We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’ve spent the majority of my Sunday with Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. I picked this up on a whim last night when I couldn’t decide what to read and it’s… not at all what I remembered it to be! 😂 First of all, how on earth did I read this when I was still in like Year 6 or something? While the cover and the memory of reading this always makes it one of my first picks when people ask about “books that remind you of your childhood”, it’s certainly not surprising that I don’t remember anything about it. I’m certain most of it would’ve probably gone over my head! I also had no recollection of this being so sexual? But yeah, wow, it’s very much so. LOL!
What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

Aside from a steadily busier work schedule, this week was fairly uneventful. I got the confirmation that my Sri Lankan visa was granted, my friends and I booked our post New Year beach getaway for four days to wrap-up our trip, so my trip is now pretty much sorted! The only thing that’s left to do is find Christmas presents for my friends who I’m staying with and a wedding gift for my friend who’s getting married! I never know what to get someone as a wedding gift. In Indonesia, people tend to just give an envelope of cash to the newly weds upon arrival (at the reception), but I feel like it might be nice to get her something unique/different from Indonesia? Why is gift giving always so difficult?! 😅
On another note, I can’t believe next week is already the final week of November! That means I’ve got about 3 weeks to wrap up my work year before I jet off on hols and I’m not sure I’m ready for that? Time is passing way too quickly… Help! 🫣

I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜

Is that the same book as the movie? I didn’t see it, but I remember it being out. Sounds like a fun trip to look forward to.

It is! I don’t remember the original movie, but I knew it existed before picking up my own copy of the book more recently. After finishing it I had to look it up and learned that there was a new remake! Haven’t seen anyone talk about it though, lol. And yes, I’m defo looking forward to the trip and just getting away in general 🙂

I never know what to get for weddings either. I usually end up giving cash. lol You must be so excited for your trip! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Hahaha, I think that’ll end up being what I do (cash) but I’m gonna go hunting next week for something and if I don’t find anything good or unique enough then I’ll just do that, haha. Thanks, Julie! I’m very excited. It’s been ages since I’ve seen some of these friends (even though we talk semi-regularly) but it’l be nice to catch up and get away to a beach in a different country! LOL

I think something uniquely Indonesian sounds like a thoughtful gift, certainly better than toaster. Maybe a batik table setting set (eg tablecloth, table runner/placemats/napkins)?
Wishing you a happy reading week

Yeah, I was thinking maybe some kind of batik would be nice. Maybe a specific type of batik (like from a different or less common region of Indonesia). I’ll have to go hunting this weekend or next week 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion!

Ooh, are you enjoying the adaptation? Are you watching the latest one or the original (also where are you watching it)? Haha, sorry for the interrogation 🤣 I hope you’re enjoying it?

I’m excited to get away on holiday after a year of absolute madness! 😂 I think I might give cash now, lol. I always hate finding gifts cos I worry the one receiving it won’t like it 🫣
