Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [315]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I finished my last read earlier this evening and now I’m trying to decide what I want to read next. I want to pick up something by a Black author for Black History Month, and I’m tossing it up between the five below. I’ve read The Nickel Boys when it first came out, but I’ve been meaning to re-read it. The Write Escape and What It Means will fulfill reading challenge prompts for this month. I’m unsure what I’m in the mood for, tbh!

Have you read any of these (and if so, would you recommend it)? What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

Aside from falling a bit ill earlier in the week (dang stomach issues), this week was fairly uneventful. Work was busy, as usual, but nothing major happened, and the same goes for in my personal life. I went to visit my brother and his wife today after not seeing them since December, and that was nice to catch up. They got me this adorable panda light that they saw at this home decor store the other day, but unfortunately, I left their house in a rush and forgot to take it with me. 😂 I’m such a numpty—I’ll get it from them tomorrow. My brother also pulled a bin bag full of Beanie Babies (anyone remember those)? Mum unearthed them over the holidays and she handed them off to him to try and sell. I’m surprised by how quite a few of them are still in really great condition, although some of the more “special” ones had missing tags. 😣 I also spent some time trying to befriend one of their cattos, Snowy, a ragdoll. She was wearing a “cone of shame” cos she got some fungal issues, and so she’s extra grumpy in the face and was not having it with anyone or anything. Poor bubby. I love her so much, haha.

Throughout the week I’ve been staring woefully at the stacks of books taking up floor space because I haven’t had the chance to catalogue them yet. I did some more of that last night and while I made a good chunk of progress, I’m sure I still have a few hundred more to go… Y’know, having the dream of my own personal library is fun and all until I find myself doing things like this cataloguing project and I’m like UGH, WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY BOOKS?! 😂 First world problems, I know… This is not me being ungrateful for all the books I own, as I wouldn’t trade my books for anything, lol. 🤭

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

deeper well – kacey musgraves

I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜

  1. I love Deeper Well and have that album on at least once a week. Hope that the cataloguing isn’t too much of a chore. I have to say that I can’t imagine trying to do it for my book collection.
I vividly remember buying Beanie Babies for my daughter and how excited she got when we managed to get hold of a collectable one. 😃I hope you enjoy whichever of your books that you decide to pick up next.

  2. I read The Nickel Boys and liked it, but never watched the adaptation. Maybe a good choice for Black History Month. I’m also trying to read books by Authors of Colour. I just finished The Illegal by Lawrence Hill. I have Yellow Wife, but it is at home, so I won’t get to that. My daughter had a ton of both Beanie Babies and Beanie Buddies. We actually donated the babies to the Women’s Shelter for Abused women, and the Buddies to the fire department to give to kids at fires, accidents etc. They were all in great shape and even had the tags. I really liked that song, Dini. I don’t listen to a lot of newer music, I usually listen to classics, but that one is good. Thanks for sharing it. I hope this is a good week for you in all respects.
