right?! While these might give you a spook, they’re more on the level of “just keep a night-light on” kind of scary, so if you are curious or would like to step out of your comfort zone, I’d definitely give these a go! 😂

#TopTenTuesday: Books with (Super) Long Titles

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Super Long Book Titles!

I realised five minutes ago that I’ve been working on the prompt for next week (welp 🙃) but I’m glad that this week’s prompt is quite easy and fun so I’m going to keep this short and simple! I think there are a lot of long book titles these days (especially in YA fantasy with many combination of the “A _____ of _____ and _____” or “_____ of _____ and _____” titles) but I tried not to include any of those in my list today 😉 Although I know a lot of readers are sick of the similar titles, I’m not particularly fussed by them. But I do think these longer titles are more interesting! These books are a mix of ones that I’ve already read and ones that I still need to read.

#TopTenTuesday: Books with Fall Colours/Vibes

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s prompt is: Book Covers with Fall Colours/Vibes (or spring if you live in the southern hemisphere)

Although I live in the tropics, I have lived in places where there were multiple seasons and unsurprisingly, autumn was my favourite! 🍂 I’ve always preferred cold weather to warm weather because I love bundling up under my doona and fluffy throws, and covering myself in oversized cardis/jumpers. At least when it’s cold you can wear multiple layers — when it’s hot you can’t exactly go around in the nude 😂 BUT I DIGRESS!!! 🤣

When I think of autumn I think red, yellow, orange, and black, falling leaves, spooky reads thanks to Halloween, but also cosy romances too! So today’s is going to be a mix of all those, and I realised I do have more spooky reads on my TBR than I expected. Look at me branching out of my comfort zone! 🎃
