We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is: April Showers (Interpret this however you’d like: rainy day reads, books that make you cry, books that give you happy tears, books to wash away a bad reading experience, books set in rainy places, books with rain/raindrops/umbrellas on the cover, blue book covers, etc.)
Hmm… I wasn’t sure what to do for today’s topic. In Indonesia, the rainy season has not let up since the ‘-ber’ months started last year, which is very odd and more proof of how rapidly the climate is changing. But I digress! I guess in “honour” of the never-ending rainy season, I’m going to go for covers that have some element of water on it…And that are (more or less) blue! I would go for titles that have rain on the cover but I honestly don’t think I have many, lol.
These will be a mix of books I’ve read (marked with a *) and books from my TBR!

Exiles by Jane Harper
*The Voyage of the Basilisk by Marie Brennan
*Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
*A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid

Hunt On Dark Waters by Katee Robert
The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery
Last Chance to Save the World by Beth Revis
Cursed Daughters by Oyinkan Braithwaite
In Ascension by Martin MacInnes

In my search for water-y covers, I came across zero that had rain! A body of water is as close as we’re going to get, but at least it’s water? 😅 Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR?

The Voyage of the Basilisk looks sick! I love all the blue coloring throughout. Lovely list 🙂

The story is as awesome as the cover. 😍 My second favourite in the series (well I’ve only read three of the books so far but still, lol)!

I added the series to my TBR! It sounds amazing as a get out. Thank you!

Wow, that’s a long rainy season. How long would it typically last before climate change started to disrupt the weather?
Here in Ontario, we have snow all winter and then April is generally a pretty rainy month. After that, we usually have sunny weather at least some days.

It’s meant to end around February at the latest, but while it has started to slow down slightly (with more dry days in between some weeks), it’s still raining almost daily! But in previous years (~2022~2024), the rainy season was barely there and we had long periods of drought. Such drastic (and impactful) changes!

I also tried rainy covers first and didn’t find much so I went rogue instead 😀 I love the cover for A Theory of Dreaming and I definitely still want to read those books!

I loved the first book in the duology a lot more but I think I love the cover for Dreaming most 🤭 The blues, the jelly fish, being underwater is such a vibe! 🤭

I too use books as a distraction from the terror of climate change. 🥲 I hope y’all are ok and get what you need soon. ❤

I love seeing book covers that differ from the US covers. Bravo!

I think a lot of US covers are better than the UK and international versions, but there are some exceptions (sometimes). 🤭

I’m loving it so much! It’s a little like Emily Wilde but a bit more scholarly, but still written with such heart and also, wry humour! Definitely recommend it 🙂

I had to Google that cover cos your mention of Meg Cabot brought to mind one of her covers that I totally forgot about until now. It’s the one you mentioned! I had no idea it was titled “No Judgements” 😂

This is a great collection of blue covers! I’m not sure I could live some place where it rains a lot. Then again, I live some place that snows a lot, and I didn’t think I could do that 20 years ago. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

Can you send some of your rain to the Arizona desert? We really need it!
I love a good water cover. Water can be used to express so many different vibes and emotions. It’s very versatile.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
