The Duke Effect (The Rogue Files #7)
Publisher: Avon
Pub Date: 27 October 2020
Genre: Historical Romance

Young Rhea is a millerโs daughter of low birth, so she is understandably surprised when a mysterious nobleman, Lord Crevan, shows up on her doorstep and proposes marriage. Since commoners donโt turn down lordsโno matter how sinister they may seemโRhea is forced to agree to the engagement.
Lord Crevan demands that Rhea visit his remote manor before their wedding. Upon arrival, she discovers that not only was her betrothed married six times before, but his previous wives are all imprisoned in his enchanted castle. Determined not to share their same fate, Rhea asserts her desire for freedom. In answer, Lord Crevan gives Rhea a series of magical tasks to complete, with the threat โCome back before dawn, or else Iโll marry you.โ
With time running out and each task more dangerous and bizarre than the last, Rhea must use her resourcefulness, compassion, and bravery to rally the other wives and defeat the sorcerer before he binds her to him forever.

TL;DR: The Duke Effect was a fun historical romp that features an opposites-attract romance featuring a sassy whip-smart FMC and a starchy do-gooder MMC. I loved the evolution of Nora and Constantine’s relationship from antagonistic acquaintances due to the mistaken/hidden identity trope but eventually grows into mutual respect, trust, friendship, and eventually, love. It was angsty, swoony, and a bit cheesy but so good!

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday in bed reading A Prayer for Vengeance, which I’m on a book tour for this coming week. I’m a little behind my reading schedule thanks to becoming obsessed with Sarah MacLean’s Hell’s Belles series… But hopefully, this will be a quick and enjoyable read!
Hello, friends. It’s a slothful Saturday afternoon here! I browsed my bookmarked book tags for an easy tag to do and came across the Afternoon Tea Book Tag I saved over a year ago after seeing it on Elle @ Unwrapping Words.
This tag was originally created by The Incessant Bookworm.

Happy Friday book lovers! We’re back with another First Lines Friday, a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? Here are the rules:

First lines:
“There isn’t a lot that Elisha Rowe is sure of at this hour, but as she shivers on her parents’ snow-dusted porch in fluffy pink slippers and a pom-pom beanie, she’s sure of this: someone has broken into her house.”

Hello, friends! I’m back with a blog tour and I’m excited to share a review for Wrapped with a Beau by Lillie Vale. Special thanks to the TBR & Beyond Tours team for organising the tour and including me in it!
Thanks to G.P. Putnam’s Sons for providing a digital ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

In its heyday, Piney Peaks and its beloved Christmas House were made famous by Sleighbells, a romantic holiday movie. 50 years later, the small town is ready for a new love story.
As a successful film liaison, Elisha Rowe has her heart set on one thing and one thing only: putting her hometown back on the map. So, when she gets the chance to secure a sequel to Sleighbells, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure everything goes smoothly. Unfortunately, that includes claiming to have already secured permission to film at the historic Christmas houseโpermission she was very much denied by the gorgeous new owner.
Ves Hollins is only back in Piney Peaks long enough to sell the house he inherited from his great-aunt. The holidays have always been tough for Ves, and it’s not any easier when he’s distracted by memories of a Christmas long, long ago, and the undeniable charm of neighbor Elisha. Ready to return home to New York as quickly as possible, he has no plans to put down roots or fall in love…even if Elisha unravels his hesitations like a bad Christmas sweater.
There’s no question the two are oppposites in every way. Ves is unquestionably frosty. Elisha is brimming with warmth. He doesn’t do commitment. She never runs from a challenge. But as the two grow closer, they quickly realize that the growing spark between them may be just what the season calls for.

TL;DR: If you’re a fan of holiday romances with small-town settings, quirky residents, loveable big families and all the warm fuzzy feel-good vibes, then you’re bound to enjoy Wrapped with a Beau. If you want a book that will give you the same cosy and joyous feelings that you get when watching your favourite holiday movie, look no further because this book will make you wish it was Christmas right now or like, every day. The romance was sweet, the main characters were easy to love and they were accompanied by supporting characters who made the story even better.

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

Weโre back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Favorite Character Relationships (These can be platonic or not. Romantic relationships, parent/child, siblings, family bonds, friendships, found families, pet/human, etc.)
Hello, friends! I’m kicking off the week with a book tag this Monday! I first saw The Weather Book Tag on Kyla’s blog and it looked like the easy kind of tag that I love doing, so I immediately bookmarked it!
I wasn’t sure who made the tag but I followed the trail of posts from Kyla’s page to Bookstooge.

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be capping off my Sunday in bed with Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews. This is book four in the series (six more to go!) and the stakes are getting higher and more personal and I’m loving every second of being with Kate and her people!
