We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is a: Books Set in Snowy Places (If snow isn’t your thing, pick another kind of place and share books set there!)
I was low-key tempted to go rogue today because it’s been so incredibly hot in Indonesia lately that the thought of snow makes me wanna cry (cos I want it so bad, lol). But then I thought, why not try manifesting some cooler climes by thinking about all the snowy places that I’ve been to in my head and those that I’m looking forward to visiting one day! Book titles marked with an * are still on my TBR.

*One by One by Ruth Ware
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
Northern Lights by Nora Roberts
Whiteout by Adriana Anders
*Otherworldly by F.T. Lukens

The Snowman by Jo Nesbo
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
*Beartown by Fredrik Backman

What are your favourite books with snowy settings? Have you read any of these or are they on your TBR?

I’ve heard so many great things about The Buffalo Hunter Hunter!

I’m definitely throwing my voice into the mix because it’s probably my favourite read of the year? It’s SO good! 😍

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter – I so want to read this one this winter.
Great list!

Yaas! It’s so good! One of my favourite (if not my favourite) read of the year! I hope you love it too 🙂

I think I saw the film adaptation of Northern Lights and I know lots of people like Ruth’s books! 🙂

I’ve always been curious about the adaptation especially cos, if I’m not mistaken, it has LeAnn Rimes as the FMC but I couldn’t ever figure out where I could watch it overseas, lol.

Great picks, Beartown has been popular. Thanks for sharing your list

It’s so popular and another Backman book that I still need to get to. Hopefully, when I end up reading it, I wind up feeling the same way I did with A Man Called Ove (absolutely adored that one)!

I’ve been wanting to read Otherworldly too! And Fredrik Backman’s books are also still on my TBR.

I finally read my first Backman book this year and loved it! I hope you wind up enjoying whichever book of his that you pick up first from your TBR 🙂 Happy reading!

A couple of books I’ve read recently that you may enjoy are Secret Nights and Northern Lights by Megan Oliver and The Living and the Dead by Christoffer Carlsson. As for wanting to see snow, you are more than welcome to come visit me any time! We had our first significant snowfall a couple of weeks ago and we haven’t seen the grass since.

Ooh, thanks for the rec, Pam! Both of those books sound right up my alley, especially Secret Nights and Northern Lights though! 😍 I’ll be checking to see which of them I can get my hands on! I would love to visit Canada—honestly, it’s on my bucket list. My cousin lives there (has been living there for the past 15 years now) and I still haven’t visited once… Gotta make time (and learn to save more, lol)! 😅

We have some overlap, but that’s not surprising! I could have put all of Backman’s books on my list. Between Shades of Grey is so good, but so heartbreaking. All of these covers are making me so cold and I’m already freezing. haha. Great list, Dini!!

I feel like all of Ruta Sepetys’ books are so heartbreaking! She knows how to write an emotional tearjerker, for sure!

I’ve been eyeing up Beartown for the longest time but I don’t know why I keep putting off buying it… Great list 🙂

Same, Jessie! Now having read A Man Called Ove though, I’m quite sure I’ve put it off because some part of me knows it’s going to emotionally devastate me! 😅

Ooh I forgot that The Buffalo Hunter Hunter would make a great choice for this one!

Right?! I felt the cold down to my bones with that one!

I haven’t read any of these books, but I did read the short story “Spinning Silver” that was the starting point for the novel. I hope you get a break in the weather soon!

Oh? Was there a short story Spinning Silver? By Novik? I didn’t realise that! I remember enjoyed Spinning Silver but I remember so little of it now. That and Uprooted are both on my re-read list. Thanks, Nicole. It has been miserably hot—I’m hoping it rains to cool things down some soon!

It was a short story first! I read that before I realized it had been turned into a full novel.

I feel you Dini – today in Hawaii it’s 85 degrees 😅, and I just want it to drop to maybe 79? Great choices!

Oh gosh, pretty much the same here, if maybe a bit hotter. It’s getting miserably hot. I wish things would cool down! 😅 I hope cooler weather comes your way too, Yolanda!

I hope we both get cooler weather! We got heavy rain this weekend which caused flooding but it also stayed humid. 🥵

I hope you enjoy it, Carla! That was one of my first (if not the first) Nora Roberts books and I remember loving it, but don’t remember much else. I’m looking forward to re-reading it one day 🙂

I purchased the audiobook at the audible sale, so hopefully I’ll listen to it soon.

Your list has so many different places featured. I wish I had thought to use a Backman book. I need to try the Hannah book again. I tried the audio, but it was too slow. I think that’s a reading book for me.

Ngl, I was pretty proud with how many different places I managed to find 🤭 I read Hannah’s book not long after I finished The Nightingale (I’m clearly a masochist, haha) and it emotionally devastated me too, but you’re right, it was a much slower build up! If you wind up giving it another go, I hope you enjoy it, Sam 🙂

Hello Dini, I haven’t read any of the books off your list, however I would really like to read Spinning Silver. My favourite book set in the snow is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Here is my TTT post: 📚 Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set In Snowy Places |Blessings, Jessica 💌

What I wouldn’t give for a bit of warmth lol! We’ve had some miserable, cold and windy weather here, but I’d be a lot happier if we got some snow lol. I’ve only read a couple of these, Buffalo Hunter Hunter and Spinning Silver, but it looks like a great list 🙂

Wish that I could send you some warmth in exchange for some of that windy cold weather because it’s been miserably hot here! 🥵 I feel like I’m melting every time I leave an air-conditioned space, lol.

Ahhh maybe I’ll keep the windy weather then, I tend to turn into a puddle when it gets too hot lol
